Reviews
Interesting
First of all they are proud of this course. The gentleman in the clubhouse leaves something to be desired. First of all I purchased a group golfer voucher and called 5 days ahead of time to book and he informed me I couldn't use before 12 and nowhere on the voucher did it state this. He told me THEY WERE A COUNTRY CLUB for some reason so I booked for twelve and hoped for the best. Arrived 1115 and were not offered the free range balls included and asked if we could go ahead as noone was on first tee. He stated no that our tee time was 1212 after being told 12 on phone. We proceeded to putting green just behind first tee and only one twosome of walkers teed off between 1115 and 1145 then right before 12 about 1155 another twosome of walkers teed off so we fell behind them as our teetime was 1212. Just as we were about to pull up to tee a foursome comes out of the woodworks and states they have the 12 tee time. Okay first of all a so called country club doesn't allow walkers especially twosomes on Sunday mornings. Second no starter in sight and just not well run. Course nice though with good layout and good conditions. Greens were fast but borderline hard. Definitely not worth the 60 rack rate and definitely not very well run or friendly.
Great layout
10/10 would recommend. Fast greens. Challenging hole locations. Only con was there isn’t really any rough.
Diamond in the Rough
First off, GN doesn’t update their tee sheet with the course. During the winter the first tee time is 0830 but GN let me book a 0800 tee time. GN also doesn’t update the price for winter rates so when I got there, instead of paying $42 which is what GN price was I paid $36. The club house gave me some free range balls for the confusion on GN part. He said that GN even will double book tee times for this course so be careful. I would suggest called first.
The course itself was a beaut! The greens were fast and breaking hard! Fairways were a little wet but it’s winter and expected! Overall great course! This Texan will be back!
Hidden Gem
Deep Springs is truly one of the finest golf courses in the Greensboro NC area. The design is challenging with impeccable greens that are undulating with a speed that will test your nerves. Just a great course at a price well worth its weight in gold. Can’t wait to tee it up there again.
Really fun course, really rude pro shop
I will start with the good...
I really like this course. It is in great shape and the greens are some of the best in the area. It is a really fun layout with a variety of holes.
The bad...
I purchased a GroupGolfer for Deep Springs a while back and was really looking forward to getting up there to play. There were no time restrictions on the voucher as to when it could be used. I called on a Sunday to make a tee time for the following Sunday. I asked the guy what the earliest time they had available and he told me 10:33am. I booked that time for a foursome and life was good. I got to the course in plenty of time and when I checked in the gentleman in the pro shop told me I could not use the voucher until after 12. I said there are no time restrictions on the voucher. He told me there should be because they are a private club (They are not.) and morning times are reserved for members. After some more back and forth he agreed to honor the voucher THIS ONE time. As I was leaving the pro shop I heard him saying that GroupGolfer is ruining golf because it is essentially giving it away. I paid $25 for the voucher and walked. The walking rate when we teed off was $29. This gentleman then gave the same treatment to another player in our group for using the voucher. Don't put your course on GroupGolfer if you don't want people to use them.
Excellent course
Great course, nice layout, great pace. Greens crew could have let us play through on a few holes and come back to do work.
Despicable Customer Service
Unfortunately, I cannot offer a review of the actual course and here is why. A friend and I booked tee times through GolfNow. Made the 1 hour drive to Deep Springs and were welcomed by the most amazing, nicest golf cart attendants. Great start, but all the fun ended there. We proceeded to the club house and were quickly told they had no tee times. We told them we had booked a tee time on golf now. Long story short, the guy could care less. He was rude, non helpful and had no interest or care to even look at our confirmation. His only assistance was to offer for us to look at his computer to show us there were no tee times. We have no idea what happened (might have been a GolfNow glitch), but the guy had no sympathy, never apologized for the mistake, did not offer to help in any way. We won't be going back!
Great Greens!
Best Greens of any course in the area this year. Definitely go back again
An Ellis Maples Beauty
This course is a Maples classic. Some very scenic holes standing on the tee box. Has it all: straight away holes, doglegs, bunkers worth of a PGA course. Greens are now a hybrid Bermuda and they are well maintained (do not look for extremely slow speeds on these greens). It is truly a hidden gem for me.
Nice Track
I had heard from several people this was a great course. They were right. The course was in fantastic shape. The best greens I have played in years. They were flawless and true. It was worth the drive to play. Hole 18 is as good of a finishing hole as there is in the state. I never write reviews but I felt the course deserved it. You owe it to your self to make the drive. Trust me you will not regard!
This course is a must play
Deep Springs is a challenging course but would be enjoyed by anyone. The greens were updated a few years back to a hybrid grass and usually play very fast. The scenery around the course also adds to the experience. I highly recommend that you play it given the chance.
Hidden gem
Beautiful course. Challenging but a joy to play for the value.
Great time
Beautiful course, well maintained. Fast greens. Staff very courteous and friendly. Will definitely play this course again.
Bad Information
When we arrived, the owners were not there and the front nine was closed. We had to play the back side twice. The owners told us that they told golfnow.com that the front nine was closed. I didn’t appreciate going to this course and having to play one side. However, The back side was immaculately. I would appreciate if you guys would give me 4 more rounds for the mess up.
Lovely layout
One of the best courses in the triad. It’s a great test with strategic bunkering, fast greens and tree lined fairways. If I was to be critical, the sand was of different textures. But ultimately they are hazards. The staff were amazing. They even gave us a free bag of new range balls. I got a deal for 18 dollars online and it was the best 18 I’ve spent!
Great course hard greens
Beautiful and scenic golf course
