Wind Watch Golf & Country Club
About
Although it is located in Hauppauge on Long Island's North Shore, Wind Watch Golf Club possesses the look and feel of a destination course. Sprawling across a lush, rolling landscape covered with sparkling ponds, the course is as challenging as it is scenic. Water hazards come into play on 12 holes and there are more than 75 bunkers, some of which are massive in size, strategically placed throughout. Almost every hole presents golfers with a unique risk-reward opportunity. The golf course begins and ends at its highest point, which is one of the island's highest elevations. Wind Watch's closing hole provides a memorable finish as the only dogleg on the course. This par 4 takes a sharp left before climbing uphill to the triple-tiered green that is protected by three enormous traps.

what a view from the 18th green Photo submitted by Richard5321 on 11/02/2013
A challenge
The course is challenging with its length, water hazards, and fast greens. Must bring your “a” game. Greens were aerated but ran fast anyway. Grass wasn’t quite full and growing yet so lies were thin. Don’t really care for the first and eighteen holes which are a bit unfair. Halfway house could use an upgrade. Course was in good condition and pace of play excellent-4 hours for 18 holes.
Not enjoyable and disappointing
First off, I completely understand that courses need to aerate this time of the year here in NY with that said, they left the plugs laying all over the fairways. The bunkers were littered with rocks and pebbles, the course was overall in really rough shape. Again I know it's early in the season and we had a bad winter but I have played several rounds over the past few weeks and other courses were in much much better shape even right after being aerated. All of that for in season full price as well. I have played many rounds here over the years and I know that it's on the higher price end of public courses in the area and normally I would say that it is worth the price... not this time. I actually left after playing 9 holes.
Great course conditions
Great, friendly staff and course is in good shape. Greens are fast. Restaurant should open before 1 pm.
Bunkers
I leave the same review for most public courses. WAY TO MUCH GRAVEL. Pebbles, small stones etc...
Wind Watch
Convenient for me close by. I do like it even though it kicks my butt. Just can’t read the greens very fast and hard doesn’t hold a long to mid iron. Almost a guarantee to roll off back. Going back again tomorrow for more punishment. I need redemption lol
1 st time this year
Still early in the season so the coarse isn’t at it’s best yet but it was in good shape for this early in the season.
Very good for the first time out
Great staff as always. The course is in surprisingly good shape considering the winter we had. My only sticking point is the price this early in the season.
Pace of play was a real issue, there were a few groups that delayed tee times which led to 20 + min waits on each hole. Really would have appreciated the ranger intervening to speed things up. When you’re paying $115 for an off-season round you don’t expect a 5 hour + pace.
Waiting game
Very slow play due to people playing from the blue tees that don’t belong there. Watched time after time all but one player playing from trees or hazards because they think they can hit 250+. No ranger in sight to fix the situation. A 5 hour round does not make for a fun day.
Don't waste your money
Don't waste your money. This place is way too exspensive to not be in perfect condition. Staff here is very rude and not accommodating at all. There was a problem that their system had with a tee time I booked and they are charging me for 2 rounds saying I booked two. Aside from their system screwing up and screwing me the course had way to many dead spots to justify almost $250 for the round.
Great track
Course layout is really good although tight. Pace of play on a Monday in September at 1:10 was terrible. Foursome in front of us with 20 something’s were waiting for par four greens to clear from the blue tees and they couldn’t hit the ball 200 yards.
Five some in front of them was two holes down. Five hour round. Not enjoyable
Good Course
After the aeration the greens have turned out to be great
20th time playing

See you very soon.......David F.
