Fox Hollow Golf Club

For the listed retail price of $105, I don't think this course would be worth it, but we got it for more than half off, which made it a steal. It's a formerly fully private course that's now "semi private" (so basically public), it seems to be trying to find its price point. It was really, really empty, I mean so empty my group didn't see another group the entire day on the course, which I thought was unusual for a Tuesday after a holiday. The place was beatufiul, though, excellent design, lots of up and downs. There are six par 3's, which might bother some I guess. Fairly challenging, but not overly penal, either. The place was really well kept, nice and green even after a very long dry stretch. It'd be great in the fall, too.

The only downside is that this area of New Jersey is really in this weird inacessible spot, like unless you live there, it takes you an hour to get there. Strange!

I was excited to play this course as I had read good things. I was disappointed. The staff was friendly and the course looked good from afar but that was it. The bunkers were abysmal, no sand, hard and not maintained. I was in a fairway bunker that was like concrete but it had moss growing on it. The greens were punched about a week prior but not consistent from hole to hole. The worst part was the wet conditions. It was from over watering which actually started again while I was playing. I actually had a pitch shot splash on a green, walked up and it was like a wet sponge. Add to that the fact that the group in front of us was terribly slow, had 2 holes open in front of them, never waived us up and there was no ranger to be found. For what I paid ($67) I felt cheated.

They had just aerated to greens, and didn't inform us ahead of time. This took away from the expierence but the layout was also poor. Would not go back.

I have played a lot of golf this summer and this was the first time playing Fox Hollow. First I'll say I don't see how it's rated only 3.8 stars. That's a huge understatement. This is one of the best courses I've played in NJ ever. If you're a 10 or less handicap play from the back tees and it'll be more challenging and enjoyable. The condition of the course is the best of what I've played this year out of anywhere in the country. Given our summer conditions I felt like I was at a country club of the highest caliber.The views are great from the tees. Everything but 1 or 2 holes plays with elevated tees and either uphill or downhill 2nd and 3rd shots. True mountain golf at it's best. The course is fairly open yet challenging. All types of players will enjoy this place. The only thing that I could barely even complain about is that the greens were aerated a week ago and I assume slower than normal. But they rolled true and were no issue. I can just imagine how challenging they will be when fully back and cut faster.

Great course in great condition. Glad they have opened up to the public. Will go back in a heartbeat.

One of my favorite courses here and GolfNow makes it a great value. It's enjoyable from the white tees and challenging from the blues.

Course is private but allow some outside play or use "Golf Now". Played this course 6 times in the last 2 years and it is always enjoyable. Course conditions are very good. There is a challenge on just about every hole. Its important where to place your tee ball for second shot.

Very disappointing day of golf. First problem there was no rangers/starters on the course. So the group behind us was on the tee box while we were teeing off. Second problem was the pace of play. A course the should have only taken three and a half to fours hours to play took five. There was a 20 minute wait every hole. Third problem was he bugs. The bugs were terrible. They were always flying into my face and were really annoying. Despite all the negatives I still managed to shoot my usual 67.

Course was moderate in difficulty ... some holes require local knowledge - after couple of rounds... could see strokes saved in a few places ... Course was in excellent shape -

Fox Hollow offers a scoreable, relatively short course, but there is big-time danger lurking on some holes. The par 3's are all challenging and with the hills, some shots are blind. The greens were in good shape considering that the foursome in front of us never fixed a ball mark. They also have some good canting to them, so be careful, especially when you are above the hole.

This is a nice course that I will play again. The only downside I could note was the greens were a little boring. Mostly just placed on the side of hills with big back to front slants that got a little old. Otherwise was a nice round

Very challenging course well maintained and very friendly staff.

It was a perfect day for golf. although I can't say that the course was perfect. I would be hard pressed to find something wrong with it. The greens were quick and in great shape and fairly challenging. Some pin locations made them extremely difficult (some four and a five putt in our group). which made for some cursing and a lot of laughing. The course seems to play longer than its yardage suggests and is very well designed for maximum enjoyability - That is if you actually enjoy this game !!!

This was the first time in over 30 years that I had the opportunity to play here and I was very pleased.
This course is beautifully maintained with a fair layout.
Don't be surprised if you play it for the first time to score a little higher than you expected there are some challenging holes that having played the tract before would make a big difference.
I would highly recommend it to everyone and I will be back hopefully often.

I have to say this is definitely my favorite public course in NJ. I love it. Definitely challenging and very beautifully laid out.

We played after three days of rain so it was cart path only. The course was in good shape, but for the bunkers which had no or hard packed sand. The rough around the greens was very thick and made chipping a real challenge. 9 and 18 are par 3s over water played longer than my GPS yardage showed. The course layout was not particularly memorable, alot of up and down holes. As for value I think there better choices for the money.
