Rock Creek Park Golf

There has not been even the most basic maintenance to this course. They SHOULD NOT be charging people to play here until they resume care of this course.

I have played here many times in the past and it was a nice place.

When you pay $19pp, you don't expect much, and we didn't get much. The course is in pretty bad shape. In particular, the grass on the fairways is at least "rough" quality on a normal course, and maybe even "deep rough". But the two most disappointing things were: (1) the website said we would have a riding cart, and there were no riding carts, and (2) the push carts they had available were in very bad condition, so we ended up having to carry our clubs. The one bright spot was the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I felt bad that such good people were stuck at such a bad course.

Good news for those of you who are used to hitting out of the deep rough, because that’s the whole course. If you pay for the cart online, you get a hand cart that may or probably won’t actually work. The course used to be great value for the money, but now it’s simply an unkempt field masquerading as a golf course. I only played 3 holes before I gave up. Not saying don’t ever play here, just saying look for the recent reviews before you do.

This is the most poorly maintained course I have ever played in my life. Every single pushcart was broken and they don’t actually rent carts, despite how hilly the course is, expect to carry your bag. The entire fairway is 2-3 inch high rough and the rough is worse. You will lose balls in the fairway, and they greens are awful. Have very low expectations.

The course is really in terrible shape. The whole place needs a complete makeover, and I hope they can sort out the politics to make it happen because this is unacceptable.

The course is in horrible shape, but it’s cheap so a place to go practice a bit. I would treat this more as an extended driving range than an actual golf course.

You really need to be a dedicated golfer to enjoy this place—the name "Rock Creek" says it all. The course is tough in a good way, thanks to the rolling mounds scattered throughout. You might hit a great shot off the tee, but the mounds make it hard to see where the ball lands—finding it is part of the challenge and why the pace tends to be slow. The balls roll quickly on the "Rock Creek" fairways, and the greens also, even with morning dew.

I'll definitely return—the uninspired attitude of the "starter" didn’t bother me. However, there’s nothing to do here golf. The empty store has a drink machine, but that’s about it.

All greens had dozens of ball marks and had been vandalized. When I complained staff laughed in my face.

I’ve played this course many times over the years. Staff is friendly and course is fun to play and also possible to get on the course on short notice with can be a challenge in the DC area. This course will always be fun to play but conditions were a little ragged - basically no fairway with grass seemed like rough all the way around.

Horrific greens and fairways. Playing on asphalt is better than this place.

Went looking for a ball and now have poison ivy. I have no idea why folks give this course more than 1 star.
