Jamaica Run Golf Club

Course is in terrible shape. Some greens are aerated with temporary pins off the green. Greens that are open are not even playable. Fairways nonexistent. First hole they let a group of 6 go off. We paid $29/person and it was not worth it. I would not play here again even if it was free.

The entire course is in awful condition. The fairways have been trashed and aren't cut. The rough is unmanaged. Every green has over grown and has multiple dead spots. Six greens are "under repair" so you play to a flag in the "fairway". Even for $35, it's not worth it. I hope they are able to save it.

Not sure what’s happened. Whole course was standing water but no other Dayton courses currently are. Couldn't putt any of the greens because half had temporary greens in front of actual green and the other half hadn’t been mowed for a week at least and were mostly sand. Fairways weren’t mowed or discernible. Carts are in bad shape and filthy. Ours broke down on the first hole. $35 for 18 with a cart. Play elsewhere.

I have always liked the layout at Jamaica Run. It is not very hilly and it causes you to think your way around the course.

The majority of the greens were in terrible shape. There were several weeds and bare spots on most of the greens . . . (and there should never be any weeds on the green).

However, they are working to correct this problem. “Temporary Greens” were set up on most of the holes while they work on restoring the greens back to good shape.

Fairways also need to be revived to get them back to where they need to be.

I have never left a review good or bad. I felt like others need to be aware of the unplayable conditions this golf coarse is in. I’ve played the coarse for several years but this was the 1st time in almost 2 years. There was not one green in putting condition, and I don’t mean because they just aerated them. The greens had not been cut in at least a week full of crab grass or nothing but sand with no growth of any kind. The fairways were all over grown with weeds and crabgrass and maybe mowed once in the last 2-3 weeks.

I really hate to see this coarse in this kind of condition because it was a nice fair priced coarse to take my son as he’s learning how to play the game.

If you like rude staff, overpriced sand and patch grass greens at every single hole, Tees chopped into dirt and dug w mower blades, deep deep rough to where you could lose your ball within 5’ of fairness shot if you look away from it. A detract course would give it a compliment. Do not waste your money this is not golf. I could’ve made better greens at home with residential equipment and sand/dirt. They told me greens are being repaired!!!! That was a complete tale. These were more dirt and sane than anything green. Literally the worst “open” course I’ve ever seen. They should pay me back for tolerating that horrible mess of what used to be somewhat decent course by the layout. One star is too much.

The course layout was in disrepair. The practices green was littered with weeds and this condition spread to the rest of the greens on the course. The fairways were not mowed (which led to loosing balls that may have been in fairway as the thickness of the grass was about 1.5-2.0 inches) and the tee boxes were also not mowed. There were some greens that were being aerated and grass was not on the green. This course was one of the worst I have ever played.

My wife and I drove up from Cincy thinking we would play a nice country course. After hitting a few ball at driving range that literally looked like a cow pastes. We drove over to the practice putting green and discovered there was more crab grass and sandy bare spots than bent. The course is a joke and Golfnow should never sell another tee time for them. My wife half way up the 2nd fairway said this is by far the worst course we have played this year. On the 3rd hole she said the course was in the worst condition we have ever played. Save your money and your time and drive to the nearest farm to see if you can get a tee time to play in their pasture.

Very sad to say, but course was in great condition at the beginning of the year. Played it weekly and got me playing again. Been playing around the area so decided to revisit the course and I was very sad to see the condition of the entire course. Greens are worse than my carpets. Hope they get a grounds crew help for next year.

Played here in June and I would say it wasn’t bad for the money. Played over the weekend and it was totally different. Heavy dead grass laying all over the entire golf course. Fairways riddle with crab grass and other weeds. Tee boxes were so hard, you almost needed a hammer to put a tee in. The greens were absolutely ridiculous. Most had spotty sections of grass and sand. Several were all sand. I will not waste my money and golf here again.

I’ve probably played this course 15 times over the last 20 years. The last t time was maybe two or three years ago. I remember it being a little rougher than usual. But not bad. Before our round my friend bought a small bucket of balls. The driving range was like hitting from the rough. The first whole i spent several minutes searching for my ball which was just short of the green. The greens were a combination of crabgrass and sand. Truly un puttable The y let a group of 5 tee off in front of us. They actually kept pace foe a while but seemed to take their time with 4 holes to play We played in Bout 4 hours 20 minutes. Tha 5 some teed off 20 minute before us. I am truly saddened. This was one of the first courses I remember ti have bent grass fairways and greens.

Maybe weather conditions this summer have contributed, but the greens on this course are like weedy sandboxes and the fairways could use a trim too.

Easily the worst kept course I've ever played. Don't enjoy putting them down either, but the course was basically unplayable. Half the greens covered in sand and bare spots or weeds. Honestly do not spend more than say $15 and even then, expect the worst. Trust me. Staff was nice tho.

You get the feeling that this course was really nice in it's heyday. But now, it needs some work. The pace was a little slow, but the players were great about letting people play through. I am attaching a photo of the 12th green. It was more sand and dirt than grass. Some greens were a little better but none would be considered good. It was very inexpensive, but still felt like I paid too much.

Played after a rain storm the previous night. Cart path only. Soggy, but playable off the tee and approach shots. You had no shot putting on most of the greens. Still a cheap, fast round. Got some exercise and swings in.

Jamaica Run is a special place. My favorite thing to do is to play the course alone. It is enjoyable, casual, quiet, and fun. Is the course in perfect condition? No. But it feels like home. Go play Jamaica Run and have fun. You’ll want to come back!
