From a ladies perspective
This course has a lot of forced carries, and most of them are not achievable for the average woman unless you're a long hitter. With an average drive of 150, it just doesn't work. Lovely course, very friendly staff, great restaurant. Greens fees among courses in NE Ohio are higher than you'd expect. I get that it's a semi private course, but still. Ads on the cart GPS on every hole got annoying (having to bypass them to get back to playing golf. ) It's ust not the course for me or my bestie, who is a member at Sandridge.
Fun Year
Been playing my rounds each week at Stonewater for a few years now. The course is always being improved and the amenities are great. A tough but fun course for the average level golfer.
Great time and course
Had a great time on this course. It is nice and not expensive. My favorite part is that they have golf carts with GPS.
Course is a total shag course, can see why it’s public now due to lacking memberships, Don’t play
What Happened
I have played this course multiple times and the conditions have been great. But now pretty much every bunker is under repair with mini excavators in them. Greens were rock hard and if you go a couple of inches off the fairway your ball is lost as the grass looks like it hasn't been cut for a while. Also the starters and the pro shop employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. Won't be coming back for a while.
Not a place to go early in the season
All of the tees on 1,16,17 and 18 irrigated with the pellets completely covering them. At least six holes all of the green side bunkers completely demolished to be redone and ground under repair. And they charged full price. Complete rip off.
Great Value
First time on course and played very true. Upgrade from many local courses. Challenging but easily can be played by golfers of many skill levels. Friendly staff except for starter. He must of had a bad day but no harm. We'll worth it.
I give this course 4.5 stars
Course is a bit overpriced at $80/round. Should be in the $65-70 range. Other than that experience was great.
Course Under Repair
Course has gone semi-private to private a couple of times. However, in its current condition it’s going to stay public for some time. Previous review is spot on about course conditions. Fairways were in rough shape and were overwatered that had led to poor turf conditions and dead grass. In addition to this, many of the bunkers were in the process of being redone and not playable.
None of these issues were mentioned by the prison. Play at your own risk for the price.
Poor Conditions
This course used to be a great play. Things change.
I was very disappointed with the conditions of the course. Nothing was cut recently at all. Greens were very hairy and bumpy. The entire course needed water - it was very brown.
Hopefully they put some work in on it and get this track back to its former glory.
