Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club

About
Located just 30 miles west of Cleveland, FoxCreek Golf and Racquet Club is one of the best golf courses in Lorain County. The layout has a classic design with a shorter length and forgiving fairways. The terrain is hilly, which provides the most challenging elements of the course from the rolling undulations to the elevated tees and greens. You'll encounter numerous doglegs as well as a few blind approaches. The postage stamp-sized greens can be especially tricky. They are faster than they seem and have subtle breaks where you wouldn't expect. From the back tees, the golf course will test even the most seasoned golfer, however, FoxCreek has a nice balance of tough and player-friendly holes with plenty of variety. Your score will depend more on how creatively you utilize your shot making skills rather than on sheer strength or distance.

Terrible woman coordinator
The woman I checked in with named Chris, was awful. She was rude and pushed out tee time back 2 and a half hours! Didn't care to give us a free drink or appetizer. Pretty much gauked at the idea. She was just the start, the course was boring, hit it straight 200, go left, up the hill, do it again. I was unimpressed to say the least. If you can't coordinate when you have tee times available, you need to treat your clients better. This was bad business. Greens were nice but hole placement was questionable at best. I will never go back, save your money, go somewhere else
Fox Creek in Lorain, OH
Course is in good condition even after a hot summer. Greens rolled good and were not all beat up. Some tee boxes had some sandy spots but very playable. Fairways were good and rough had some sun damage. You are not supposed to be in the rough anyway. Sand traps were good and raked. Going to play there again tomorrow.
Fox Creek
Very nice course, the dry spell is taking its toll on the course. They are watering the grass, so their try!!!
For those with a higher handicap, bring lots of balls. It is a hard course!
Mediocre at best
Greens were a bit rough. So was the rest of the course.
Good Value
Can’t beat a round for under $40 with decent course conditions. The tee boxes could use some work - some rough grass, sand, and slope. Greens were hard, but weren’t playing fast. The overall course layout was challenging - some tee shots had small windows and thin fairways, while others were wide open. Greens were fairly small in size, but you weren’t penalized too badly if you missed. Played as a solo and was waiting 3-5 mins on every hole to hit, but still finished my round in just under 4 hours.
not very good
Anyone saying this course is in good condition has never seen good condition or workd for the course. The greens were not bad the tees are atrocious and the fairways ate pitiful as well. The layout is fine a few challenging holes with a couple too many doglegd. It is obviously not private anymore but has really slipped but still not the worst course in the world.
Watch the deer and enjoy a great course
I've been playing this course for years. It went through a rough period, but newer management has done a great job of improving conditions the last few years. It has a large lay-out which brings in many outings. Wildlife is abundant and we watched deer on many holes. The pro-shop is minimal, but they have an adjacent bar/grille with many options and cold A/C.
Hot Day in the Bowl
I've been playing Fox Creek since it was Lorain CC back in the 70's. It's still very challenging for me, but of course now I'm very "distance challenged". Course not in bad shape, especially considering recent rains/storms. Greens seemed a little slow this day, but still putted true ..........and glad to be slow on the downhill putts of #9 or 11. These greens are not flat, so bring your creative putting stroke to play the break. There are a few stupid holes --#10,11,& 17, not just because they were my (lucky 1-putt) Bogies. I was lucky to be teamed with good guys, and our pace-of-play was great. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals, and I will be back to redeem myself on holes 5-8. At any rate, I do recommend Fox Creek for the challenge.
Trash
Pouring rain and lightning going into back 9. No rain check.
Up and coming
This course is turning it around and will be a great course in the near future! My only complaint is the lack of starter and yard markers, other than that, the layout is challenging and the upkeep is very good!
Pleasant front desk guy
Pro shop fella was nice. Pace of play was good. Course in usual fair condition.
Wet
Tough to rate course. Was surprised it was open from all the rain we've had. They weren't able to mow for a few days. The woman taking tee times let us know how the conditions were before booking. We still played. Expected worse than it was.
