Ginella's five golf courses to play in and near Denver

Travel expert Matt Ginella spent some time in Denver this summer, visiting many of the area's golf courses and off-course attractions.

He played not only historic Cherry Hills, where Arnold Palmer won the 1960 U.S. Open, but also toured many of the area's great golf courses open to the public. On Morning Drive, he shared his top five golf courses you can play in and around Denver and down to Colorado Springs with host Gary Williams. You can view the full segment in the video above.

5. The Ridge at Castle Pines Golf Club: A top-shelf public option just around the corner from the famous and private Country Club at Castle Pines.

4. The Dunes at Riverdale Dunes: Built in the 1980s by Pete and Perry Dye, this is the more distinctive of two 18-hole courses at Riverdale.

3. Arrowhead Golf Club: A Robert Trent Jones Sr. design set among spectacular red rocks in the Rocky Mountain foothills just south of Denver.

2. Commonground Golf Club: Free caddies and great value at $52, the course was designed by Tom Doak and Jim Urbina and has been revived after flood damage in 2013.

1. East Course at Broadmoor Resort & Golf Club: A historic, posh resort in nearby Colorado Springs (75 minutes south of Denver), the East Course is a combination of holes designed Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones Sr. at separate times.

A few errors in reporting most glaring being in Ridge writeup - the famous and exclusive club is "The Golf Club at Castle Pines". Also Arrowhead design is a collaboration between RT Jones Sr and Jr

Commonground at #2????? Wow. I could list at least 10 better courses at lower prices. Unbelievable you have ridge at castle pines at 5 an CG at 2. HILARIOUS.
