Power Rankings: Most reviewed golf courses and top reviewers in 2015

Before we kick off our regular Power Rankings in 2016, we thought we'd look back at the most active golf courses and reviewers in 2015. We received more than 120,000 reviews in 2015, and in a few weeks, we'll reveal the top 50 U.S. golf courses, as well as rankings in other categories, countries and in particular states.

The most reviewed course in 2015 was in fact a brand new course. Championsgate Country Club, located south of Orlando, Fla. opened its doors last winter, and central Florida golfers have flocked to see the area's newest course (and a course that is scheduled to eventually go private as its residential community matures). Many reviewers have left with a very positive first impression despite the fact that the overall experience is still very much a work in progress with infrastructure and a clubhouse gradually coming online, which hurt the overall conditions and food-and-beverage rating. But Championsgate C.C.'s "value" and "course conditions" have been near perfect, and the course has been a regular in our weekly Power Rankings.

We've also uncovered our most active reviewers of the year, many of whom will become Local Golf Advisors when we formally launch the program this year. If you have a Golf Advisor account and haven't yet applied, you can do so here.

I must be getting soft at my old age as I rated 19 courses five stars in 2015. That ballooning number is probably a product of where I played: two five-star resorts, several exclusive private clubs, and some of the best links in Scotland and Ireland.

It's possible this little ditty finds you scooping up the last bit of cranberry pie crumbs out of the tray. Thanksgiving may have passed but the effects of celebratory eating around the table, and also possibly social imbibing during all the various football games throughout the weekend, are sticking with us. To our bellies and elsewhere.
