rainy days here again
Course was quite wet, but couldn't be helped because of the amount of rain. In okay condition, but staff need some work. I played the red course and was sent to start on the back nine. When I came around to the first hole I was asked by a different member what I was doing and did I have proof of paying. Explained the situation and he was quite skeptical. Good thing I had the receipt in my pocket. As it was I had to wait behind two groups when there was essentially no one else on the course.
great greens
Highland has some of the best greens I have ever putted on for a public course. Very true and very well kept. Sometimes the pace pf play is slow, but over all its a good course for the money.
lots of uneven lies
Many fairways have undulating slopes & hills that are a challenge. Ones feet are frequently above or below the ball. The rough is fairly long & in some places the grass cuttings line the fairways.
The course seems wide open on weekdays.
Use a cart unless you are young and fit.
highland park
I played the blue side so this only applies to it. The course was average at best. Greens were ok but had sand spots more so on the perimeter. About half the holes do not have a cart path.
good courses
course conditions are getting better and better. Nice people. Clubhouse is in good shape. I'll be back
Pleasant Experience
The course was in very good condition and played quickly. Greens were good, but definitely need work.
good value for amateurs golfers
moderately differcult, great value average golfer, beginning, seniors and most local golfers
COULD USE SOME FAIRWAY MARKERS
when we got there the person in the pro shop wasn't really friendly and it was like he would be somewhere else.then we got to the starter and he was very friendly said we could go to the blue or red course so we chose the blue let me tell u that the blue course is very long so you better bring the boom stick lol.me and m y friend played at a great pace but the biggest down fall on the blue course is that there is no yardage markers other than the 150 marker could us a 100 yard maker!!!! but all in all the course was in a very good codition and the greens were true and were in awesome shape
Most poorly maintained golf course I've played in 50 years. Stay away from this course.
Nothing on this plot of land resembles a golf course. Our cart ran out of gas. Fairways and rouf were like a wheat field. Stay away from this course unless you're a goat.
Poorly maintained golf course
The fairways were full of grass clippings and the ruff was at least six inches tall. I lost about 7 balls just because the grass was so tall. Overall I paid eleven dollars to play 18 with a cart and that was still too much.
Highland Park Golf Course - Red
I played when the course was extremely wet so it made my round tougher. The rough was very thick and the fairways could of been cut a little shorter. There are a few water hazards but nothing too concerning and most holes were a straight shot from the tee boxes. Make no mistake though I thought it was a challenging course. The greens were hard to read and the course is quite hilly. While I was playing the grounds crew was cutting the grass which didn't make much sense with the wet conditions and they undoubtedly made the course worse. Other than that though I will definitely play this course again.
Needs a lot of work on the greens
Needs work on the fairways and greens. The greens were very bumpy and not consistant with speed from green to green.
improving
I've been playing Highland since I first learned about 15 years ago. The conditions have fluctuated over time but currently the course looks promising this year. The patches of grassless green are still there in all the same places they have been for years. Overall the rest of the course is in good condition. Drying out nicely. If they could just get grass to grow in those few problem ares it would return to being a pretty decent course at a good value. Construction on 15 red is done and looks good. Makes it a tougher hole, a good challenge (that I failed).
Below par
Keep expectations low, good for general hacking.
I paid for cart but was paired up to share cart with another single.
The course has very poor drainage. Played two days after rain and the tee box, fairways and greens were soggy.
good city course
Maintenance has improved over course of season but wish they could control the massive flying insects. Nuisance
Course worth the $15.
The course is under new management. I can see the improvement their trying to make. I played the blue course and the greens rolled very nice. Haven't played this nice in a while. Most definitely worth the $15 I paid, will play again.
poor condition, uninteresting layout
Played the RED 18. poor condition. easy, no thrills course. Many holes hitting tee shots blind, so you don't know if there's a group in front of you. Unnerving when you are hitting your second shot and don't know if someone is teeing off because they can't see you. Cart paths are horrendous. Not the course to bring a client.
Keep up the good work
They are making much needed improvements. The clubhouse finally has some clothing for sale, no equipment yet. The Red course is in fairly good condition, while the blue course usually has very high rough which means lost balls when you miss the fairway. Glad to see that they are trying. The cousre has great potential and it's close to home!!!
course is getting better.
course is coming around,it still needs a lot of work when to come paired to the metro courses.the greens were very slow, need to be roled.good deal for the money.
Blue course need simple, low cost fairway marking, that may cost just $100! Blue, white and red wooden stakes are just fine. Why can't they do it?
Please pay little more attention to courses, they need some very basic maintenance, that is sessional like pur distance markers in blue and red both courses. It will cost them Just $100 at the top.
