Silver Lake Golf Course
About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Dangerous
First time playing the course this year… played it one time a year ago.
Either I didn’t remember or the cart paths have deteriorated significantly.
Simply awful.
Be careful when driving the cart . Very careful.
It’s June but with so many leaves it’s like fall golf. Makes it difficult to find the ball, even in the fairway.
Extremely difficult in the rough, which is unforgiving
With those few negatives, it is still a course I would recommend
Management
Decent public course. Decently kept. Pro Shop often not open on weekdays.
They do an unbelievably poor job managing the pace of play when the school kids hold practice. Many rounds have been spent backed up behind 3 groups.
Twice I’ve showed up early for my tee time and been unable to start on time because they “have a school bus full of kids coming”. It is extremely frustrating.
The otherwise kind staff is extremely rude in these situations.
They have a chipping green which is nice to kill the time you spend waiting to play. Not all bad.
Fair course
Green fast when I played, fair everything else definitely best course on island
Downfall of the Lake
Course conditions were fair at best, aerated greens with too much sand, I could drive with less potholes in Beirut than the cart paths which seems to get worse each passing year Hiw about some effort into the putting green and how about trying to figure out some kind of a hitting net area for warm up On a positive note, the carts were very nice To charge full value for this course in its current condition is ridiculous, it’s convenient for me but not much else, cross the tiver to NJ for much better value
Working Man’s Country Club!
The Lake never disappoints! The best public course in the 5 Boro’s!
Pretty fun course
Fun course, tight fairways, some decent greens but looks like they were recently punched which is fine. Lots of hills, I walked it but had a light bag so it wasn’t too bad. Overall good time.
If you love playing golf for 8 hours this place is for you. The staff and rangers are pathetic. No one adheres to t times. I showed up for an 836 t time at 745. People with 9 am and later were already lined up in front of me. Pace of play is 5 hours minimum. I’ve even seen groups of 5 playing. For the price of this course it’s actually pathetic and it’s run horribly. You can’t enjoy a 4 hour round here because it’s impossible. I’d rather drive to Jersey where pace of play and a t time actually means something.
