Good Value
Course is a little chopped up, they are doing a lot of construction now. You can see where they want it to go, and once it is there it will be great... long way to go until they reach there though I think.
They're Doing Great Things @ Pinelands
This was our 2nd round this year and they are doing all the right things to make this course very playable. We all struggled on the greens today. They were pristine but fluffy and rolled much slower than the practice green. #3puttbogey.
I am relatively new to the game, and this course did not disappoint! This was my second time here and all the work the new owners are putting in is paying off! Beautiful course and friendly staff!
Good value
Nice course. Will be a lot better with the new grass and renovations
It's getting better all the time
Best shape it's been in since I've been playing there. Not that long ago we would have had the place to ourselves, those days appear to be over,, even had to park in the last row In spite of all the golfers out everything moved right along. Look forward to coming back soon. Would love to see them turn the par 3 seventh hole into a short testy par 4 (just. back the tee up 100 yards).
Highly Recommend.
We took a chance on a different course and it paid off. Fantastic layout, with challenging greens. The owners are doing all the right things to improve the conditions. Bottom line is we talked about making this our go to Jersey course. We I'll be back !
First impressions
Having never played Pinelands before, I must say it is a visually appealing place as you drive in. The gentleman inside was very pleasant and accommodating. The gentleman outside, not so much.
A range is available that you have to walk across the parking lot to get to. (No carts in parking lot).
I can notice where they took out the thousands of trees. Opening up fairways and widening areas to miss a little will be great. They did to seem to leave a few trees in strategic locations, that I thought was a good idea. Also seemed to make a couple green side bunkers into small ponds with sprinklers in them. Something I’ve never seen before. Again, personally, I liked it. 5 par 5s and 5 par 3s is an interesting aspect. Par 3s average 160 from white tees. The course is fairly open, even with all the mature trees that line almost every hole. A good amount of ground under repair is understandable considering recent renovations , but almost all of it doesn’t get in your way. Greens were fast and not to beat up.. Bunkers were playable and maintained. Tees and fairways were 80-90% with some spots needing some more love. Some slight elevation changes are a nice change for Jersey.
Believe all the recent positive reviews of Pinelands. I’m glad I made the trip and plan on returning this year to hopefully shave 7-10 strokes off my first time thru. ( All of my group were first time player’s. A little local knowledge would of helped all of us immensely)
The best I’ve seen this course.
Started earlier due to a twosome being a little late. They passed once the caught up.
Like I stated at the beginning, this was the best I’ve seen this course. Sure there’s a couple areas that needs to fill out, but they had tree crews clearing the deadwood and now the raking is underway to clear the leaves and branches between the fairways. With this work, we played under 3-1/2 hrs. We were asked to pick and place the ball from the wooded areas. We respected that. Luckily we were in but about 4 times total for a foursome.
The restaurant was great. Food and beverage was spot on.
Definitely will be playing here again.
Great Course
The Pinelands is a beautiful course that is only going to get better with time. Every time I play they are making it better.
Much improved
Course is in great shape. Kudos to the grounds crew.
2nd time I could not finish
This is the second time I've played I had to walk off without finishing the round, However, I'm not so sure it's a result of the course "over" booking"? In both instances, the backup started at the 10th and 11th, and worsened from there. Perhaps moving the snack stand to the 17th green would motivate people to move faster. For those that are on in 7, please don't line up a 3 foot putt like it's the PGA Championship. I'm not good, but at least I'm fast... There were two other golfers in my group, one never complains, but he did about the pace this day.
I rated it 5 because the conditions were good and continue to get better, and the staff, carts and everything else were great. The hard work is noticed.
I'm going to give it a few more tries, maybe I just had a run of some golfers that lack etiquette, or common sense.
Nice layout
This course has five par-fives and five par threes, which is very unusual.
Changes being made are very nice improvements.
Tees were in great shape, greens very puttable but still slow on the front nine after aeration, with visible sand.
Fairways were , for the most part, decent, and improvements being made are welcome, should turn out nice.
I really do like this golf course.
