Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club (formerly known as The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford) is one of the most affordable rounds in the area and it has received praise as one of the best golf courses in Connecticut. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for beginners but low handicappers will also find it to be a fun round. The holes are fairly straightforward though there are some fairways that have very narrow landing areas that will test the accuracy of even the best golfers. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed along the undulating greens and water also comes into play on the occasional hole. The golf course starts out gently but becomes progressively more challenging on the back nine. The most memorable hole on the golf course, the par-3 12th, is a water hole that features an intimidating island green.

Good course great price
Fairways and greens are in good shape, the cut right next to the fairways are a little long good overall for the money
Wet but still playable.
Played the course yesterday. We had two days of heavy rain. Course was wet but playable. Cart Path Only so I walked almost 10,000 steps.
I highly recommended this course. Played here 3 times this year.
Rough shape
Staff was super nice. Course is not maintained and very pricey for the conditions compared to other local courses
They need to spend money to better care for the course or lower the rates
Nice course but cut the rough.
The course was in good shape except for the rough which was very thick. It was difficult to get out of it even for experienced golfers like my husband . Overall the greens and fairways were very good. The layout is a bit tricky.
Overall ok
Could definitely use a ranger 5 hour round with a very slow group in front of us. Golf now deal was a God price
Friendly staff nice carts. Course is not easy so depending on what you like but I will play again
No dress code
Absolutely no dress code there was people out there and work boots with T-shirts and jean shorts and that says it all right there pace of play was horrible because there were people shooting at least 15 shots per hole so a round of 18 holes took us just under six hours, which is absolutely absurd if you’re gonna let anybody show up and play it’s not a course for me. That’s for sure and I have better things to do then stay on a golf course for six hours!
The sad part is is all the staff are wearing collared shirts, but yet they let anybody out on the course dressed however, one girl wasn’t even playing. She looked like she belonged on a dance pole not a golf course.!
Greens were excellent. Fairways decent. Tee boxes awful.
We had a foursome in front of us, and the league starting in back of us. So we felt a little rushed.
Enjoyed Playing Wheeler
The course is in very nice condition. Pace of play was great on Wednesday, our 4-some finished in under 4 hours. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was good and reasonable priced.
I highly recommend this course.
Great value
great course for value. well kept fairways and greens. Took about 3.5 hours for morning (7am) rounds during 4th of july weekend
