Whirlpool Golf Course

Very nice design, course in good shape and pace of play was good. Only negative is the bar/restaurant closes way too early, can't get a beer after play unless you tee off before 3:00pm

The course was well maintained. Although each hole were straight shots with no undulations or true challenges, we had a great day and were paired up with two very nice young lads.

Downfall is that there is a seagull issue on many of the fairways. My partner ended hitting one and was devastated.

Also had geese on a couple other holes, which we all know, leave awful messes.

Other than the birds. All went very well. Good pace of play.

Came down from the states since this course was on my bucket list when I discovered it last season and it was the perfect golf course and everything I hoped it would be and more. Great experience, well taken care of. Staff was excellent. This is a course you must play. Highly recommend and I hope to have the opportunity again to play here. I suggest if your a beginner golfer play the forward tees as it’s definitely a challenging course but certainly playable

I love Stanley Thompson Designs. This is late era Thompson, not one of his great designs. The course still has good bones. I read somewhere that it is undergoing gradual renovations to return it to the master's original vision. They are not there yet. These guys could benefit from a trip out to Lachute to check out how a semi-private course is successfully reclaiming a Thompson design.

It is still mid-May and the course had received a lot of rain, so maybe when it dries out and grows in a little conditions may improve. But we played with locals who said that the course was slammed everyday. So...

The good: It has some of Thompson's signatures such as 200+ yard par threes, drivable par fours (for longish hitters), back to back par fives and some nice green complexes. There is real rough: missing fairways is a real punishment. A nice course to walk.

The bad: five hour+ round. Greens were so bumpy that anything other than a tap in was at best a fifty-fifty shot. The whole course looked like it could benefit from a little love. No drinkable water on the course (there was a drinks cart that came around a couple of times per nine).

In sum, a lesser Thompson design that is not particularly well maintained with slow pace of play and bumpy greens. Friendly staff and reasonable green fees salvage the experience. It was about ten years since I had played the course. I am sure i will try it again some time in the next five years when I have an afternoon in Niagara. Still beats going to the office.

What a great course. Amazing conditions and great staff make for a great round. ( helicopters are very annoying!

Was surprised to find so much of this course had ground under repair. Fairways were so full of divots and greens had so few ball mark repairs. Some bunkers had no rakes on the front nine. The overwhelming noise of the tour helicopters flying overhead to the Falls was distracting and took away any pleasure in playing a relaxing round of golf. Clubhouse food was great value and the staff were spectacular. Won’t be back.
