Golfer Reviews
First Timer!
Talk about up hill both ways! Lots of hills and side hills. Very nice course. Cicadas attacked a few greens. Nice place to play. Clubhouse for lunch is great too.
A unique course
It’s challenging but not in a way that is fun or interesting. Just a ton of dog legs including all par 5s being a 200 or less yard bend off the tee. It is beautiful out there however and it was nice to play a round and get lost in the nature. The staff is very friendly too.
Don’t ever play here
Let me first start by saying the staff was phenomenal and the food was great. The golf course itself is a joke. Absolutely terrible layout to from start to finish. A lot of blind shots, with no gps in the carts, and very tight. Makes pace of play terrible. Not a difficult kind of tight, just an area where they tried fitting a golf course and shouldn’t have. A 9 hole course on that land would probably be great. The condition itself wasn’t great but wasn’t bad. Can’t blame the maintenance staff for the problems they have there. Seems like a money and land issue with no cart paths just rocks everywhere. I have played thousands of golf courses, including some bad ones, and have never walked away from one wanting to write a review. Keep the staff and the food, make it a more enjoyable 9 hole course.
Wouldn’t play again
This is the 2nd time I’ve played here and although it’s been a few years, my previous experience was confirmed…the starter / staff is just not that friendly to golfnow players - we were told several several times that we needed to adhere to the rules, no food / drinks, pace of play, etiquette, etc. which is fine, but was was all based on the fact that we booked through golfnow, so “no offense, but you should understand your not paying the price as you should” sorry, but the course is offering this and it’s really not that well kept to be posturing like that. tee boxes, fairways and greens all showed signs of wear and abuse and no food / drinks allowed, but no beverage cart on course and when one of our group tried to order a simple hot dog at the turn, he wasn’t able to get it - so we just moved on. The course is narrow and challenging, with small complex greens, and some very interesting holes, just know what you’re in for when you book through GN
Interesting
Tight, bunch of doglegs, fast greens with lots of slope, so definitely a challenge. Also, very hilly. But not impossible, as some have said. Just makes you think a bit more on each shot. It helped we were paired with a regular. Not long, was in good shape, and not crowded. We enjoyed, and will be back.
1st hole starter ruined my day
The weather was fantastic, and I had planned an enjoyable round with my wife, something we hadn't done in a long time but the rudeness of the starter at the first hole left me in a foul mood for the entire 18 holes.
He is an real axxhole
Great shape for mid summer
Considering the heat of the mid-summer and not a lot of rain recently, the course was in great shape. Polished greens and fairways.
Not worth the money
Not even remotely worth the money. To say the driving range is poor is putting it nicely. You are only allowed to hit irons. The starter is less than pleasant. He told me there are no breakfast balls allowed off the first tee (which is the first time I have heard that after playing golf for 20+ years across 100+ courses). The course layout sucks. The course conditions are not good for the price.
Grossly disrespectful staff/starter
Lame golf course. Short, weird layout, ok conditions. Starter is abusive to customers. Go elsewhere.
100% agree with you.
This starter is the worst I ever met.
Play at your own risk to sanity.
I had a wonderful interaction with the staff. Polite and cordial.
The course was in pretty good shape and very challenging. The greens though are brutal and almost makes you want to quit the game. LOL. I mean you hit the ball a yard or two from the edges and your ball rolls off and leaves you a more challenging chip shot. Had some holes you have a foot or too much pace on the putt and the ball is off the green. I am sure that the pin placements are not always in such tough spots, but I think I was playing in a superintendent revenge tournament.. You have to bring your best game because the fairways and tee shots are quite narrow on most holes.
I do recommend you try this place out and test your skills.
This review is spot on perfect!! Other than the food, which I did not have, the review for the golf course is basically word for word what I would have written. This was the worst (most insane) layout I have ever seen, and I have played 300+ courses in NY & NJ.
