Friday afternoon round of golf
It started out cool and windy as the rain had just moved out, but ended up sunny and beautiful. Front 9 we waited a bit for the 4some in front of us, but not bad. They only played 9 holes so back 9 was great.
Nice track to play
It is a sport course. Make you think.
Have to keep it down the middle.
All great, except the design
1st time playing the course. People in the Pro Shop were super nice, as was the starter. The clubhouse itself was decent as well - looks like it's had recent remodeling. Warm up area was ok, but practice green was good.
My beef is with the course design. There are some truly awful holes from a design perspective for a public course. Examples - #1 (totally blind from tee), #7 (a total mess), #8 (extremely narrow 2nd shot), #18 (if you can't hit a cut off the tee, you're hosed). There are some good holes, but these just ruined it for me.
Mid
Course Layout is too tight. Barely missing the fairway puts you on another hole (risking hitting other golfers). The bunkers are hard as a rock
Improving!
Best condition I’ve seen it in….Greens were GREAT for early season
Hidden Gem
Greens needed a little attention, but weren’t bad or annoying to putt on. Course is in good shape and is a surprisingly creative layout. My only complaint is that the bunkers were concrete, and I don’t mean maybe. I’m talking about zero, not any free grain sand in between the ball and hard pan. As a sand bunker connoisseur, this was highly disappointing, but also, this was seemingly random as some bunkers were average. Overall, the layout and the scenic holes, with the additional benefit of the seasonal scenery, it was a breath of fresh air.
Beautiful course but...
The fairways are laid out so close to each other that we had to stop play several times to let people coming toward us tee off, hit a second shot or hit onto their green. The more impatient players simply hit into us so we had 4 near misses and one direct hit into the cart.
The course is interesting and well cared for. Staff is excellent. Unfortunately we will not be back.
Great track
Course has a great layout and a fantastic practice facility. Green were kept well but did have some minor issues from high traffic. I would definitely play thei course again.
Where am I going?
I’ve never seen a course with such a confusing (and “goofy” layout). It’s one thing to be confused about which way to go on diverging cart paths (which happens often), but there are a few holes where it’s not even clear where the fairway is. I found the layout confusing overall and as a result did not enjoy the course.
Really nice
A nice and challenging course, well maintained and fun to play
Challenging course
I last played this course 15 years ago in. Church outing. I read the reviews, and saw a couple from Debbie Downer. None of those were the case yesterday.
Course was in great shape. My reservation was ready (great seat to Golf Now). The staff was friendly, the clubhouse is in great shape. Pace of play was fine. I wish my score would have been better - but part of that is due to the challenging course layout. Cool Creek runs back and forth throughout both the front and back 9’s, so prepare to lose a ball or /!
Challenge
Great course. In town for work and was able to slip out one afternoon for a round. Pays to be accurate off the tee on this tight course. Greens were rolling nice. If ever back in the area i would definitely play again. Pace of play wasn’t great, had to wait on almost every hole as a single. Would’ve been happy to play through or join up with others. No Marshalls or staff on course other than 1st and 10th tee. Staff was friendly nonetheless and course was in great shape. Recommend for the price if you’re in the area.
They cut the trees!!!!
Well, I had to come back and try it again. I played it on Tuesday so came back Thursday. They ended up cutting down a couple of the small trees that were kind of starting to grow in the way, which was really nice. The pace and of play was greatI I did come at 3 PM and play the hot deal. I was done by 6:40 PM. This might be One of my new little honey holes. Great place!
Great spot
Over all, great place! They need to trim a few trees, the course was still wet so 90 degree golf it is! And with a discount code it was even better!
