Don't play Blue course
I was very disappointed in the blue course I had to stop playing it on the third hole the maintenance of the lawn was bad I called the staff and they said play the red course it's much better and they where right I was pleased.
not ready
This course is not ready for play yet. I -played the red course the weekend before and that course was in good shape, so I figured the Blue course had to be good also. I was wrong. I cannot believe they are taking peoples money and sending them out on this course. It's robbery.
very nice course layout. wish it was in better condition the greens are in terrible shape and it was like playing in a swamp everywhere else
Not ready to be open for play.
With the rich history of this course, I can’t help but say how disappointed I was. I know they are trying to bring it back to exceptable conditions. Obviously they haven’t been able to mow in a while and what they did mow, they left clumps of grass to just make your ball dissapear, they should mow, clean up and take care of those greens before opening to the public. I’d give it another month before opening. Thank goodness we could switch to the red course where it was playable.
Highland Park Veteran
Have been playing Highland for years. More than 30 off an on. Please that some long needed improvements have happened but it seems like things have stalled. Proshop almost empty, water jugs always empty, ball washers empty, tees are terrible.......greens cutters have poor etiquette. They never turn off mowers while putting. I used to cut greens as a summer job so know the process. They do not make the last circular cut on greens that are out of view of the clubhouse. Looks like upkeep of mowers is fair at best looking at the quality of cuts. I am loyal but sorry things are not great even for the price. Hope things improve. Thanks
good
I like the course very much.would tell other people.
Blue Course in very sad condition....greens, fairways, & tee boxes have seen much better days.
Course needs tons of work. Most of the greens have bare spots. The fairways had been recently cut..it looked like they were ready to start baling. Many of the tee boxes were totally bare. On the bright side there were some fun, interesting holes. #1 & #18 were risk/reward holes...better to lay up to creek and then hit long uphill 2nd shots. May consider playing next year!
Horrible Conditions
Played this course in the past, was never great, but today was totally awful. Greens had terrible dry spots and were not puttable. I only played the whole round because my partner just asked to finish and not come back. Fairways were about as low as me cutting my lawn. Dry spots everywhere tee box actually had weeds on it. This was by far the worst course I have played. Until they do a complete rehaul, I will not be back. I have photos to prove.
it rained all day didn,t go to course because of rain would like to get money back
rain all day want a rain check
once and done
Blue course - Until this course gets their act together, I will not be back. Supposedly they invested in a new irrigation system but the greens were dead dry with brown/dirt spots on every hole, some had cracks from the dryness that were like putting over the grand canyon. every hole is straight so as long as you hit it in the fairway you should score well. the conditions were just terrible. I wouldn't even call the traps sand traps, more like brown dirt areas.
One and Done
Seems to be a frequent comment, but this was my first and last visit. Other reviewers have accurately portrayed the bad conditions. I paid $10 and feel they should have paid me $10 to play.
Course conditions
1) Overall is good.
2) Summer time ground conditions are not maintained well due to extremely hot and dry conditions.
3) Course management is helpful.
The Blue "Links" Course is a Disappointment.
I am not a fussy golfer, but my first (and last) round on the Highland Park "Links" course was very disappointing. The fairways are full of ruts and bare spots, and the un-mowed rough is full of bigger ruts, grass clumps, goose droppings, branches, and more. My friend and I lost at least 6 balls each in the high rough, despite carefully tracking the line of flight. The greens are VERY fast for lack of water, and whoever is changing the cup locations should be fired immediately. Every plug from "yesterday's hole" was uneven with the surface, and had a large air gap around it. This gap has caused most of the plugs to die, creating a series of 4-inch divots across the green.
The blue course is long, so we played the gold tees at about 5700 yards. The gold "tee boxes" are little more than sort-of mowed areas in the fairway, with lots of debris, bare spots, and uneven ground.
For what it's worth, I have played the Red "Valley" course twice previously, and had a much better impression. The red is also far from country club, but quite adequate for a value round.
The great suburban location of Highland Park has such potential, if only the city of Cleveland would invest some money. C;mon guys . . . You have a potential gem. Take care of it!
