Challenging Layout
The course is in very good shape. The modifications they did when it went to an 18 hole layout have helped take the course to a new level. They have installed some sandy waste areas and overall have made this a very enjoyable layout to play. The new bridges and new holes have made the course more appealing. The clubhouse and amenities have all been upgraded. The food was good at the turn. It is a good place to play if you do not want to feel pressured or controlled. The staff is friendly and helpful, and pace of play is only limited by your own speed of play. By keeping the green fees around 100, it helps to keep the course from being overplayed. The new carts with GPS have helped get rid of trails behind and around greens. If you are thinking about playing this course since it was altered and re-opened in 2024, you should give it a try. It's worth the look.
Has potential - poor management
Longwood used to be such a great value before the renovation post flood control buyout. Close to home, nice layout. Post renovation, they tried to go private only and failed. Had to open up to the public yet the treat non-members poorly. Terrible starter, terrible carts, they opted to put in dirt cart paths instead of cement for parts of the new holes. You can tell they went cheap. The GPS on the cart (new post renovation) locked me out 6 times through the round while driving on normal cart path. This course has so much potential but needs better management
The golf club at Longwood
A few friends and I played the golf club of Longwood on May 17. The golf course is in good shape and I would definitely recommend it. The cost to play is a little high, but it was a Sunday morning so it’s understandable. The pace of play was great. There was a chance of rain in the forecast so I think that kept people away so we were able to finish the round in about three hours and 50 minutes.
I played this course a few times and I never get a warm fuzzy feeling when I speak to the person behind the register in the clubhouse. That’s pretty much the only negative thing I have to say about the golf club at Longwood .
I’ll definitely play this course again in the near future.
Longwood
Fun track, enjoyed seeing all the work they did paying off! Will be looking forward to playing here again.
Shaping up Well
I’ve played here before and the new course layout is great, the new holes are shaping up well, greens are receptive and quick
Great and challenging course
This is course is in top condition and it is challenging on the par 5’s and 3’s.
Great Time and a fun course
First time playing Longwood since the renovation. Remains a fun layout and a fun course to play. Really enjoyed the round.
Exceptional practice area compared to most other courses in Houston.
Fairways are good overall. A little thin.
Greens are nice and run fast. (Complete opposite of the old Longwood)
It's just not a $135, or $100 course. Or, I have to adjust my expectations of what a $100 round buys these days.
Would like to play it again. Hard to justify the price, though.
Great Pace
1st time playing since reopened a couple years ago. Confusing turns after hole 1 with 2 tunnels across road thru abandoned 9, otherwise excellent greens, Fast and nice. Could use signage on other side of tunnel only marked on path but not very visible. Very dry so lots of roll out so played shorter than I expected from the white tees. Lots of hardpan under trees outside fairway, but mostly good grass in fairway and only slight rough. Were paired up with some nice beginner teens so had 4 players but moved swiftly except for ball search finished under 4 hrs no problem. I will play this course again and do better on short par 4's because I will understand where to hit so as not to run thru fairway.
Great course
Haven’t played here since highschool 2005.
This layout is nice and challenging. We played the tips and it was mostly difficult off the tee which was nice since you gotta lock in.
Greens were in great shape no complaints. Finished our round in 4 hours and that’s with playing behind some newer guys.
Practice facility is nice!
