Old Orchard Country Club

About
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Should have been closed sooner
Course is being sold first week of September and is in no shape playable unless you don’t mind losing a ball every shot
Don’t waste your time or $ here
The course is closing imminently. They’ve been saying this for a while but now it’s happening. Fairways are unmoved. Greens are destroyed. Everything is overgrown. The course is unplayable You can’t find your ball on the fairway let alone in the rough. Dont waste your time or money playing here.
Low expectations means a good round
I read some bad reviews, but decided to play anyway. The fairways were the same as the rough, so it was hard to use any woods. The greens were mostly dirt and crabgrass, so I had many extra putting strokes. The course was beautiful, with deer and a couple of foxes. Since I had lower expectations, I enjoyed myself. If you go with low expectations, you can enjoy yourself. It was not crowded- even on a sunny Saturday. Only 8 cars in the parking lot.
Not great
Smallest amount of maintenance would’ve made this a somewhat decent course.
Do not play here
I read the reviews and thought no way it could be this bad. It was cheap so I said why not. I couldn’t make it past hole 1. There’s no fairway, it’s all rough. The tee box was so poor you couldn’t even tee it up high, that’s how tall the grass was. The green had tons of weeds growing through it so you couldn’t putt. I feel bad, the kid working there alone had to be 17 years old and knew how bad it was.
Really rough shape
The fairway was 4in tall grass, and the greens were just dirt and crab grass, ball did not roll anywhere. Even on the tee boxes, my tee barely kept the ball above the grass. About 6 holes in I couldn’t even figure out where our next green was because there was no fairways to follow, wound up walking off after
Don’T Play This Course
The course is in disrepair. It has not been maintained in months. Fairway is like the rough, every hole you need extra time to find your ball even when you hit it in the fairway. Greens are un puttable!!!
The course is in the process of being sold and the owners are doing nothing to maintain the course. DO NOT play this course
Never again
You couldnt pay me to play this course again. Currently in the processing of trying to get a refund through golfnow. The course was unplayable. Couldn't find your ball in the middle of whats supposed to be a fairway but is nothing but weeds and overgrown crabgrass. Greens are non existent. The course is set to be sold at end of summer and we were told there was zero groundskeeping at this point. I've called golfnow to advise them to take this course off their app as its not a golf course, its a landfill.
Awful
This place is pathetic. No carts. Course in shambles. No pull carts. Tees overgrown. Greens spotty and patchy. Restroom sink had no water and one staff person working. Deserve a refund and apologies. Stay away!!!!!!!
Its Cheap for a reason
This course isn’t challenging because of its narrow fairways or tricky greens; it’s challenging because of the conditions they’re in. Balls hit straight into the fairway can easily disappear into overgrown weeds and crabgrass. My advice? Bring practice balls you’re okay with losing. You’ll likely lose a few of yours and find plenty that others left behind.
The bunkers? Hard-packed and filled with weeds—not what you’d expect from a playable hazard.
Greens. Well, let's not call them greens. They are yellow. with uneven surface.
There are two reasons you might consider playing here:
1. You want real practice hitting out of the rough on every single shot.
2. You’ve got nothing better to do and need a way to let out some frustration.
This course may have seen better days, and with the right investment, it could possibly return to its former glory. But for now—even at a bargain—I’d recommend avoiding it.
Absolutely Horrible
I have genuinely never seen a course in this poor conditions. I saw it was $10 so I thought whatever it can’t be that bad. It was that bad. I must’ve lost 10 balls in the middle of the fairway because of how high the grass was. The greens are worse than most courses fairways. Absolutely horrible experience don’t waste your money.
Virtually Unplayable
There is zero upkeep/maintenance happening at this course, and it's a shame because the property is beautiful, layout is good, and there is just so much potential. But if you choose to play this, you will find that there is no point in taking the putter out of the bag as the greens are essentially poorly maintained asymmetrical ellipse-shaped fairways with a hole and pin somewhere on it. Best bet it is to chip your way to the hole -- see if you can dunk one.
The fairways rough are what you would expect from a course with greens as previously described. Things growing out of the fairways, grass in the bunkers, etc.
My understanding is that they are selling the property to make an retirement community, and keep an executive 9-hole. $70 dollars to drive felt criminal when I last played, but if you find a good deal here, and are willing to go in with the lowest of expectations (1 star is too high a rating), have at it.
Don't do it
I got roped in by the low cost, but this place is pretty rough. Nothing is really maintained, it almost looks abandoned. Greens feel like you are putting on a fairway, if the fairway was also missing a ton of grass and super bumpy. Fairways were so long we had trouble locating even our best shots. Not coming back.
