About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

Wear a Helmut
To many young men, hitting balls all over the place. Pace of play was painfully slow and no one monitoring all the people playing. Better places to play!!!
Great value with golf pass
I haven't played this course in probably 10 years. But I got such a great discount with golf pass I decided to give it another shot. The staffing, starters were very friendly and they paired me up with a real nice guy and we got out a little early. The course was in pretty good condition, wasn't crazy about the greens they were a little small with a lot of undulation and the pace of play was a little slow
Very good public course
Other than a few fairways that are pretty tight, this is a very nice course at a fair price. Fairway conditions were really good and greens are fast!
Good Course for the money
It’s in great shape. Course is always packed due to its low cost. Tight course. You will hear a lot of “FORE” on the course. If you have patience then this place is for you
If you have 6 hours and want a dent in your car this is the place for you
Each hole was at least a 15 minute wait and the round took 6 hours. The holes are on top of each other so there's 3 groups on a hole hitting to different greens. I think I head fore about 100 times from people hitting to different fairways. Took forever. Course is in decent shape tho
Waiting
While conditions continue to improve the slow pace of play and lack of course management is evident while entire back nine sat open I as a single was paired with three novice golfers then proceeded to wait on every hole to play. Clearly better management should be implemented to ease,pace of play. No common sense here. Enjoy conditions super is great. Bring a lawn chair.
Cart included… but nope
Booked the time and it said cart was included. Then I drove all the way there for them to tell me it was walking only. Need to do a better job of making sure GolfNow has that you are walking on and not cart included if we can’t use them. Total waste of my day.
A Good Day
Bunkers weren't well kept but overall, the course played well.
Great course
Been playing it for years, it’s in decent condition. Pace of play should absolutely improve though.
