Big Met Golf Course
About
Big Met Golf Course boasts the title of being Ohio's most-played golf course. Since opening in 1926, it has hosted an impressive 6,000,000 rounds of golf. The course is nestled into the Rock River Valley along gently rolling hills. One of the course's defining features is the dike that helps to hold back the Rocky River, which can be viewed from several holes. Although the golf course as it exists now differs dramatically from the original layout thanks to numerous improvements over the years, including lengthening and remodeling the seventh and eighth holes, it has retained the same playability that has earned its reputation. Big Met Golf Course is not overly challenging but there are a few strategically placed bunkers and tricky rough areas, as well as a moderate amount of length.

After father's day
Thought that golfers were usually very easy to get along with, my experience has changed..... However the course and the staff were awesome. Golfing at Big Met isslakways a great time.
Soggy Day
I had fun playing on a day when there had been rain in the morning. Few people were on the course when I arrived. The course appears to have a great drainage system because it didn't seem to be overwhelmed by the rains from that morning. I had a lot of fun playing here, and the found the staff very welcoming.
Make Sure You Have a Foursome
Big Met is notorious for slow play, but taking 4:20 on a holiday is not that terrible. It would have been better if we had 4, but we had 2 and had to wait on nearly every shot. The conditions were above average with nice fairways and greens. Although I have numerous questions about this course set up. The fairways are very narrow, the rough is longer than other public courses in the area, and there were several mickey mouse pin placements. For a course that routinely struggles with pace of play all of these decisions seems counter intuitive to the enjoyment of the course. Narrow fairways and longer rough mean shorter drives and more time spent looking for balls. Tight pins mean less greens hit and more putts. Maybe they are setting up for the Metroparks championships, maybe they get sooo much play no matter what, they don't care. I live 5 minutes away and don't play here very often for these reasons. It is better suited to 9 holes after work during the week than an 18 hole slog on weekends. This course is rated as an ego builder, let it be that instead of pushing it to the limits. Very easy to walk, and pretty in the fall though.
Straightforward and fun
Played with another single player and we were able to really move around the course quickly. Most of the course was in good shape, some of the rough was long enough to lose a ball but otherwise, it was great.
Big Met
A very fun course. We got a great rate through Tee Off. The greens putt true but the rough is truly rough.
Simple course with a few challenges
Nice course for the price. Round was very quick mostly because the weather wasn't ideal. Course is in good condition.
Great public course
Course was in great shape and not too crowded. Staff friendly and accommodating.
The course very good after all the rains
I play three or four times a year big met all in good shape. On weekend the piece lil bids high for metro course, but no golf now hot deals is very good for book a tee time. Thank you GolfNow....
Nice course
We played on a Monday afternoon so the course was wide open.
Nice layout, well manicured.
$12 for 18 holes for a hot deal.... can't beat it!
Service in clubhouse was sub par but other than that, will definitely return.
Slow!!!!!!!!
Love this course as far as the layout and the condition. The only problem is, it's a metroparks course where every beginner in the city goes. The pace of play is pathetic on the weekends, it will take a foursome 5-6 hrs to play 18 on a weekend.
Give it a couple weeks
Course was in good shape, except the greens we just aerated, which Golf Now did warn me about,,, I'd wait a couple weeks for them to grow back in before I go there again... I know it has to be done but putting was ridiculous.. Also this is the second time I've played there where the fairway mowers have set down the yardage stakes,, and then not put them back up,, they don't do much good laying over in the rough. Other wise it was still a fun round,, great course all in all.
New Favorite Course in Cleveland!
I played Big Met for the first time yesterday, and I must say I was very pleased. Pace of play was a little slow to start out but this is because I was by myself and got behind a foursome, thankfully they let me play through and I zipped right through the course. Each hole was very well maintained, especially the greens. Not overly challenging but fun to play nonetheless. I most certainly will be bringing my golfing buddies back to play here soon, especially since I only got to play to back nine.
Good course conditions but very slow pace of play
Staff was very friendly. Well worth the 50+ mile drive.
Best course!
Absolutely the best course in the area.
Visiting from Florida and had s great time.p
Great condition
Course was in great shape considering lack of water in northeast Oh. Only negative was it was cart path only, and some groups were still riding wherever they wanted. I think they should of been kicked off course immediately! Rangers were never in right spots to catch em. I didn't see ranger the whole back 9.
Magnificent Muni
My tee time was at 7am, and after some rain the night before, it was a bit of a swampy start. By about the fourth or fifth hole, the sun was bright and things dried out, making conditions perfect. And with no one ahead of me, I did 18 in 3 hours.
The greens and fairways were in great shape, with greens speeding up considerably as the temps rose.
Nice layout. Tip: on 7, keep tee shot to the right, or a tree will block a second shot, forcing a layup.
Also, staff was great. When I returned my cart, the ranger thanked me, by name.
I recommend it. But, having played it before, it is a popular course, so it usually tends to play slow.
staff
After I pay for my round of golf. The starter did not let me play golf. The starter clam I did not have a tee time. I show that starter my recite from the cashier and golfnow.com. So the starter look at the recite and still wont let me play my round of golf. After that i went to the cashier and told me what happen, the cashier game me a refund and I left> So i wont be going to this course because of the starter.
Great First Experience
Went with a friend from college. A great experience very fun, great pace of play, very scenic and overall beautiful layout. I'd recommend this course to any golfer.
Great Day on the links
We were greated in a friendly manner
Had a great cheeseburger
Then thoroughly enjoyed our round
Hard to believe rangers at big met doing anything, I call the clubhouse to send out a ranger for slow play .They say they'll send one out right away but they never showed, Several holes later there's a ranger hawking balls in the woods. Metro parks needs to give up on promoting " It's about time.
Nothing but a joke
