Expensive/Range Iron only
First off this is one of the first courses i played as a new golfer. It was definitely challenging and course layout is intimidating at first. Grew to love playing there with friends, but over time the course got too expensive and members acted like course officials or as most people call them “karens”. The off course chipping and putting green is a nice touch but the range has its own problem. I completely understand that development in these areas can create problems for houses being located closer to the range or course than preferred. But the range is Irons only at almost all times if not permanently. If you want a membership there keep that detail in mind as the range has houses located to the right of it hence the irons only signs. I do find this a bit lackluster for someone who really wants to practice with their woods or driver, especially someone new. A slice is bound to happen to any of us every now and then especially when youre new. If i had a recommendation for glenn oaks country club it would be to drop the monthly memberships a bit and try to work with the homeowners next to the range about putting up nettinf of some kind and allow a full range. This and the price of membership has turned me away from renewal on my membership. Overall id rate Glenn oaks a 3/5
Not Going Again
Course was way too hilly and sloped. Took almost 6 hours to play and lots of Tee boxes were dirt.
Glen Oaks
I have played this course several times over the past 10 years, this was the worst condition I have ever experienced, it has a great lay out, I would be embarrassed if I were a member, Glen Oaks, You can do better
Not up to par
Lots of crab grass in fairways. I've seen Metro courses in better shape. Several Par 4 fairways are roped off not allowing carts. These are a permanent thing. Many greens spoiled by old holes left by golfers not fixing ball marks. Should be on green keeper's "to do" list.
Lil Rough out there
Have played here many times over the years. This might be the first time I was disappointed in the shape of the course. I know the weather has been rough on golf courses but I've played many local that have maintained their quality. Several fairways have lots of crabgrass growing in heavily. Greens have issues with cicada killer wasps. Several greens have severe burnout where the fairway and green meet. I enjoy the course and will be back, here's to hoping they can get the course turned around.
Needs work
Course was in rough shape, everything was beat up from the driving range to the practice greens, tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in bad condition for the price.
This course is advertised as 6800 yards but is only 6500.
Its an interesting course but needs work
Run Down
I have played this course a few times a year for the last 10 years. It is in the worst condition I have seen, Collars around the greens were a mess, Greens had 1/2 in holes from bugs, t boxes grass was dead / rotten. Carts old style gas with no gps and the cart paths have major pot holes and tree root speed bumps. Some of the water was green with slime on it. I left after 9 holes. driving range was limited to irons.
Rough Place
I will give them a little slack due to the amount of rain this spring and summer. Basically nothing is mowed. Rough is 5-6 inches. Green collars are rotted and brown. Fairways are 2-3 inches. Giant 2 inch wasps are burrowing in all the greens including the putting green. But my main complaint is they allowed a family out on the course with a 6 and 4 year old and those kids played, even holed out every putt. The parents should be ashamed to do that to people on a busy Sunday with 300 people on the course(starters comment). We had 6 groups backed up behind them. Complained at the turn. They said they did not know, however, that is a lie because the groups behind us called the shop. Basically they didn’t give a crap. 3 hours 15 minutes for first 9 in 105 heat index. Really a bad experience.
First time playing
Cart was dying the whole day or on the verge of it. Had to get off to get up afew hills as my friend drove the cart. I am roughly 180-190 pounds. Each green and i mean every single one has yellow jacket or hornets nest. One hole was so bad i counted 12 of them on just the green. The areas and the course layout were beautiful with tons of challenges. Unfortunately i will not be returning until the bug issue is resolved
Slow as all get out!
I booked a tee time on GolfNow for 10:32 am. When I got to the first tee there was a foursome with you guessed it. A 10:32 tee time. It went downhill from there. The pace of play at this course is snails pace. I got so frustrated that I quit after playing only nine holes
Great value.
Loved the track. Beautiful looking holes.
Some patches out there but just place the ball, no big deal.
I’ll sure be back.
Don't book through golf now, it's 30 dollars more expensive than the tee time truly is.
It costs 71 dollars and change to book a tee time for ONE person through this app, if you call and book it or book it online through glen oaks website it's 41 dollars plus tax. Why the heck is this app trying to make 30 dollars just for booking through the app?
Glen oaks
Tee boxes mostly dirt, Fairways sparse and cut very tight. I do like layout. Very tight better hit ball somewhat straight. Course knowledge is good. We played with someone who new course and on some holes was very helpful. Just had a poor day.hit ball bad but a nice course and will play again. Greens had been aerated which just made them slow. Overall a good course just need to hit ball better
Hard to play the first time
Course is quirky. A lot of blind shots, heavily sloped fairways. Need to know the course to play well.
