Aberdone
The course fairways were average and the greens bumpy. Although the course was wet, it still needs some work. It appears that they are working on it. Last two years this course has declined.
burn spots in fairways
Everything was good other than the burn out spots on many fairways
7:50 tee time.
Yes I was at the tee box right on time. I understand that 7:50 tee time needs to be there at 7:50 club in hand ready to tee off. So I was “late.” The gentleman in charge of teetimes pointed out that we were late then let a foursome go in front of us. The whole day there was a line of golfers behind us and the slowest for some in front of us. This was the foursome that the gentleman let play. At no point did a Marshall go up to this group and ask them to advance a whole because of how low they were playing. I’m not exaggerating there had to be six carts behind us for the entire back nine. Us waiting on the group in front of us and groups behind us at the tee box waiting on us.
At 7:50 AM on the tea box, there was seven people not including the other two that was supposed to be in our foursome. As far as I’m concerned, it looked like they booked nine people between 745 and 750. The two at 7:50 were already at the putting green. There was one solo player walking, and then the four for some in front of us that was extremely slow.
This is the first time in a long time I booked through GolfNow and there was no way for me to know how many people were starting at 7:50. I feel it would be better for you to call the course book your own teatime and ask information like, “ will we be the only foursome starting? Or how many golfers do you have booked at this time?”
It really might save you some time on the course. The three golfers in my group are not professionals but we do move quick and it took us four hours and 30 minutes. I have been here before it is a nice course. Maybe this was an off day.
Nice conditions
Love the course and staff. Played slower than usual on Monday the 18th of August. Otherwise, was a great day of golf!
Nice links layout
Course has a nice links layout. Most of the course is in good shape. Only had a few areas that were either burnt or bear dirt. Would definitely come back though.
Close to perfect
Great links style course with a fun layout. Bunkers need some sand but greens rolled pure and the course was in very good condition despite too much rain in the spring. I would absolutely play again if the price is right. A hotdeal made this very reasonable
Still solid in late July
Great course. Great staff. Doing a great job of handling the summer weather. Got 3 inches of rain 24hr before we played. 90%+ still in. 10/10 condition. Greens and tee boxes all perfect.
Course in bad shape
Played 18 holes. Overall, the course is in bad shape. Greens are OK, but the tee boxes and fairways are in poor condition. Sand bunkers are not well kept. Many areas were very soggy and/or under repair. Numerous ball marks on greens not repaired. I know that is on each player, but it also seems that etiquette on the course is dropping as well. This course allows bluetooth speakers and it has become annoying. I asked the group behind us to turn off the music at the tee box and was responded to with an expletive. I asked management after the round about dealing with this issue and they were of no assistance.
I wish
I've played here 25 years & loved the course. The bunkers haven't been touched in seems like 2 years when a links course bunkers are a key component of your round! Standing water in 80% of the bunkers. I usually would play the course 10+ times a year, but now 2 or 3. Tee boxes aren't good, bare spots throughout the fairways , greens are marginal at best. Staff knows me, but I don't care if they get irked at this HONEST review. The bunkers have mold growing on top of the untouched wet sand! They shouldn't be charging these prices at the condition of the course. I've have sent numerous people to this course since I work with the general public. At these prices I have 44 other courses in the area to be pleased with, thank you.
Aberdeen is still fun to play
The greens fees keep getting more and more expensive but the course isn’t getting any better. In fact, the conditions are slipping a bit and not the best value at $60. However, the layout is quite fun to play and the staff is great.
The tee boxes are alright but the fairways are pretty hit and miss. Most are good, some have big dead patches and quite a few had sections that were recently sodded and marked as GUR. Bunkers were playable and do remember that a couple seemed to have very fluffy sand and were excellent to hit out of. The greens were solid but, again, a number of them had dead spots and sections were not playable.
The course was crowded but we only had to wait a few times. Holes were placed in some tough locations. It is still an entertaining course and great to play, so I’ll keep going back, though.
