Caution- course Reno
The few greens that are open run fast. You pay almost full rate and atleast half the tee boxes and greens are currently moved.. I hope come April the course is finished!
Normally I like this course very much. Unfortunately there was a lot of construction and repair on this day. A necessary evil I understand but it did affect the quality of the day. Would have been helpful to know in advance. Probably would have played anyway.
Conditions vs price
New owners making major improvements. I got notified the day before playing that there would be six temporary greens and every tee box temporary. I feel right now the cost to play there is too high for what you are getting. It has been a really mild winter and I know they are getting a very high volume of players for this time of year.
Back after 40 years
I played again after 40 years because of the good things I've heard. The course always had a good classic layout. The new owners are pouring a ton of money into the course and it shows. I'll be back when it gets warmer.
PS the 19th hole food is fantastic.
Dan’s thoughts
Look, every time we play golf and the day is as nice as it was on 2/10/23, it’s perfect. But we wish we would have been informed about the redos of all the tee boxes and greens being done all at once, either at check in or by the starter. The food, drinks, and service afterwards surely made up for it. We had a terrific day. Dan Barclay
Most holes were shortened by up to 100 years to temporary tee boxes that were not at all flat. temporary greens as well... Not a good experience!
Not pleased
I was not happy that 16 of the 18 holes were being renovated so there was heavy equipment throughout the course which didn’t allow for an experience that resembled a true golf outing.
Lots of work going on
Always liked this course. Great layout. New owner has many changes going on. Probably would stay away until summer. Should be beautiful once work is completed.
What a comeback
Played this course years ago. Some of the greens were actually dirt. I been playing there for the last two years after an ownership change and the course is in terrific condition. It's my favorite course to play in south Jersey.
Monday play at Pinelands
Only a slight delay and a chilly wind to start. Noticed the course was doing tee box and fairway repairs, nice to see. I only remember 1temp. green. As for my 4 star rating, my explanation is simple. This is my highest rating for this time of year. Course repairs, no cart service and the dreaded frost delay are my reasons for not getting a 5. We had great time here. Our round was less than 3 hours. I later found out that the finishing touches are happing to the restrooms so the exterior facilities will be removed. I definitely will be back, once the temp is higher than freezing.
Once u-pond a time
Well! they got rid of the stupid ponds on the 7th and 17tth, and they won't be missed. If you haven't been here in a while do yourself a favor and give it a try. The greens are in great shape, but they still have the/same quirks of the past. Which if not careful could leave you with a longer second putt than you had on first one. Looking forward to returning soon.
Great job by the grounds team…. If you avoided this course the last few years I couldn’t blame you.. but ur definitely missing out now…. On a hot deal it was a steal even the rack rate is a good value
Monday Pinelands review
With weather changes, we got a short Frost delay before play. We were teamed with a 4th player. We didn’t at first know that there were a couple of temporary greens that were in play. I would have liked to know that before starting. No big issue but…
When we got finished, we were looking forward to a beer and a sandwich when we were informed that the “Winter season changes” didn’t include lunch on Monday’s. Oh well, we went down the street to a little deli store for lunch.
