Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club
About
Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club was carved from the sloping hillside of the Coast Mountain Range. Robert Trent Jones Jr. deftly designed the course across ravines, creeks, and waterfalls, which accumulates to over 400 feet in dramatic elevation changes. Jones closely followed the natural contours of the rugged terrain, creating a golf course that blends seamlessly into the landscape. It shares a home with an abundance of wildlife as well including deer, black bears, and a variety of indigenous birds. Douglas firs blanket the course along with outcroppings of exposed granite rock. The generous fairways are lined with trees and deep bunkers are strategically placed throughout. One of Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club's most notable holes is the par-3 eighth, which begins at an elevated tee situated 80 feet above the green with a large pond to the left and granite cliffs to the right.

Women rental clubs
Everything was excellent at the golf course. The facilities were top-notch and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside, and something that continues to surprise me, is that women’s rental clubs are not equivalent to men’s sets — a 9-club set versus a 13-club set, yet at the same rental price. It would be great to see more parity here.
Great experience but I paid for it
The staff was amazing and very accommodating. I was paired with another single who thankfully was a member and had some course knowledge. I played during their twilight rate of $165. Unfortunately, you have to take a golf cart which is $70 (myself and my wife who rode along). I also paid $70 to rent clubs (Taylormade) but they did give you 2 sleeves of logo TM balls). There was no smoking on the course, so my cigars had to stay in the case. The course had received a lot of rain recently, so there was no roll and a number of very swamping/wet areas. The greens were very bumpy and didn't roll true because of that. They did have a snack house about hole 6 and then you pass by it again on the back nine. This course is a 18 hole loop (in that you pay 9 out more uphill and then 9 back more downhill). The fairways were more on the right side and if you were off the fairway or missed the green it was difficult to locate your ball or play out. The bunkers were wet and quite shallow and in some cases you could see the fabric protruding out of the sand. We played from the blue tees (6243 yds) and it was challenging enough. The signature hole, a par 3 was No. 8 playing about 185 yds with water to the left, a rock formation on the right, and both Blackcomb and Whistler Mtns distracting behind the green. We were fortunate enough to encounter 2 black bears and 2 coyotes while on the course, but kept our distance as did they. Please keep in mind that you can park at the course directly vs. visiting the Fairmont Whistler Hotel and being shuttled to the golf course as we did.
This course is not player-friendly at all.
Considering heavey rain during previois night, the course was quite wet. However, the layout was not player-friendly at all, especially uphill holes. Warning from a staff that we may loose more ball than usual was not a joke but a bragging about the very mean course design. I would be very hesitant with recommending this course to any of my friends. Of course, one time play for the experience was enough for me.
great day at fairmont whistler
Great challenging course which is sometimes more difficult for players with a handicap above ten, because you have to cross large ravines with underbrush. Course was in great condition with astonishing views and very challenging holes. We were as a Dutch pair surprised to see bears at hole 13 and 14, but we loved it. Great support of the staff before and after the round.
The greenfee was worth playing the course.
Top golf coursr
Great challenging course to play with stunning views. We also saw the bear twice on a great distance with was beautiful. The assistance of the staff was super. It would help if there are Marshall’s on the course to speed up play and may be and advice to play from a certain color tee based on handicap.
Scenic Course
Scenery was stunning, course layout was a beautiful trek through the mountains so have your cameras ready!
Mostly Narrow fairways with hazards crossing and lining each hole. Bring lots of balls if you're not a single digit. Greens were very slow, lots of G.U.R on several holes, carts were limited to cart paths only on several par fours and all threes. Driving range is small and an 8 min drive in your cart from the proshop so get there an hour early if you want to warm up. Great service from an energetic team front to back was excellent.
Great course
Great course and layout. Magnificent condition and all the golf team / staff couldn’t have been more helpful…. Well worth a visit !
Chateau Whistler
Always a great time playing Chateau Whistler even saw a few bears. Fantastic views and great conditions.
Excellent conditions
Chateau Whistler was in excellent shape yesterday on June 15. Best condition s of all the Whistler golf courses.
Disappointing
A good course layout let down by poor conditioning, especially the greens which can only be described as furry.
Staff were generally uninterested and unresponsive, in particular the restaurant, and well below the levels of service expected for the course. Shout out to the valet team however who did a great job of welcoming and generally being helpful.
Outstanding course!
I will definitely be playing here again. We'll worth the drive up to Whistler. Great experience right from the moment the Valle took our bags to the 18th hole. Wildlife, epic scenery, and an awesome challenging course. We played late spring and I can't wait to see the conditions mis summer.
Great course. Staff ok
The golf course was fabulous. Saw two families of Black Bears with their cubs. It was a tough course not knowing the layout. Staff - had to wait five minutes for the pro shop employee. He was on the phone but it would have been appreciated if he would have at least acknowledged me. Also we were not told that it was ‘cart path only’ due to the rain. It made for a long day walking to the ball and back to the cart. I may have chosen to use a pull cart instead. Note that all parking is valet.
Could’ve been better
We booked our tee time online and were quite let down with the “practice facility” which consisted of one putting green and a two person driving net for hitting balls. We were told that the driving range is a 10-15 minute drive away from the course if we wanted to use one. Once we started playing we found that the course had a very nice layout with some pretty fun holes but the course conditions were poor for the price of the round. Most of the fairways were dead and the ground was very spongy. Crazy amount of sand in the fairways as well. I think the price that we paid would be acceptable in high season when the course is in better shape but we finished feeling like we had over paid for the round that we had.
