Aurora Hills Golf Course
About
Aurora Hills Golf Course is a par-72 course that stretches over 6,600 yards. Henry B. Hughes designed the course that opened in 1969. The fairly flat course has wide, tree-lined fairways and water hazards come into play on some holes. There are also a good amount of sand bunkers. Beautiful lakes situated on the course create a tranquil atmosphere. The course is easily walkable and the beautiful landscape makes for a nice stroll. The signature hole of this municipal course is the par-5 10th hole. It is considered to have lovely, scenic views. Aurora Hills Golf Course's greens are bent grass while the fairways use Bermuda grass.

Drought
With the drought in Colorodo the greens were perfect, Because of water usage restrictions the fairways were dry but tee were ok. Overall a good day.
Incredibly Rude Staff
My husband, our two children, and I had a 4:30 p.m. tee time and were playing nine holes. Around 6:30 p.m., while we were on our ninth and final hole, the course marshal, Steve, approached us and told us we needed to move faster.
I immediately responded, "I'm sorry, we'll go faster." Instead of simply accepting that response or having a respectful conversation, Steve screamed back, told us to look at the people behind us and "golf faster," then drove away.
I went to the clubhouse because I felt the interaction was unnecessarily rude and wanted to discuss it. What followed was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I have ever had.
During the conversation, three different men referred to me as "hysterical." Did I raise my voice? Yes. After repeatedly feeling dismissed, ignored, and talked over, I became upset. I also cried. Not because of golf, but because I felt like no one was listening to me and parts of the situation felt more like I was being mocked than heard.
At one point, in front of my daughter, I asked Steve to stop walking away from me and have a face-to-face conversation. Rather than addressing the situation, he threatened to call the police.
What makes this especially frustrating is that when Steve later spoke with my husband, my husband explained that we were not behind pace at all and that we were actually right on time. Steve agreed and admitted that he was wrong. In other words, the entire situation could have been avoided with a respectful conversation from the beginning.
Steve then told us he hoped this would not leave a bad impression of the course and that he hoped we would come back. My husband's response was simple: it is unlikely. No child should have to watch their mother be treated that way for asking to be spoken to with basic kindness and respect.
I am a new golfer and was excited to spend an evening on the course with my family. Instead, I left feeling humiliated and discouraged. I fully understand that course staff have a job to do and that pace-of-play conversations are sometimes necessary.
What is not necessary is speaking disrespectfully to customers, dismissing their concerns, calling them "hysterical," threatening them, and then later admitting the complaint was unfounded.
The golf itself was not the issue. The treatment we received was. Unfortunately, that is what our family will remember about this course.
Water 💦
Withe the water restrictions the course has some areas that are needing mother nature to help! Otherwise greens, t-boxes and fairways were nice. A fun course and great value!
Good course rude staff, limited in stock items
I got there early, while unpacking my things and loading up the golf cart, I was almost done and was asked to move everything 5 feet aside. OK fine. The starter is repeatedly yelling at everyone to start, even though I got to the tee area 2 minutes before my time I was asked to skip the first hole. Turns out there was nobody behind us so we were not holding anybody up. Those old guys made it seem like pace of play was important. There was a foursome ahead of us that was quite also and wasting time at many points during the course but no ranger to keep them on track. Club house and beverage cart staff were friendly but were out of a few things. Compact course design causing errant balls to come at you. Were almost hit by those a few times "fore" beware.
Good bones
Helpful and friendly staff, great greens, bustling restaurant. Pretty good practice facility all things considered. Basic muni layout, short, flat and easy. Lack of Marshall presence makes pace of play tough - lots of drunk beginners out here that lack etiquette, and that’s not hyperbole. Be prepared for a slower round and you’ll be ok. If you don’t have the patience, avoid weekends.
Great Course for beginners and good times
This course is decent value for what you get. Driving range is Irons only, so you don’t really get to practice with a driver.
Bar and restaurant is wonderful and always a good time after tee time.
Wonderful staff, and accessible course.
Lot of fun
Enjoyed the course. Greens were fast. Pace was excellent, staff was very helpful
A ranger would help
This is a terrific course for the price. However an almost 5 hour round is unacceptable. One group was holding everyone up. A ranger would help to keep the course on pace.
Fun Course
While visiting Aurora, we played this fun course. Fun layout and fairways/greens were in good condition. Being from Tampa, FL, we found the weather to be fantastic, although the locals thought it was hot. Lilly, beverage cart operator, was absolutely fantastic...we saw her 7 times during our round. The staff in the pro shop were fantastic as well as the bar. We will be back again.
Course was fun. Not very much slop on greens, conditions of course was great. Staff very Friendly.
Overland of Aurora...
Anyone from or familiar with Overland Park golf course off of Santa Fe and Jason Street knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about. The basics throughout the course. Hole#10 offers a nice little challenge off the tee to a right angle dog-leg Par-5 but this is really it for design/style on this golf course. All other holes are basically just right in front of you, FLAT, very little undulation on the greens, some thicker rough here and there but not consistent. For the price, NOT a good deal but something to play once a year or so. Cheers!
