Golf Club at Cinco Ranch

Course was in good shape. Havent played here since they lost their greens a few months back. Their greens are back and rolling great. Pro shop help was friendly. Starter could use some people skills. Overall, a good experience.

Course in good condition. Greens rolled fast and true. Pace of play was good. The starter always and STILL has an attitude. How this guy has a job idk. Other than that a great experience. With so many homes around i have always said this course needs to put in more than 1 restroom on the course.

I have played this course for years. Great layout and in reasonably good shape. I would disagree with several hole ratings (#1 hdcp. is way too easy) and say the course should really be re-rated.

The greens were in nice shape, as were the fairways. However, less care was taken in maintaining the rough areas on many holes. This is why I play “Hot Deals” and pay a little less. The course is NOT worth the regular weekend rate of $120+ without some better maintenance and attention to details (the sand bottles on cart were empty or very low; the sand bottle station bottle were all empty; there were areas in fairways that I would consider under repair but no white markings anywhere). The cart girl was very friendly and came around ample times for the round.

Overall, worth the GolfNow price but would not pay regular rates.

I’ve played Cinco Ranch Golf Club more than 20 times over the years, and after returning last Sunday for the first time in several years, I was genuinely disappointed by how poorly this facility is being managed.

I’ve played golf since the fifth grade, spent years as a single-digit handicap, and played courses across the country, including Pebble Beach, Tucson National, and TPC Scottsdale. I understand the difference between a challenging golf course and a poorly maintained one. Unfortunately, Cinco Ranch has become the latter.

Customer Service: Unacceptable

The experience began in the pro shop, where the staff seemed completely indifferent to customers. No greeting, no welcome, and no meaningful customer service.

Unfortunately, the starter was considerably worse.

After paying for my round, a bucket of range balls, and an additional rider fee so my wife could accompany me, I was assigned a cart with an obviously damaged front axle. I noticed the problem almost immediately upon moving the cart.

When I informed the starter, his response was essentially, “Yeah, right,” dismissing a legitimate equipment safety concern.

I had to insist on taking another cart.

To make matters worse, returned carts were blocking the designated route to the driving range, forcing me to drive across maintained grass to reach the practice area.

The starter’s poor attitude continued at the first tee. Despite my having paid for an additional rider, he challenged my wife’s presence in the cart. After I reminded him that I had paid for her, he acknowledged it but then announced that our group would have to wait while he retrieved another cart for our fourth player.

Meanwhile, another group was brought to the tee behind us before our group was even ready.

This was disorganized, unnecessary, and entirely avoidable.

Driving Range: Embarrassing

For a facility charging more than $100 for a round, the driving range is unacceptable.

The hitting area consisted of approximately three-and-a-half-inch-tall, tangled grass, weeds, and mixed turf. There was no properly maintained hitting surface.

As someone who understands proper range etiquette and divot management, I was equally disappointed to find no sand available for repairing divots and no convenient facilities for cleaning clubs afterward.

These are basic amenities that should be expected at a golf course charging premium rates.

Tee Boxes: Severely Neglected

The tee boxes were nearly as bad as the driving range.

Overgrown turf, inconsistent grass conditions, and a remarkable lack of level hitting surfaces made finding a proper stance unnecessarily difficult.

A tee box should provide a reasonably level, well-maintained surface from which to begin a hole. That is fundamental golf course maintenance, not a luxury.

Fairways: Good, but Neglected Divots

The fairways were actually in reasonably good condition.

Unfortunately, unrepaired divots were widespread. Players certainly bear responsibility for repairing their damage, but the maintenance staff should also be addressing accumulated divots.

Bunkers: Completely Unacceptable

The bunkers were among the worst aspects of the course.

Rather than properly maintained bunker sand, they contained hard-packed material mixed with numerous pebbles, some approximately a quarter-inch in diameter.

The bunkers appeared to have received little meaningful maintenance for an extended period.

I was unwilling to risk damaging my sand wedge by striking rocks in what should have been a sand bunker.

These conditions are simply unacceptable for a course at this price point.

Greens: Outstanding

Credit where it is deserved.

The greens were in the best condition I have ever experienced at Cinco Ranch. They looked excellent, rolled beautifully, and were clearly receiving proper attention.

The practice putting green was equally impressive.

Whoever is responsible for maintaining the greens deserves recognition. Unfortunately, that same standard of maintenance is not evident throughout the rest of the facility.

Pace of Play: Excellent

Pace of play was excellent, although the course was not particularly busy.

It was one of the few genuinely positive aspects of the experience.

Overall Assessment

Cinco Ranch has the potential to be a very enjoyable golf course. The greens demonstrate that the facility is capable of maintaining excellent playing conditions.

However, excellent greens cannot compensate for indifferent customer service, an unnecessarily confrontational starter, a defective golf cart, neglected practice facilities, uneven tee boxes, and bunkers filled with rocks.

At more than $100 per round, customers should expect considerably better.

Based on my experience, the overall quality of the facility and service was more consistent with a $35 municipal course than a premium-priced golf club.

The most disappointing part is that many of these problems are not complicated to correct. They require basic maintenance, attention to detail, proper staff training, and management accountability.

Cinco Ranch is charging premium golf prices without consistently delivering a premium golf experience.

Until management addresses these issues, I cannot recommend playing here at the current rates

Course was in good condition and pace of play for a Saturday was great. Entire staff were great!

Great course and greens were immaculate. Fairways were in good shape. Rough is kind of thick but we shouldn’t be in there anyway. I’ll be back next time I’m in town

Overall we had a good day. Enjoyed our game and pace was great. On fifth hole a marshal approached us and asked us to get two more club set because we were taking too long. There was no issue of timing

The staff in the pro shop was and are always great

The grumpy old gent in the starter shack should not be allowed contact with a customer paying $122 to play golf. Rude, not friendly, a negative experience for everyone who deals with him.

For the benefit of the doubt, I wanted to try this GC as I heard so many bad comments about the pace of place here. I actually got lucky to finish a full round for about 3.5 hours. That’s amazing. I guessed I just played in the afternoon of one of the hottest week here. Overall, it’s worthwhile. I will try to come back sometime during the cooling season to see how the pace of play is going to be.

EXPECT 5-6 hour rounds out here. It’s booked solid with 4 somewhere that refuse to let you play through. Etiquette isn’t a thing here. The course itself is ok but the amount of time required to play is unrealistic. If I’m a single I should be able to play through. Nope not out here.

This course continues to be a quality course. The course is well maintained, friendly staff and its easy to randomly join a foursome and the group will be friendly and fun. The course is busy all week and packed on the weekends but the greens and fairways still look great for the heat of the summer. This is one of my favorite courses in the area. It’s not cheap but not over priced.

This course used to be in good shape with an acceptable layout. It was always pricey but without any money invested in the course, it makes this an awful value. The bunkers are a hard pan, the greens are dry, the fairways blend in with the rough. Even the cart path is so bad that they are likely so cause an injury. Disappointing.

Faiways are in good condition. The greens appears to have been recently aerated and plugs of dirt were all over the greens!
