Not the same
For a course that was spectacular when it was private it’s gone down hill. Nothing on pro shop bar not open and no starter or staff around. Greens were in good shape but shaggy. Fairways need work and bunkers full of rocks. Players don’t seem to understand to take the bunkers. Never seen anything like it. Layout is its best attribute. Owners need to invest some money. Could be a top public course if they cared
Poor condition
This is a course that I was a member at 15 years ago. At that time it was in great shape. I was really looking forward to playing it again. My wife and I were really disappointed with the condition of the course. Even around the greens were brown. We won’t be returning.
The course is very nice!
Good course in the middle of Lakewood, IL. I like to play there every once in a while. Beautiful course and surroundings. Driving range is a little pricy.... but all in all, a great course!
Good bones but needs some serious love
This course was probably awesome back when it was a CC. It is a pretty layout but tired now. It reminds me of chapel Hill and the former village greens in terms of conditions and clientele. Houses on the course are pretty to look at, but they must be bummed the course is what most of us would call a dog track. Happy I finally played there as I wanted to for a very long time. Probably would not play again unless super cheap price and I was super desperate for a place to play last minute. Oh well.
Staff probvem and booking issues
Book to play 18 at 2:00 Started on the front nine and when we reached the turn they place a league in front of us that they schedule now every Thursday at 3:30. We paid for 18 and then have to wait for the entire league to finish our round. NOT RIGHT AT ALL.
I asked them why would you do that when it takes 2 hours to play nine? There was also a group in front of us that got the same treatment. The week before we had to play while they were turning sprinklers on in front of our group play and we had to play in the wet fairways and in the sprinkler while they watch us. This was at 2:30 just when we started. They are not happy that we get a discount and therefore treat us badly.
There isn't that many courses near me as each year they drop out of gold now.
THE PASS MAY NOT BE RIGHT FOR ME ANY LONGER
Friday t time
Course is in good shape overall.
Dissapointed in the sand traps. Not maintained well at all.
Old golf carts, or just crappy?
Busy day, Friday before Father’s Day, so expected a longer than normal round. Didn’t expect our cart to stop working on the 2nd hole. Called the pro shop and no answer, called main line and was put on hold, told me that there was no one in the pro shop. Waited 10 minutes, finally got through and they though a new cart. Continued on and made the best of it, but then on the 15th hole, our playing partners cart died. They called the pro shop and had the same experience, couldn’t get through. They picked up their bags and started walking so the could at least continue their round. Unless you’re planning on walking, I would suggest go elsewhere. I’ll never be back.
Overbooked, fairways need haircut
Staff openly admitting they overbooked. 5+ hour round. People behind is left on tee box 2 after seeing 4 groups on the par 5. They just added people in because they didn’t block out what was booked. Fairways way too long…mow please.! Sand traps haven’t had work in a long time.
Weird day
Started as a single but eventually partnered up because of slow play by a twosome two groups ahead. Eventually it became a foursome when other people caught up. This all happened in the first six holes it was so bad and no one was around to police it. Thankfully, they left after nine and we cruised through until 17 when the cart ran out of gas. We spent more time trying to get up the hill than playing. We called and someone came out right away but still….how does a cart go unfilled before the day starts. Overall, it was a beautiful day for golf, just a few hiccups that could have been avoided by the course management.
