Great course
The course was amazing, Great greens and well maintained fairways.
Farm course! Ugly tees, bare fairways, rutted cart paths. Cheap disappointment.
Played with grandson who thought this was a nice course. He's very wrong. This is not even close to being a normal lush, plush, manicured course...in fact just the opposite. I'm not a fancy golf snob. I never play expensive courses, but Whispering Pines had way too many bare spots or dead spots in the fairways, Wait, not just "spots", they were much bigger than that. The layout is dumb. Many of the holes (half of them?) had blind shots either on the drive or the approach. You never knew where to aim unless you drove 50 yards up the fairway to see where the heck the fairway went or the green was. Too many of the cart paths were completely rutted dirt or crumbling blacktop. Surprisingly the greens were in good condition. The young woman in the clubhouse was very nice and welcoming. The website advertised "brand new carts for the 26 season" but the 2 we got were older gas powered models. One was so slow that we had to switch to another one. Overall, the course is too difficult for beginners and too spotty for everybody else. Avoid.
Thank you for taking the time to come out and play our course we truly do appreciate your commenting.

Challenging but pretty
Nice course loads of challenges, friendly, gos and Bluetooth carts, very nice will play again drove an hr to play here and will do it many more times
Beutiful course
We played this course for the first time in late November. I suppose it is hard to generalize to mid-season conditions but from what we saw if the course is this playable in November it must be great during growing season. Loved the lay-out; challenging but without gimics. It was worth the drive from metro and we're looking forward to playing here mid-season next year.
Superb design and worth the trip!
I live in the Twin Cities, so this was my first time traveling to play this course, and I had a blast! The design was magnificent. I feel like I used every club and shot in my bag, which was a welcome surprise.
The course features include dog-legs, both left and right, numerous risk-reward shots, placement shots, elevation changes, ponds, wetlands, and a great outdoors vibe.
The owner spoke with me, and he genuinely cared about my feedback to identify potential areas for improvement. It was nice to actually talk with an owner who was present, cared, and truly has the best interest of the players in mind.
Great course, I highly recommend it, and will definitely return to play it again!
Good golf
As always we enjoy golfing Whispering Pines. The course conditions are almost perfect every time we golf. Pace of play is great. Carts with GPS are fantastic to know distances.
Hello Daniel, thank you for the Superior Review and we do hope that you make it back to WP this year. Thanks Again Mark
Nice short course
Interesting holes, great value. Course in great shape, fast true greens.
This is a fun, challenging course. Nice elevation changes and great layout.
Mark is a wonderful host. Great equipment, newer carts with gps. He keeps the course in great condition. Clearing leaves and acorns as best as possible as fall arrives. Worth the hour drive, I would play this course every week if I lived closer to it.
Nice shape and great staff !
Course is in very nice shape , well mowed and nice greens !
Impressive ! Staff was very friendly and made us a great pizza after the round at the bar ! Very fun day and round of golf !
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations, though we’re glad to hear you enjoyed our greens and that our clubhouse staff made you feel welcome.
We’d like to provide a little context for other golfers reading your review. Like many courses in our region, we’ve been dealing with an extended period of drought, which has affected fairway conditions despite our continued maintenance efforts. Our team works hard every day to provide the best playing conditions possible under the circumstances.
This season we’ve also made significant investments in improving the golf experience, including over 120,000 square feet of brand-new asphalt cart paths throughout the course. While there are still a few sections scheduled for future improvements, the vast majority of our cart path system has been completely upgraded.
As for the course layout, Whispering Pines was designed by renowned golf course architect Joel Goldstrand. His designs intentionally incorporate elevation changes and strategic shot values that create a fun and memorable round. We understand that style of golf isn’t for everyone, but many golfers enjoy the challenge and unique character it provides. To help players navigate the course, every cart is equipped with a GPS system that clearly shows hole layouts, landing areas, and green locations, making blind shots much easier to manage.
Regarding the golf carts, we apologize if you initially received one that wasn’t performing properly. We’re always happy to exchange equipment when an issue arises, and we’re continuing to roll out our fleet updates throughout the season.
We appreciate your comments and will continue investing in our course and facilities. We hope you’ll consider giving Whispering Pines another opportunity in the future as conditions improve.
