Modified par three (??) Photo submitted by perimeterblack on 10/09/2020
Haven’t played in a while
I can only speak on two of the three nine hole courses. Grove was in GREAT condition and well worth playing. I hadn’t played at Pecan for more than a year because their conditions were getting bad on the course. Pleasantly surprised at our front nine I thought everything had changed. Then I got to pecan. While some of the greens were OK several of them were so bad. You should just take add two strokes once you hit the green and move on. Most of the greens on pecan are unacceptable and unplayable. They reminded me of why I stopped playing at this course. I will say the staff was very friendly and helpful. And also the clubhouse looked to have been slightly updated since I have last been there. It was lighter and brighter., great job there.
It can go either way
I’ve played here a few times since moving from another state. It advertises 27 holes but have only had 18 open anytime I play. The middle 9 just renovated is fantastic! Then the other nine is showing a little neglect. If they can rebuild and maintain - it will be great, however they are going private. The handful of members I observed make it obvious they don’t like the public playing. It’s too bad - it’s real close to my home but not in their mud district - so would I go back? Likely yes until they are private. But I will continue to explore and try out courses moving forward. Pecan Grove is a good “hot deal” course, but going fully private is their priority.
Tuesday afternoon at Pecan Grove
Staff members and the course itself are worth returning to this place. But some of the players lack golf course etiquette (the Marshal did a great job in handling the situation - thanks).
A tale of 2 courses
The newly renovated Grove 9 was in excellent shape. Greens are to brag about. However the Pecan 9s greens are needing the same loving. Had to move my ball many of times on the Pecan 9 but no complaints at all on the Grove 9. Friendly staff. Can see some plans in motion there. Just bare with em as it looks like they are getting it done.
needs TLC
I know it has been raining lately, but the course has not been kept up lately. Also, the greens are in terrible shape. its going to be quiet a while before this course is back up to its standards. there are many municipals around town offering way better conditions.
Horrible greens
Greens were in very bad shape Weeds growing on the greens.
Disappointed
I have played the course multiple times. I have been encouraged by the new leadership. However.. the greens were unplayable, pace of play was horrific.. my partners left after 13 holes. I ended up skipping two holes for slow play. There were marshalls there but they didn’t seem to care about pace but only keeping the carts in the path. For a Friday afternoon this is unacceptable. Was considering a membership but it is not worth it.
Terrible course conditions - punched greens no notice
This course is convenient for me since it’s only 12
Min from my house. I knew that it would be CPO due to heavy rainfall two days prior.
What was unbelievable is that neither Golf Now, nor the pro shop mentioned that half the course would have punched greens.
Incredibly disappointing that there was zero discount on the fees. I can easily pay full price for a course that has all greens operable, but this is absurd.
Don’t play here unless you call the pro shop first and ask questions. Shame on both Pecan Grove and Golf Now
Tees & Greens are ATROCIOUS
For $85, this course is not worth it. EVERY green had a fungus and you need a drill to set your tee, the tee boxes are that hard!!! Gotta do better! SMH…..
Thursday afternoon at Pecan Grove CC
Overall course is good but the greens are very patchy.
Greens are not ok
Nice course, but the greens are in a terrible condition. Somebody said ”concrete wits some mud on top”. Otherwise a very nice course.
Great Course - Horrible Greens
Course is very good. Challenging and a very good layout. However, the greens were absolutely horrible. There wasn’t a straight putt anywhere. Craters. No grass. Just bad. Since there isn’t a discounted rate for this issue, they should notify players and maybe even put in temp greens in front while they do some much needed repairs.
Nice afternoon of golf
Overall, enjoyed the course. The fairways are wide open and well laid out with some water on the course to keep things interesting. The greens were pretty challenging with all their drop-off and quickness.
My only complaint were the greens, some of them were not in the greatest shape and very dry and hard.
