Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Sandy greens
The course overall was in pretty good condition with the exception of the greens. It didn't appear they had been airrateted but they were heavily sanded with very little watering making for difficult putts . There are also almost no ball washers on the course.
..
Thank you for the fantastic rating, Sam13869! We're delighted to see you enjoyed your experience. Your support means a lot to us, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Worst Course in Katy
The course is in the worst condition I have ever seen. Greens look like the surface of the moon with huge craters (how does this happen?) and massive patches of dead/missing turf.
The tee boxes were like hitting off of a driveway--you can't even put a tee in the ground on half of them because they are so dry and hard.
The pace of play is atrocious. It took over 5 hours for us to play 18 holes--we never saw a Marshall enforcing pace of play so we just got to stand around waiting on the group in front of us while being hit into from the group behind us.
The golf cart was grimy and felt like it had been washed off with dog water in the back of a barn.
Paid $14 for a large bucket of balls before my round and the driving range was horrible--there was no grass and it was littered with used tees.
The entire staff here should be embarrassed with this course. This place used to be a good course, but now it's clear that they just don't care for quality and are only focused on volume.
They need to shut down the course maybe 1 day a week for the next year in order to really give it the attention it deserves. Otherwise it will just continue to deteriorate and people will stop showing up for $100 round of golf on a Thursday.
We appreciate your feedback and are truly sorry to hear about your experience. We're committed to improving the course and addressing these issues. Your comments about the conditions and pace of play are important to us as we strive to enhance our guests' experiences. Thank you for sharing.
Terrible
Don’t waste your money, terrible conditions on fairways and greens, rude staff it’s a shame.

course is in spring transition, booking starts on back nine is a mess
the course is a really nice layout, some nice bunkers and challenging holes. greens were very slow and patchy but it's spring and the grass is transitioning.
biggest complaint is they send people off as close as possible but they're also firing folks off number 10 on the back. I was the second tee time and we played the front in an hour and forty but got to 10 and just stopped.
Thanks for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the layout and found the course challenging. We appreciate your comments about the greens and pace of play; we’re continually working to improve these aspects. Your insights help us enhance the experience for all our guests. Hope to see you again soon!

Waste of money
It is sad to see how Cinco Ranch golf club has deteriorated over the recent years. This is my second round this year and I will not be coming back. The price value is not worth it. Greens are in terrible condition. Driving range is a pad of dirt and the putting green is closed. None of this is disclosed when you book. You are better off going to any other golf course.
We appreciate your feedback and are truly sorry to hear about your experience. We have been through some challenges this winter with course conditions, but are emerging on the other side. The greens are improving daily and the course will be back to normal soon. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and we hope you will give us another chance soon.
Rough
I booked online which included a cart fee. They paired me with others, which was expected but was told I had to pay extra to ride in my own cart, which is fine but misleading. The driving range was rough, the grass was basically nonexistent. There was no starter at the first tee, I teed off at my tee time, the starter caught up with me just off the green and told me I had to wait for my group. The greens are absolutely trashed. Construction folks who just walk across right in front of tee boxes while people are teeing off. We were told to pick up pace of play by the Marshall; which is fine but we weren’t off pace. Then we were told to slow down by the same Marshall. We were on pace, the guy was just being rude for rude sake.
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We strive to provide a great day on the course and will work on improving the areas you mentioned. Your insights are invaluable to us.

Typical Cinco Ranch
Greens were in rough shape, with LOTS of landmines and dirt clods all over. Very hard to find a good line. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. VERY slow....teed off at 4:30 pm, and took 3 hours for front 9

Horrible Greens
The greens at Cinco Ranch are awful. The fact that we still had to pay $100 is ridiculous. I will tell anyone who will listen to play somewhere else.
We appreciate your feedback, Mike. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the greens. Your concerns are important to us. As the weather warms conditions are quickly improving. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we hope to have the chance to provide a better experience in the future.
Course is okay
Greens are in rough condition and fairways could use a little love. The price is too high for the conditions we saw.
Thank you for your feedback, jmhuerta. We appreciate your insights on the greens and fairways, as we strive to maintain high standards. Your comments help us improve, and we hope to provide a better experience during your next visit.
Terrible putting greens for the fees
The conditions of the putting greens was abysmal. For the the conditions, it should be $40-$50 value for the course. I'm fine withe the conditions if the price justifies it. E.g. Melrose golf course and Sharpstown are worth the price given their conditions.
We appreciate your feedback, etello3. Your input is invaluable as we strive to improve our course conditions. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
Poor
I have never played Cinco Ranch and was very much looking forward to it! However, I was shocked at how poorly kept this course was maintained specifically the greens.
Fairways and tee boxes were in decent condition, but greens were simply “un-puttable”. Too many bare spots and a large amout of, for lack of a better term, craters on the greens which made for very inconsistent results. For you price is right fans, I Felt like I was playing “plinko” on every green watching my ball bounce around on the way to the cup.
To charge $100 for this course is unacceptable! I won’t be coming back as there are courses offering much better value than Cinco Ramch.

Awful Condition
It’s been a bit since I’ve played Cinco Ranch, and I was shocked at how poorly kept this course has been. You can tell from the overall condition that it is more than the lack of rain in the Houston area this winter.
Fairways were in terrible condition, only surpassed by how “un-puttable” the greens were. Traps were in terrible condition, no consistency in sand and the lips haven’t been trimmed or patterned in years!
To charge $90 for this course is robbery! I won’t be coming back as there are better value options in Houston!
Thank you for your feedback. This winter has presented some challenges for course conditions, but our maintenance team is actively working to improve the fairways, greens, and bunkers. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope you’ll consider visiting us again as conditions continue to improve.
Horrible greens
Most of the greens were too slow and were not in a fair shape.

Lots of Construction. really Bad Greens
There was a lot of construction going on, but it didn't impact pace of play, just aesthetics. While it is likely that the poor conditions were due to the grass being dormant, the greens were horrible. There were greens that had hundreds of rings on them from where the holes were moved improperly. 3-5 of the greens had 5'-10' sections of dead/diseased turf.
The staff was very friendly and the clubhouse was nice. For the $115/round I paid I expected much better course conditions though.
Thank you for your feedback. This winter has presented some challenges for course conditions, but our maintenance team is actively working to improve the greens. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope you’ll consider visiting us again as conditions continue to improve.

A good day for golf in Texas!
Found a great deal on GN. Weather was perfect for golf. Partly Sunny, mid, 70's and a light breeze. Considering the time of year the course was in remarkably good condition.
Thank you for sharing your experience, sesocha! We're thrilled you enjoyed the perfect weather and found a great deal. It's fantastic to hear that the course met your expectations. We hope to see you back out on the greens soon!

Descent course
Staff was courteous and professional. The only real drawbacks, greens were in horrible conditions and the lack of restrooms throughout the course. For the amount being charged for Tee times, restrooms would be great to have throughout the course.
Thank you for your feedback, gn29293672. We're glad to hear you found our staff courteous and professional. We’re actively working on improving the greens and restroom availability to enhance your experience. Your insights are invaluable as we strive to provide a better visit for all our guests.
