lots of elevation change
The greens were excellent, with some attention the tee's & fairways could be above average. Because of all the rain it was cart path only, can make it a long day on this course.
Nice Layout
The course is nicely maintained, nice doglegs greens in good shape. The course has some challenging holes, make sure you are in the fairway, the rough can be nasty. There was a cart girl and the prices for beer was very fair. Some very nice views from some of the holes. Overall the course was great. Although the tee boxes were a bit rough, Could also use more visibility from course rangers to keep the round going on a timely manner.
great course
Great course. Staff was grest too. I would play this course agai .
Worst course in NJ
Played this course last year (my first mistake). Decided to give it another try this year (my second and last mistake). My journey all started with incompetent staff that didn't know how to work the register (got double charged for a golf towel). The pace of play was incredibly slow due to poor pricing structure. The rates drop significantly at 2pm so there are 0 golfers from 8 am - 2pm and then 100 sorry golfers from 2pm-4pm. The course layout is very poor as it is quite evident they were short on land. Course conditions were worst I've ever seen. Bunkers were rock hard dirt traps (deemed them to be unplayable). Greens are tiny, hard, choppy, and very slow. From the staff, to the food, to the course and to the rates, this is the perfect recipe for a miserable golfing experience.
Good course design; tee box grass and sand in the bunkers are currently in bad shape, with greens still recovering from aeration.
This was the first time I played Beaver Brook. The course is somewhat tight but not unfairly so. This means driving accuracy counts. I liked the hole layouts and variations. There are many elevation changes that make things interesting.
The tee boxes currently have many bare areas. Compared to other public courses in this area I currently am playing, the tee areas are in poor shape.
The greens are continuing to recover from aeration and sanding. I hope another month and they'll be fine.
Overall, it's a fair value and a good, reasonably challenging course. I'll come back.
Nice views on course
Still very early in the season. I found it difficult to putt as the greens were dressed, and very fast. I am confident that it will be in great shape once the warmer weather settles in and as long as we get enough rain.
This course is great until you get to the greens.
The course is great, i mean i would recommend it to anyone who justs wants to play for the sake of playing. I was dissapointed when it came to putting, the greens were punched therefore no real putting occured, besides the greens everything else was great.
lots of hills, challenging
Surprising challenges in the form of water and well-placed bunkers.
Beautiful but crowed
I 'be played twice here. One time last year with heavy rain, and this time yesterday in heavy fogy day.
Very nice course. Course in good condition.
Worth drive out there to play. Very well-maintained course.
Fix the traps
All in, a positive experience. Only notable downside was the near absence of sand in the traps.
Challenging course but nicely maintained with friendly staff.
Beaver Brook continues to be one of our favorites. It is a challenging course but always well maintained and the staff is very helpful and friendly. In the fall, the views are spectacular!
Cant wait to return
I'm looking forward to returning here to see what the course looks like in the spring and summer. I was stunned to see it was in such great condition when I played it. It was a cold day and with some snow having already fallen, I thought the course wouldn't be in great shape. Big greens and open fairways make this a really great place to work on your game. I was playing as well as I had all year when it just got too cold to finish. Will undoubtedly return next year and play this course in warmer weather. Highly recommended.
Very nice course friendly staff
We had a great day because of the results of the hurricane lack of power gas and cold weather few golfers were playing so we finished in 3hrs 15 min course didn't have much damage
Beautiful and Challenging - Especially in the Fall
The tee boxes were being worked on but the course was still in great shape. Very beautiful with colorful leaves but full of trees - meaning a bit tight on some holes.
The only thing that made the day somewhat less enjoyable than it otherwise might have been is putting on the greens. I have no problems with fast greens as long as they're true and fair. Some of the pin locations were challenging but on top of that, I had one putt that after being left short, rolled backwards - off the green. That to me is a bit unfair and extreme!
Nice course, good condition, no ranger to help speed play
I play this course at least once a year. It's about a 40 min. drive and worth the trip. Nice views, and good maintenance. The pace of play is slow and a ranger to help speed up play would be an improvement.
