The grass was a little too deep too many balls went missing that should easily have been found that went off the Fairway

After years of reading mixed reviews, I finally decided to make the hour-long drive to play the course, and I’m glad I did.

The greens were in fantastic condition, rolling around 10.5 on the Stimpmeter and, more importantly, rolling very true. Sure, most of the white teeing areas were pretty beat up, but the blue tees were generally in good shape.

The layout is pretty good, too, with nice elevation changes, some elevated greens, well-positioned bunkers, and a few that appear to have been recently renovated. The rough was challenging, and the fairways were maintained at a slightly higher mowing height than I typically prefer.

Overall, the course exceeded my expectations, especially considering some of the reviews I had read over the years. I’m glad I finally gave it a chance and will definitely be back!

Great shape for fall. White tee boxes are pretty sparse from overuse and a Ranger is needed for slow play.

they are charging $24 for cart, even that cart are old model and I am a senior

I’m not sure how you can miss manage a tee shot so badly that my 8:54am tee time doesn’t tee off until 9:25. What a mess. I’m used to playing a 5 hour round. But I didn’t finish the first 9 until 12:10. At which point I asked to be refunded my back nine. I was told no. What a mess.

Great course. Long holes, good par 3s, greens are well maintained. Tee boxes could use some work.

Keep it in the shirt grass as the rough is on steroids

I live a mile from here but rarely play it lately. It I was surprised that it was in really good shape aside from a few tee boxes that really needed some work. What hasn’t changed in the 20 years I’ve been playing here is getting stuck behind a group of drunk and high young kids at 7am. They were late to the 1st tee which pushed back my time 10-15 minutes. Then they took FOREVER on greens and tee boxes. What should have been a 4hr round max, become 5:15.

Having grown up in Staten Island near this course, I played it more than a few times in my youth. In the past 50 years, although I have moved away and now retired I still had fond memories of La Tourette. It was with that in mind that I proposed to a friend to drive down from Northern New Jersey to play the course I remembered.

The day turned out wonderfully and my friend even expressed an interest in returning with some of our buddies.

The course was in good condition, well manicured with generous fairways to keep the pace of play moving. Greens were well groomed with good pace for a muni course. Sand traps were a bit stiff with a clay colored consistency and some tee boxes were a bit rough.

All in all, it was a nice trip down memory lane and I can highly recommend this course if you are in the area.
