Whistler Golf Club

This course is located in the main Whistler village area Just on the other side of the highway ( you go under the highway to get there.

The driving range is back on the other side, so a bit of a walk. It’s an open driving range, not just for the course, so can be busy. There’s a practice green as well.

They allow you to walk the course, which I know some golfers enjoy. It’s not too hilly and very walkable.

There’s a fair bit of hazards to get in your way and it’s a good challenge. There are several tees to chose from.

The restaurant is nice and the service is good. It’s not big. There’s a pro shop as well.

In whistler for a week of golf and this was the first course we played. Staff was very friendly and range balls were free. Course was in fantastic condition. Greens were perfect and true. Fairways were also in great condition. Staff did a great job in keeping the tournament, that went off earlier in the day, moving along quickly. Completed the round in 4.5 hours. All the golfers up here from Vancouver said this was the best course in Whistler. Lastly, this is a great course to walk and we took advantage of the complementary pull carts.

WGC has long been a popular course in the whistler area. The Arnold Palmer design slope rating of 136 from the tips at just over 6700 yards is challenging. I’ve always loved the layout and tighter feel to nature than NN just down the road.

I’ve always been a big Nike gear junkie, so their Nike Pro Shop is another plus for me.

Overall the Whistler/Pemberton area for golf is spectacular and completely underrated. Don’t just play one, make sure you get them all in.

Great track but was put off by the fact you had to purchase range balls in addition to the green fee. Staff was friendly and the cart with iced towels was a very nice touch considering it was 90+degrees that day. Was great walking course to enjoy the views- would recommend.

Unfortunately we only had time for 9-holes, but were able to ride the back nine to get a feel. This is one of the more fun Palmer designs. It is a very pretty course with plenty of water and challenge. The elevation changes are not too dramatic, but used to great effect. Lots of forest around and a good amount of water. Only wish we could have played the back 9 instead of ride it. I would recommend this course.

Not my number 1 choice in Whistler but WGC does an overall great job.

From a fantastic pro shop and restaurant to their practice facilities.

Pace of play was a little slow and the seem to get more than their share of stags and "rookie" golfers which can be annoying if your serious about golf.

They do a great job at marketing and they are everywhere when your looking for golf in the area, their price is very good and so with that your going to get the "average joe" golfer.

Defiantly would go back again, probably would make sure it's a weekday and not so busy.

Right in the heart of town within walking distance of the Village Stroll is Whistler Golf Club, the course that started it all here when it opened in 1983. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and he apparently eagled the 12th hole during the grand opening, which is now named "Arnie's Eagle."

The course feels older than its 30-plus year history and it's probably because of the trees. There are some ancient ones out here. The two fir trees you see down the first fairway are said to be 480 years old, and there is a red cedar near a tee box on the back nine that is about 300 years old. You'll probably find yourself in the trees a fair amount. Fairways can feel narrow here.

Perhaps the unsung star of this course is the greens. Not only are they in exceptional condition but they can be very tricky. After putting flatter surfaces at Big Sky and dealing with mountain breaks at Fairmont Chateau Whistler, these were an entirely different animal and require your full attention.

During our Whistler trip, we stayed at the Crystal Lodge, which you can walk to, bag over your shoulder, to the clubhouse. There's also a driving range right by the street so you can hit some post-dinner balls if you'd like. This is a great complement to the resort/semi-private courses in town and still delivers a true destination golf experience with a little less of a price tag.

This course has really grown on my over the years. It was the first Whistler course and was built on a relatively small slice of land. Some of the holes make one feel claustrophobic and certainly make one reach for a hybrid or 3 wood even though there isn't much roll on the lush fairways.

There is a nice variety of holes with ponds, brooks and huge trees all coming into play in a cleverly designed course. If one is striking the ball well though it isn't too hard to hit lots of greens. Hitting and staying ON the green however can be two different things. These greens are usually stamping at about 10 which is fast for a resort course and they are VERY undulating. These are also small undulations.....a 20 foot putt might give you 2 or even 3 breaks. Chipping onto these greens and putting them is a real challenge. But they are smooth and roll perfectly so when you walk off with a few 3 putts on your card you can blame only yourself!

This is a very friendly place with enthusiastic, helpful staff. The food was served in generous portions and by exceptionally attractive and pleasant servers. We spent a very happy day there playing 36 holes and eating lunch and dinner.
