Wind Watch Golf & Country Club
About
Although it is located in Hauppauge on Long Island's North Shore, Wind Watch Golf Club possesses the look and feel of a destination course. Sprawling across a lush, rolling landscape covered with sparkling ponds, the course is as challenging as it is scenic. Water hazards come into play on 12 holes and there are more than 75 bunkers, some of which are massive in size, strategically placed throughout. Almost every hole presents golfers with a unique risk-reward opportunity. The golf course begins and ends at its highest point, which is one of the island's highest elevations. Wind Watch's closing hole provides a memorable finish as the only dogleg on the course. This par 4 takes a sharp left before climbing uphill to the triple-tiered green that is protected by three enormous traps.

Snails Pace
Played on Saturday July11, 2026:
- there was no “starter” controlling the first tee.
- we tee’d off 35 minutes late
- they were short carts
- not including our 35 delayed start, the round took 5 hours and 45 min.
- every par-3 was backed up 3 (4 some) waiting.
- no rangers floating around to help keep pace.
- course was in decent shape.
Challenging course
Challenging course with some narrow fairways, water carries, and fast greens. Course was in great shape, a pleasure to play. Took 4.5 hours midday Friday. Cart girl came around a lot, halfway house good. Cart made a noise, but otherwise good- no gps though.
Cool course lined with trees & water
Very cool course. I loved the layout of the 16th hole. I didn’t like the layout for the ending 18th hole. Uphill, 90 degree tee shot.
Father’s Day
I have played here before. The course is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. Greens are fast. It’s a definite must play. I wish the carts had GpS.
This course is for skilled golfers
Brought a buddy in from Queens turned him on to this course he loved it elevation changes plenty of water holes and bunkers great challenge for him he now wants more Long Island Golf!!
Awesome course
Very good course challenging conditions and an abundance of hazards. Course was windy the day I played.
Get It Together
This course cancelled a tee time on me less than 2 days before a federal holiday when every tee time within a 50 mile radius has been booked for weeks. I made the tee time weeks ago (like everyone else anticipating the holiday) and this course cancelled the tee time saying there was a tournament on that day. Absolutely ridiculous. Never playing here again.
Questionable Course Conditions
I've played Windwatch many times over the last 20 years and this was the poorest kept I've ever seen it.
The tee boxes were littered with broken tees to the point that the groundskeepers should've left a rake to clear a spot for tee off. The greens were exceptionally fast and loaded with pebbles from previous air rating -- they looked like they haven't seen a blower in a week. The fairways were ok, but the fringes seemed in disrepair (so if you hit a stray shot here or there, good chance you'll be hitting off missing grass).
If the course is gonna charge full fee, the least they could do is maintain the tees and greens.
Not worth the green fees, brutal pace
My son and I went out as a double for 1:00pm tee time. A threesome if young kids were in front of us, in front of them was a single. Behind us was another double. I asked the double if they wanted to join us - no. Starter should do a better job of grouping to make foursomes - and stop letting people tee off earlier in front of people with set tee times. Plus, the pace of play was brutal. We wound up skipping 3 holes just to get through only to be behind even more players and finally left after the 13th hole. Brutal!
Can’t believe it got this bad
Just two years ago, this was a top-notch golf course. It was one of my favorite places to play. I can’t believe how bad it’s gotten. The tee boxes are absolutely torn to shreds – as are the fairways. A few holes must’ve had about 50 divots from 60 yards out. The fairways are infested with them. . I’ve played all of the municipal courses in the area and this is in worse shape than those or at least just as bad. But those courses don’t charge over $100 to play. They should be embarrassed to ask for that.
Worst of all was the pace of play. At about five hours and 15 minutes, I left the course after an excruciatingly slow 14 holes. When I returned my cart, I asked if they ever put a Ranger out on the course and they dismissively snickered at the idea. The two workers basically said “ that’s too bad, it gets busy sometimes.”
I’m not sure if the course is under new management, but it definitely should be. Proceed with extreme caution, but if you do play – remind them that they need a Ranger
Overall, very good
Course is in great shape.
Good facilities with driving range and chipping area, although far apart.
With this caliber of a course, and price, you would think they would have GPS on their golf carts.
The only course layout ugliness is the sharp dogleg finishing hole. Odd for an 18th hole.
4hours 10 minutes rounding for 18 holes
Because 3 players were behind our group. A ranger made us to skip par 3 hole. We paid high cost of green fee and didn’t play a hole. It was so embarrassing moment and made us so upset. Instead skipping a hole we could let them go through. We were not so slow. We finished rounding 18 holes by 4 hours and 10 minutes. It’s my first time to push me skipping hole in my golf life. It was very uncomfortable and unforgettable experience.
Tricky layout
Nice course paths with potholes broken up bridge and needvof TLC. Course maintained. Staff extra nice.
Good course
Stunning views and well Kept course. Staff is always friendly. A bunch of the holes do not allow carts on the fairway which slows things up.
Fall-Off of WW Should Be Studied
I used to love this course. Making the drive out from Nassau was never an issue bc I was always blown away with the course. The layout is great, truthfully. I just wish the maintenance was held to a higher standard. But wow, what a fall off. To begin, my buddy and I pulled up to the grass range ready to hit balls and so we do, until we got yelled at for hitting off the grass instead of mats meanwhile there are no signs saying otherwise. The mats on the range are behind a slope so any low lofted clubs just hit the hill that’s in front of you. Practice greens were closed. To add to the lack of awareness, there was nothing prior to booking telling us that greens were aerated and that the course was cart path only on a course where it’s mandatory and bullsh!t to take a cart for $20 a rider when its cart path only. The fairways were full of unrepaired divots and the teeboxes were not in that great of shape. No wonder the pace of play is great (because no one wants to play it). For such a premium price, I just expect more.
