The best way to celebrate the Rocky Mountains in summer is to play Colorado's best public golf courses.
GolfPass releases a Top 25 Public Golf Courses in Colorado every March thanks to YOU. We create our annual Golfers' Choice lists by curating the reviews submitted by everyday golfers. We use GolfPass' Ratings Index logic that weights newer reviews and combine it with a course's subcategory averages.
Each course needed at least two reviews and at least some public access to qualify. Golf courses in Colorado - all governed by the Colorado Golf Association - can range from flat golf courses in the valley to mountain golf that feels like a wild roller coaster ride. Both Denver and Colorado Springs are great golf destinations worth visiting for their public golf courses. The Norman Course at Red Sky Golf Club and the Fazio Course at Red Sky Golf Club both didn't received enough reviews to qualify. If you feel like they belong on this list, be sure to leave a review next time you play either course, which are accessible through local stay and plays.
We make our Golfers' Choice best-of lists user friendly. Simply click on the photo of each course to learn more about the facility or to book a tee time (in most cases).

Pole Creek Golf Club
Green fee: $85-$159
What they're saying: "We had a great time playing at Pole Creek Golf Course. The course was in excellent condition and we really enjoyed our round. Highly recommend it!" - garrhodes -
Commonground Golf Course
Green fee: $59-$80
What they're saying: "Played Commonground for the first time. (The) cost was very reasonable. Took a cart, but course is also very walkable and they have a caddie program where you just tip the caddie. I'll probably go that route next time I play. Flat course, I think you can see all 18 holes from the 1st tee. Course was in immaculate shape with very large greens. Rough was thick, but native areas were cut down some so you still had a chance to find your ball. Greens rolled very smooth but had less break than I thought. No beverage cart, but #9 does come back to the clubhouse. Numerous water stations, and food/ beverage was reasonably priced in clubhouse. Teed off around 11 on a weekday and pace of play was 4:15. I will definitely go back to Commonground." - Masokidum -
Lakota Links Golf Club
Green fee: $59-$89
What they're saying: "One of our favorites, play it every time we head up to Glenwood. Not a better bang for your buck out there. A championship course? One that you’ll be talking about for days, weeks, months in the future? Definitely" - mulligan118 -
Boomerang Golf Links
Green fee: $33-$50
What they're saying: "My first time playing 18 with the new south nine. The course is in very good condition, especially the greens. Pace was good." - johnallenjr -
The Golf Club At Bear Dance
Green fee: $89–$215
What they're saying: "This place is absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to have dreams about it, because it was so beautiful. Nestled in the foothills of the Rockies between Denver and Colorado Springs, Bear Dance is a must play if you're visiting in Colorado. Everything about this place was perfect, from the practice facilities, to the amenities, and especially the course itself. It was pristine from tee to green. The course plays fair if you can keep the ball in the fairway, otherwise it will eat your lunch. I'm a short hitter, usually hit drives around 220 at sea level, in a couple of the holes (#14 & #15), my drives went over 280yrds, which felt pretty awesome. I cannot wait to one day come back to Colorado and play this course again, and hopefully score better." - tiburonazo -
Vail Golf Club
Green fee: $64-$154
What they're saying: "Played this course 15 years ago and again 10 years ago. This time the course was lush and in great shape once again. Pace of play was a bit slow and could have.been managed better. Overall, this course is not a typical muni. Very well conditioned. Worth playing for sure." - VMT -
Ironbridge Golf Club Dr.
Green fee: $88-$198
What they're saying: "Highly recommend for experienced golfers !! My wife played the white tees and I played the silver. First time here and using rental clubs added to our challenge. Range is nice and staff was very friendly and helpful. Nathan in Pro shop was excellent!! Back 9 is an engineering accomplishment and it is Gorgeous!! It winds up and down the mountains and gorges and canyons!! This is a must play for all serious golfers!!" -ovejeff1847 -
Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club
Green fee: $95-$149
What they're saying: "My friend and I made a last minute tee time. They accommodated us quickly, had excellent rental clubs and gave us new balls to go with our club rentals. We played with another couple who were very friendly and luckily knew the course. The staff is friendly, (and) the course was stunning - I would love to play here again!" - GolfPass Reviewer -
Quail Dunes Golf Course at Fort Morgan
Green fee: $25-$30
What they're saying: "Great course for the money, and in great condition. Fairways are thick and green, greens are a little on the slower side, and very true. Highly recommend this track if you are in the area, or looking for a better value." - snlwright -
Fossil Trace Golf Club
Green fee: $85-$175
What they're saying: "Been planning this for quite awhile and it didn't disappoint at all... just wished I played better on the holes you see on the website. Being Father's Day, it was booked and the pace was slow as you would think...no marshall coming around to speed things up which was needed. Friendly staff and the overall setup was great. I would definitely play this again if I had the chance." - credog -
Desert Hawk At Pueblo West
Green fee: $36-$38
What they're saying: "This is a very nice course, that is kept in great condition. Things are spread out enough that you can normally find the ball you sliced 40 yards offline, but if you can control the ball and put your drives into the fairway you'll be rewarded with great lines into the greens. Last time we played here (late May 2024) there were no ball cleaner stations out, which was unfortunate, but outside of that, I have no complaints about the course." - GolfPass Reviewer -
Four Mile Ranch Golf Club
Green fee: $50-$72
What they're saying: "Great friendly staff. Pace of play was just over 4 hours. Greens were a little furry but in great shape. Nice green fairways and great weather." - RTomaselli1 -

Mad Russian Golf Course
Green fee: $41-$46
What they're saying: "We were the first ones out on the course today. We finished in about 3 1/2 hours. The course was in very good shape. The greens were of normal speed, but the greens all have some slope to them. So you have to take a good look to make sure you are lined up for your putts." - Arturo9902557 -
Cedaredge Golf Club
Green fee: $33-$54
What they're saying: "Haven't played course in over twenty years and found it still a lot of fun. Staff is extremely friendly and the players on the course allowed faster golfers to go through." - spuhler -

Green fee: $62-$72
What they're saying: "First time I've played Murphy this year, and wish I had been there sooner. Course is in excellent condition, and the greens are the best I've putted all season. Fast and smooth. As always the course plays tough down the stretch. Definitely worth a play if you want a challenge! Hope to return soon." - QuantumGolfx -

Plum Creek Golf Club
Green fee: $82-$94
What they're saying: "The staff here was so generous with giving a ride to the first tee a member of our foursome who was running late, and then retrieving a putter from our group that was left on the putting green! They were extremely friendly the whole way, gave good recommendations on food, and had some good deals in the pro shop. One of my favorite rounds I've ever played." - rookgc -
Pine Creek Golf Club
Green fee: $35-$55
What they're saying: "I thought this was the former Glenagles golf course (closed some time ago). What a great surprise to find and play here this season. Now, a golf season staple at least 5-6 rounds per season!" - DiamondAces -
Colorado National Golf Club
Green fee: $49-$120
What they're saying: "This course is in excellent condition, super fast greens. Ball will roll a lot in fairways but the rough will stop it dead. It’s best to sacrifice distance and be always on the fairways. This was our first time playing here and the course kicked our butt. Will definitely play again if possible since we are from Texas. 100% recommended, challenging course." - noroy2 -
Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club At Fort Carson
