Not Worth the Price
This course is not worth the price. Better options elsewhere. No resident discount either.
no rain check
Had to play through in a thunderstorm after paying 70 for the course fee and 22 each for the cart. Definitely expensive for public courses in NY/NJ. Tee boxes were in disrepair/ had uneven lies.
Course quality was overall nice but no rain check policy and a "golf at your own risk" policy combo was frankly greedy. Waited out the storm but the quality of play was horrendous for the price. Course the only alternative was "go home" so we played on.
The court has been completely overhauled. The sand traps have been reduce in size and some illuminated. It plays like a different course now.
Great shape for mid-July
The greens at La Tourette are in very good shape. They rolled well, and were not slow, even though they weren't cut too short. The fairways have been narrowed in since I played there years ago. With ample rough, there was a premium for hitting the fairways. The only slight negative would be the condition of the tees. They need to be leveled off to offer better areas to hit from. Burgers and beer after the round were perfect.
Way fast, bad booking sites
Looking to go out with 3 friends. I stop at the course and I am told tha t there are multiple tee times available in my range, BUT I CAN ONLY BOOK ONLINE.
Get on line through the first booking website and find NO TEE TIMES FOR THE DAY.
DECIDE TO TRY GOLFPASS AND FIND THERE ARE MULTIPLE TEE TIMES AVAILABLE.
Course is in good shape and greens are fast. My buddy and I completed 18 in 3:55 min. Great day
Incompetence
Been playing latourette for 30+ years as a SI resident. The incompetence, greed and lack of respect to golfers by the people who run these public courses is appalling. Love this course and all SI courses, but it is such a disservice what is done for $$$. Played at 536 AM to get a quick round in before the sunday chaos. Need off 540, played front in crisp hour 50 mins never being held up. Found ball hit ball. Tees clear, greens clear. Made the turn to 10 and there was a group on green, in fairway and on tee box. Complete joke. Too 2.5 hours to play back and completely ruined the day. The fact that they need to send groupd out on the back when ones from front still making turn is terrible!!! JOKE
I enjoy playing this course for many reasons, although not the most challenging, it's a great course to improve my 14 handicap. Greens are well maintained, with good friendly staff. Place has a great practice range with separate chip and putting practice area. Nice club house, good pit stop for a quick bit and drink. The only things I would say needs a little improvemente is maybe a better layout of the pro shop merchandise for better selection, and the car paths definitely need some patching.

Pace of play is awful. I mean awful. Try and get every possible penny out of as many people as possible with no rangers to push people along. Better off going to Jersey for a much better experience
Course
The course is in excellent shape. The greens are a bit slow. But in excellent condition. Layout of course is good. Staff is friendly. My only complain is that they charge extra for the cart. You already pay alot to play . They stopped the players club. Which is too bad. I use to play there 3 days aweek when they had it. Now I don't play there anymore. I play in Jersey which is cheaper and includes a cart.
Rough
Rough is way to high we are not professional I ran a ball over the green to land in 6 inches of rough crazy
Slow but good layout.
Hilly but walkable. Fun layout. Pretty open. Nestled into nature.
Greens better than average for the price. Putts still wobble a bit as they slow down. Holes seemed like they were not cut correctly leading to many lip outs and not enough space between ball and flagstick to receive a golf ball (would often come to rest leaning into hole against the stick).
Bunkers could use some work but there aren’t a ton of them. Had a range which is unique in NYC.
Pace of play is slow especially in afternoon.
Great staff. Food was decent.
Classic design
Firstly staff was awesome. Small mixup ( by me) booking. Resolved by these folks perfectly
Secondly despite being heavily played track was in really good condition
Pace was excellent
Overall very good experience
Lots of support for local high school golfers.
