Willow Fork Country Club

About
Jay Riviere was hired to build Willow Fork, which opened in 1990 and lays out over an open prairie that once harvested rice and cattle. His links-style terrain features some of the natural wetlands as well as additional water hazards.
These wetlands are evident on holes 4-6, a picturesque stretch where alligators roam and errant balls are usually gone forever. No. 9 is the most challenging, a 447-yard par 4 lined on the left by the bayou. It features an approach over a lake that fronts the green.
Getting there : From I-10 west, take the Fry Rd. exit and turn left. Drive 3.5 miles to Westheimer and turn right, then you'll see the club on the left.

Decent course but monotonous layout
Talk about Deja vu all over again - there must be at least 6 holes that look exactly the same ! Fairways were ok but some really horrible lies 10 yards off the fairways ! Rock hard dirt and roots that should be GUR but nothing marked off ! Greens average speed for a public course but well below standards for a decent CC.
Fairly Typical Suburban Track
I played the course from the tips and it is not challenging. Almost all the par 4’s require the same two shots. Bunkers and tee boxes definitely needed attention. I would only play here again because my co-worker is a member. Personally, I have no interest in becoming a member myself because there are such better club alternatives in the Katy area.
