Prairie View Golf Club
About
Prairie View Golf Club is a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design – the only one in the state of Indiana. Laid out across 206 acres along the banks of the White River, the course is characterized by rolling prairie land interspersed with stands of oaks and sycamores. In addition to the course’s more than 80 bunkers, five lakes, a stream and natural wetlands provide diverse challenges to golfers playing any of the course’s five sets of tees.

A great golf experience
I believe I reviewed Prairie View a few years ago, but wanted to update with some additional information. First of all, the rate has increases considerably since I previously played the course 3 or 4 years ago. However, with that increased rate comes lunch after your round. The lunch was outstanding (so was the service) which helped to offset the considerable increase in greens fee. The course is a wonderful layout (unfortunately, we played in about a week or so after aerification) with great undulating greens, rolling fairways, intimidating bunkers, and a decent amount of water hazards. This course will challenge you.
One thing about a claim of the course that always kind of bugged me, though. Prairie View claims to be the only course in Indiana that was designed by Robert Trent Jones. That's simply not true. Otter Creek in Columbus, IN was designed by RTJ in 1964. Don't let that erroneous claim keep you from a great golfing experience at Prairie View.
Great course and staff
You need to play here if you haven't. PURE!
Very nice course
Very challenging course but very nice course to play on.
Junk
This used to be a great place but the managers don’t care anymore and they old guys who run it walk around and act like their course doesn’t stink.
Excellent Venue
Prairie View offers both a challenging layout with well maintained fairways and greens. Practice range is adequate to prepare for tackling the course. Easy to get to from central Indiana area. Highly recommend.
Greens
Was disappointed this evening with the condition of the greens. Never in the history of PV have I seen so many pebbles and coarse sand on every single green. Made putting nearly impossible. Bumpy bumpy bumpy!
Hopefully this isn't a sign of what's to come from the new ownership!
Come on PV, just a couple guys with leaf blowers would help tremendously!
Save your money.
Play The Fort. For the same amount of money the Fort is a much better course. Lay out is uninspiring. Staff rude. Definitely not worth the 98.00 dollars I paid to play.
Poor customer service
Course was in good shape and challenging. Day started off poorly due to the extremely poor customer service by pro shop employee. He had a I do not care attitude and was less than friendly. Building was being remodeled and no ammentiies available. Outside toilets only. New owners in place and they must secure a staff that is customer friendly. The person that signed us in should not be in a position where he interacts with the public. Worse customer service attitude of any golf course I ever played. Would suggest any other golf course just for this reason.
Save Your Money
Ridiculous punitive grass, higher than the US Open. The only difference is the pros have spotters along the fairway to mark the pros balls.
No such luck here.
Save your money.
Waste of Money
Grass is longer than the US Open. Overly punitive. Why pay 100 dollars to lose balls just off the fairway.
Pros don’t play in conditions like this when they are not on tour. Why would you?
At tournaments there are people lining each hole to mark balls where they land..
Never fails to impress
This was my second round here. Still is my favorite course in the indianapolis area. Very well kept, and pace of play was great.
Fun round
Played in 35 MPhil gusts which made for a fun round. Course was in excellent shape, especially given this springs weather. Played hard and fast. Staff was friendly and engaging. Would recommend
PV is the only RTJ. Jr course in IN. Otter Creek is RTJ Sr.
