Big Met Golf Course
About
Big Met Golf Course boasts the title of being Ohio's most-played golf course. Since opening in 1926, it has hosted an impressive 6,000,000 rounds of golf. The course is nestled into the Rock River Valley along gently rolling hills. One of the course's defining features is the dike that helps to hold back the Rocky River, which can be viewed from several holes. Although the golf course as it exists now differs dramatically from the original layout thanks to numerous improvements over the years, including lengthening and remodeling the seventh and eighth holes, it has retained the same playability that has earned its reputation. Big Met Golf Course is not overly challenging but there are a few strategically placed bunkers and tricky rough areas, as well as a moderate amount of length.

Good for springtime golf and a weekend.
Playing golf in Northeast Ohio during the spring often means playing mushy fairways and slow greens. Not the case at Big Met. Although the ground was soft, the course was in fairly decent condition. Play is typically slow on a Sunday afternoon at Big Met, so there was no surprise there. Great course for the money, thanks to GolfNow.com. Big Met will challenge you, particularly hole #7 and the entire back 9.
Big Met
Early season golf at big met and course is in great condition already! Cant wait till everything completely drys and balls roll down the fairway!
spring golf
First time out for me this year. We were surprised how good course conditions were. Course was in Very Good shape and greens were smooth and quick.
Cant beat the value
Got it as a Hot Deal for just 12 bucks on a cold, fall Sunday. Rain held off but lost a ton of balls. It is to be expected with a lot of leaves on the course. Great day with the weather and can't complain about the price.
course review, Nice course
great value for a late fall day, nice weather course was in great condition for a late october day. Thanks
Good old Big Met
The fairways are far more narrow than previous years. The treeline is the same of course, but the rough on each side of every fairway has moving in a few paces. The quality of the greens has improved. The golfers could help out by fixing their ball marks.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Very nice course that demands good driving of the golf ball.
Course was in good shape. Greens were aerated a couple of weeks ago and are coming back, still a little inconsistent. I have played this course a few times and always get challenged and enjoy the layout. We also had a Hot Deal booking with Golfnow.
Nice layout, very playable
my friends and myself like the course very much. It is is very playable with a moderate degree of difficulty. I would recommend the course to anyone desiring a nice pleasant day of golf.
Very good course very slow pace
We had Twosome for 18. The course was in good condition although some fairways were very hard.
Back nine we paired up with a park ranger who had no golf etiquitte. Played two to three balls and then went looking for them after we hit. Putted out of turn even when not everyone was on the green Teed off out of turn. Ranger Tony needs to learn how to play the game of golf before just going out and playing.
Twilight Golf Review
I normally avoid Big Met like the plague because of the golfers that play here, even though I live in Lakewood. It is always crowded with casual players that don't mind classic rules of ready golf, or minding their pace of play, I lot of "good time", "beer a hole" types. But because of rain during the day and rain in the forecast, I took a chance and played for the $10 twilight rate. I jumped around skipping a couple of holes to avoid the groups ahead of me since I was a single. The course was in pretty good shape, greens were slow and fairways were cut short. But it was a good time if you get lucky.
I wish it played a little faster for those of us who don't like 5 hour rounds.
Always great!
A great day at the course, beautiful weather, a lush green course, good friends, wish I could have shot better, in all an excellent time.
Nice Metro Park Course !!!!!
Third time playing this course. Course was in excellent condition. Staff was very friendly as usual. Has a nice clubhouse with a lot of golf items, and the food is good. Pace of play was slow this day and boy was it hot & humid. Had a cart guy going around giving people water. Has some tough holes and the greens are somewhat difficult as well. Give this course a great rating due to conditions and staff friendliness. Will come back and play again !!!
This sourse was fun to play the weather was excellent and I shoot my best round of the year
I booked a tee time of 11.37 AM for 21.00 ea 18 holes w cart My only negative thing about Big Met was the starter he won't let me play a head of a two some he said that they booked there time ahead of me the starter wasn't the a friendly guy at all then after playing the front 9 which took me 2 1/2 hours to play 9 holes the pace was very slow waiting to tee of at every hole after I finish the front 9 I asked the starter to keep my spot because I had to you the restroom when I got back the foursome jumped ahead of me after the started said he doesn't let people cut in front of them so now I am behind a group of four waiting again at each and every hole I finally finished up at 6:30 PM Still all in all it was a fun day golfing for the first time at Big Met by the way I shoot a 78 again best round ever for me I will come back to play this course again and this time I will bring enough for a foursome Thank you again for the staff at Big Met everybody was very friendly and caring including the starter This course has a nice layout and they do have some tough holes like Hole #13 dog leg left I did manage to get a par on the hole water was to the left side I hit my 3 hybrid to the edge of the green shooting for a birdie from about 25 feet I got it close to the pin and made par Keep up the good work Big Met Thanks Steve
Very enjoyable
We had a great time playing. We were paired up with some guy and then another guy. The one fellow played through after the front nine because my friend was doubling us up on a couple holes or maybe he was just in a hurry. It still only took us four hours to play 18 while letting two single groups play through.
Slow Play from the goodtime hackers
Foursome of twenty somethings with cart loaded up with beer driving to each others ball watching every shot. We asked to play through was told "what's the hurry ? were here to have a good time......relax" they then drove away cussing at us. We backed off and let them get a hole ahead of us fearing more issue's with them. No further conflicts but we left after 9 holes. I've played Big Met maybe 30 times over the years this was my worst experience playing there.
This course is well maintained
Great course with a great layout. My favorite was hole 11 with a great view of the fairway. Wish it was a little cheaper and less crowded.
Too many beginners; slow play
This is a nice public course but is often very crowded and the pace of play is too slow. Too many beginners playing here and instead should be playing Little Met or Mastick. Too bad there isn't a way to deter beginners from playing here because I can no longer play a course where it always takes over 5 hours to play 18.
Big Met is in good shape
This course is in great shape considering the weather recently - well done by grounds crew.
