South Shore Golf Course

Arrived early there was no weight teed off on time the course was in great shape played a round of eighteen holes on Staten Island in under four hours. Would definitely go back.

Still in terrible condition.

Some Greens are still closed! Over a year now

There is No need to charge full price for a round !

But they still do 🤷🏽‍♂️

Just picked up my new irons TM Qi max first time hitting them on course. They felt great. I shot a 87 first time hitting in the 80’s this was my goal with my fitting and new clubs only used the irons havnt picked up my 4 wood or wedges yet so excited to see what this season brings.

I played this course yesterday and it took 5 and a half hours to complete. The course did nothing to increase the pace of play. There are STILL two incomplete holes with the green in the middle of the fairway. To boot, after 9 holes I went in for a snack and the register apparently was down and then wouldn’t sell anyone anything. I only play here when it’s a last option for me.

Haven’t golfed since October cause I had Triggerfinger surgery in February. First time swinging a club in six months.

Greens are in very good condition except they were running very slow. Looks like they haven’t cut them recently. The temporary greens on 12 and 14 are a joke especially 14, there’s literally no grass near the hole. it’s stones and dirt. The grass was very high on the temporary green on 12. Fairways are cut lower.

The fairways are in very good condition much better than ever I could remember in the last several years.

there’s no water on the course. I always bring my own water so that’s not an issue for me. just an observation. There was a cart girl driving around

Well it seems that they’re trying to improve the course and the greens weren’t horrible. Still needs a lot of work card pets fairways tea boxes. They’re making an effort with three temporary greens which we appreciate. I still feel that they can do a little better.

The course is convenient, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. As a NYC Municipal course though it lacks the upgrades necessary to be on the level of a similar course called, la Tourette. The cart paths are covered with potholes so driving on the fairway is almost necessary, and they are currently using temporary greens on three of the back nine holes…a fact that doesn’t bother me because I understand the need to allow the greens to grow but to charge full price of about 70 dollars on the weekend without giving some discount is really a bit insulting especially since you don’t see that notice online but find out about them when you arrive at the course…the new brick and concrete work being done at the front gate is nice and probably associated with the catering business that uses the facility but some funds could have been invested to redo the cart paths.

The course has three tee boxes that are under repair. To have traps on them and the other one has crab grass all over it too much money that you can’t play three tee boxes. Too many people scheduled to close together. They were young boys six with four carts the range just spoke to them nothing happened. The group of boys did not show up until the back nine and jumped in front of us. The Rangers answers all the young boys. Not at that top dollar I would never recommend this cost to anyone just go over the outer bridge and much nicer causes and cheaper.

How do you have 3/18 holes that are unplayable??? That’s 1/6 of the holes! And it’s not new either. At least 2 years!

Fairways and greens had nothing wrong with them. What would've made this a 10/10 round was the temp greens and the tee boxes. I will give the benefit of the doubt to the tee boxes, and it's just starting to get nice out, but having temp greens on the best par three and par five of the course was completely unacceptable. Those 2 holes have had temp greens since last summer. They didn't even try to make the temp greens puttable, and I just had to give myself a par to keep my score. Everything else was fair.

John (General Manager) was extremely accommodating and ensure that our outing was enjoyable. The pace of play was steady and would recommend South Shore to anyone looking for a great day of golf.

Course Needs to have fencing around property so that outsiders can't come in, along with cameras. Last 3 years temporary holes are Absolutely ridiculous. 3 star is the correct rating.

Take the two temporary greens out of the equation and youre playing a great golf course.

This is a pretty easy and open course. Just like every NYC course it’s slow on saturdays as usual. The greens were looking good.

Other than 3 holes with greens that you cannot putt on the course is in good shape.
