Green Crest Golf Club
About
Green Crest Golf Club is a player-friendly course located in Middletown. The course was designed in 1972, offering a traditional layout with wide, forgiving fairways and short roughs. The golf course is on the shorter side at 6,271 yards from the back tees, which is indicative of the time it was designed. Strategically placed bunkers lurk along the medium-sized greens on six holes and there are water hazards coming into play on eight holes, but the challenges are straightforward and don't present too much trouble for high handicappers. It might not be the golf course you're looking for if you want a truly formidable test, but it's a good option if you're looking for a quick and affordable round. Green Crest Golf Club is ideal for beginners and even gentle enough for juniors.

Poor condition
Course was in very bad condition. If you're lucky/good enough to hit the fairway, it was like hitting off of concrete.
Also, course is very confined. I ended up leaving after 11 holes.
Will not be returning.
I would not recommend this course.
The greens were in poor condition and were slow. Fairways need attention as well . Don't waste your time playing this course.
do not have a driving range.
this is an ok course, fairly narrow at times and it forces you to hit good shots. it does not have a driving range so get ready for a cold start. However, if you are looking for a good practice run the course have a little bit of everything for you.
Nice Cour$e
I really enjoy this course. Layout is nchallenging and the greens are in pretty good shape. Fairways are heat damaged but since I played into the sprinklers - they are taking care of the course.
poor course
Very very slow play. Course was in horrible condition. Very open course. Greens were well watered but full of ball marks and junk. Wouldn't play again even if they offered a free round.
Needs some work but not bad value
Fairly inexpensive so not a bad value but the course needs maintenance. Easy to get in trouble if you aren't straight off the tee. Pace of play can be slow as there are often beginner/young golfers.
Needs attention
Could barely tell the difference between the fairways and the roughs. One of the holes on the back nine was literally flooded and the entire green was swampy, the hole itself was filled with water. Other than that it was a pretty solid course
Will not play there again.
I had played this course a couple of times several years ago in outings and they did not have bent grass fairways, so I quit going there to play otherwise. Thought I'd give them another look. They still do not have bent grass fairways, just short cut normal grass with clover with the little white flowers. I'm not a great golfer by any means. And the 'fairways' were horrible - bare dirt in a lot of areas, hard as a rock. If I did not book tee times on GolfNow.com., my wife and I would've paid $80 for 18 holes and a cart, and I would've asked for some kind of refund. I cannot believe how bad of shape this course was in. Doesn't look like they're putting any money back into it at all. Very disappointing, and do not recommend this course at all.
Gotta hit it straight here or else!
Fairways are brick-hard and baked right now so it's all tight lies and hard-pan. The fairways are not watered (not all courses have the luxury of watered fairways and its been dry for weeks now). Greens are in good shape and well watered and will hold shots nicely. This is about a $25-$30 course in my opinion.
This is not a long course but it requires straight shots. It's an old-school, tree-lined, up and back course with fairways right next to each other separated by trees. If you are not straight, you will be punished with a lot of punch shots. Margin for error is small on the course, so it is a challenge. Right now, as dry as it is, it is almost playing like a links course- several times on 220 and out approach shots we hit our 170,180 clubs and rolled to the green. Overall, with the baked conditions right now, any wayward shot is punished severely, so the course is playing much, much more difficult than it normally would.
Beautiful layout, terrible maintenance.
This course has a great layout however it is terribly maintained. The bunkers are the only elements well kept. The greens and fairways were awful but that was primarily due to the lack of ball mark and divot repairs. Also the fairways were like hitting out of the rough. There is a high volume of golfers thus very slow play.
Good Course
I like this course a lot. The fairways aren't in the greatest shape. Many blotches throughout. Greens had some blotches too, but over all a nice lay out, although short course.
Good course for a novice golfer
Generally in very good shape but is getting a little dry on the fairways as the summer progresses.
A good practice course
Desk staff worker was not very friendly with no organization. Basically told us that our tee time was over booked and we had to duke it out with the other group to see who would go first.
It is a beginner to intermediate level course, be prepared to wait long periods on tee boxes.
will play there again
the course was challenging but if you stay in the fairways you can shoot a low score
Not too bad
This course is a lot rougher than I remembered, however the greens were in unbelievably great shape. The fairways need some attention and were rock hard which made drives alil longer than usual. Also, there were a lot of kids there but they kept a good pace and did not slow us down. Overall it was a good round for a great price.
Nice course
Nice course, would play there again. Staff is pretty friendly and easy to get along with.
An average course with some challenging holes, though the course needs attention...
We like Greencrest but when they start to keep up with course maintenance then they are just like all of the other average or below average courses open to the public. Some of the fairways were burnt up meaning they have chosen not to water them or they applied too much chemical or both. The tee boxes are terrible. In the game of golf they should be flat and the rest of the course can present the challenges: e.g. fairways ruff and greens. It does not take much to level them off and this is just laziness by the grounds crew and overall poor course maintenance. The greens were OK and the bunkers had real sand in them so the course is OK.
Great Value
Course is in great shape. Check in was smooth and friendly. The course is a fair challenge for both beginners and more mature golfers. Great value for the money!
We call it “The Country Club”
We play the course often. Whether it’s the ground keepers’ friendly wave, or the lady in the snack bar demanding that you take a complementary cup of ice (to stay safe in the sun), you feel like a member of a family course. I often see the head pro cutting grass in the late evenings.
The course has a decent balance between joy and pain. The joy starts with a short teasing par four, begging you to jump on it. The pain begins on the third hole, a long narrow par four, which demands a high degree of accuracy off the tee.
You will find the course accommodating for a challenge or league play. The greens are well kept and moderately sized, so be prepared to chip if you’re used to championship style greens.
Play Green Crest and have fun!
The course is tight,
Played the course for the first time since the early 90's. I was pleasantly surprised with the shape of the course, and I will definitely be back to play.
