Glen Konet
Just a great experience. Played in 2 1/2 hours. Greens were in great shape and fairways firming up
Fair test of golf on a nice course
Second time playing here with a partner who was there for the first time. We're both bogey golfers and found the course to be plenty long (about 6,350 yards) snd reasonably challenging from the white tees. The course has a good bit of contour to it - flat and level lies were rarely enjoyed, adding challenge to ones game. Greens were running true if perhaps just slightly slower than some that we play and the obviously well-watered fairways were in very nice condition especially during some very hot dry weather. Playing as a twosome behind a couple foursomes, we waited on almost all our shots but still got around in 4 hrs 10 minutes. Both of us agreed we would love to play it again.
Hidden Gem
Plenty of people in our area do not know the quality of track Rawiga is. For a public course with low greens fees, this place is wonderfully kept. Fairways tight, rough long but not penal with greens as smooth and challenging as any around. I gladly take the 40 minute drive to Rawiga a few times a year. Teed off at 7:00 am on Father's Day and was driving home before 11. It'd be nice to have a cooler or two with some water on the course; well water understandably isn't offered. You won't find a better track around for the $$. Better deal than Shale or Pine Hills any day.
Hidden Gem
Best value for 25$ in the state of Ohio. Not crowded. Course in good shape. Just challenging enough for this 10 handicap.
Good condition, always enjoy
Always enjoy Rawiga. Quietly situated in Medina county, but always in nice shape and pace of play has been good. You have to be on with your approach shots and putts though, as greens are all cupped around the perimeter and you will roll off.
Rawiga
Rawiga offers a nice golf experience for players of every ability level. It is a mature course. It is not high end in terms of polish or landscaping, but well worth the extremely inexpensive greens fees charged. If you are local to Medina, Summit or Wayne Counties, you should stop by and check it out for yourself.
Fun, challenging and reasonably priced!
Well worth the 45 minute drive from the west side of Cleveland. Great course for the money!
Rough shape!
This course has seen better days. The layout was great but conditions are horrible. Hitting off the fairways is like hitting off plywood, the rough is more dirt than grass and the greens are as slow as can be. But the layout is amazing! There are some really fun holes and really difficult holes too. At one time this place was amazing, I assume. Paid way too much. Not going back anytime soon. Sorry Rawiga.
Worth the drive
Second time playing this course - first was as a fairly new golfer. They spread the tees out well so anyone could have a good time. Played the tips this time and found it to be fun, but also challenging. For July, with no rain in a month, the conditions were actually pretty decent (not burnt out at all) and fairways were well watered.
The course itself has some great holes, some fun holes, and, to be honest, a few fairly routine ones - but with elevation changes, well placed sand (which was in good condition), and water coming into play. There are also a lot of mature trees to add a challenge.
Played mid-afternoon on a Wednesday as a single and everyone was friendly, If the course was packed, I could see it being slow, but finished in under 2h45m following a few twosomes and practicing chipping while I waited. Love it and will be back.
The only downside is there isn't great practice or warm-up facilities available (a small tree on #1 if you play the shorter tees. Clubhouse was fine - but not the reason I play a course, so I will defer to others. Worth the drive and at $24 - def. worth the price.
Good course
Always a fun experience every time I play there. A must course to play for all levels of ability.
Really worth going and playing
I really like this course. It was the 4th of July, not crowded at all. Nice layout. I will be back. Very easy to get to. Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery is down the street. Be sure to stop there also. Amazing.
Hidden Gem
Quiet. Challenging. Great course for value.
Tree lined & the greens are crowned w/ a lot of break.
Course is in good condition & plays well for straight hitters & good putters.
Tough greens
Good course, requires shot making. Tricky mounded greens especially for first time player
Bogey Golfer - Challenging course
This was a beautiful course and it was well taken care of. As a bogey golfer, I found this course to be fairly difficult. The fairways were pretty narrow and at times it was difficult to recover from my tee shot. The par 3's seemed to be easy however which helped my score immensely. The staff was pretty standoffish, and as someone who has worked at a golf course, I found this to be disappointed, but the course spoke for itself. I think I will be back to play this course sometime in the future.
An old style country club, now open to the public
This is a club reminiscent of the traditional country club; stately old clubhouse, well appointed inside as well. Course is very well maintained, tight cut fairways, extremely quick greens. No two holes are the same, 18 different experiences. Course is very remote, be sure to use mapquest to find it. Pace was slow ( 4 and 1/2 hours ), this was the only downside. We came from 90 minutes away, and will be back later this year. All greens are slightly elevated, so approaches cannot be run onto the greens. A good test for all levels of golfers
Great Track...kind of
As an 8 year old, I picked rocks out of the fairways as the course was being built. My Father was a charter member and I was a junior golfer for years. I joined the club in my 30's and was a member until 2000. This has always been a well maintained course and even now as a public track, it still is in great shape. My only complaint is with the course layout. They have reversed the nines and the front is now the back, etc. so now you are starting your round with 3 of the toughest holes on the course in the first 4 holes. A little daunting for someone who has played here for 50+ years, let alone for those who are playing for the first time. I realize that when a new owner take over a business of any kind, they want to put their stamp on it. But this was a terrible mistake. Imagine being a first timer that starts off bogie, par, double bogie, bogie. Not a great first impression. Don't get me wrong. This is a great course, and I will continue to play it. I just wish they would switch the nines back.
Oh, and one tip...Putt half the break you see.
