Fox Den Golf Course

Course is in great shape this years small areas with drainage problems have been fixed and greens are firm and fast

Had always thought Fox den represented a good value for the money that was the case at least until this year when Greens fees are sky high, now at $39 after 2 on weekends and holidays. There are certainly better courses out there for that kind of money. Condition were uneven, rough is super long and nobody fixes ball marks here. Regardless, pace of play was a factor as it took our 3some 2:45 to play nine. In front of us was what appeared to be 2 foursomes playing together and slowly. Behind us two high school or college kids asking us to play through, driving around in their cart during our t shots and hitting up on us. At one point words were exchanged. They skipped us and when we made the turn the starter had put them in front of us. Now we had a big back up at 10, 11, etc. Not wanting to spend 6 hours playing we bailed and asked for a rain check to which we were angrily directed to “read the sign, NO RAIN CHECKS”. That’s not how you treat loyal customers playing by the rules. Other patrons who heard our exchange with the attendant were sympathetic. We will be playing elsewhere.

Great course and great value. Rate of play was a little slow but the course was busy because everyone is coming out of quarantine. Course was a little rough but the weather has been bad the last few weeks. Also if you’re using a GPS distance watch be careful because the hole layout must have changed.

Stow resident here for $49 go to Brookledge and enjoy a much nicer course and friendlier staff.

Not the hardest course, is a varying layout though with a lot of good holes. Is a reliable experience, and conditions were good for just opening and while still mostly cold in Ohio.

Hard to differentiate between fairway and rough on some holes, but for this time of year it was in pretty good shape. Greens were a bit slow but that’s to be expected. Only played the back 9 so I can only speak of those holes, but even with rain and snow thaw it wasn’t overly muddy or wet. I think it’s 14 that develops a bit of a lake in the middle of the fairway, but besides that it has drained well.

Also, side not, the pro shop looks to be under construction, and there are only hotdogs and snacks available.

Word is F Den ha s a new remodeled clubhouse and a new superintendent. Looking forward to a new year of upgrades.

Didn’t play. Course closed due to snow on the greens and heavy fog, temp in the low 30’s. Brrr!

Fox Den is a great municipal course with an attached driving range for warm up/lessons. The staff is super friendly. Remember that this is a municipal course and most the marshals and cart people are volunteers. It is minimally staffed but has good lessons and a pro shop that stocks necessities. I strongly recommend that you try this course which is among the best of the reasonably priced northern Ohio golf courses.

Play this course all summer Some attention to little details would improve course Tee boxes need sand/seed mix on par 3.s and shorter par fours were irons are often used sand bottles on cart with seed should be used.

bottles are there but nothing is in them tees need more water and light to improve the conditions also some tees need leveled fairways on 4, 7, 14 and 15 need their drainage issues resolved and then reseeded. All traps need sand and edged could be a great course as a municipal course they are competing with ellsworth, brookledge and goodpark in the area and Fox Den's course conditions are not up to their standards

This course has no idea how to make and work tee times. I have given this course several chances and every time I play here I hit SLOOOOW play. I have played during week and weekends and the same slow play rears its head. I have called the clubhouse during play...since there are no rangers on the course... to get groups moving. You'll get 2-3 groups sometimes on one hole. I get the same excuses...We get a lot a play, we had an outing, nothing we can really do about it, etc... The driving range is awful....Mostly Dirt and holes...very little grass to hit from. Range balls look like they went into the woods and ponds and picked them out and threw them into the range ball machine. The greens roll nice but players don't fix divots and with lots of spike marks. Tee Boxes are ok...some are rock hard you need a hammer to put your tee into the ground, The pro shop is has a good selection. The concession stand has good selections but a little slow needs some more help when it is busy...which is most of the time. If the course could figure out how to spread tee times and have starters that know how to get groups off ...you should be able to play 18 holes in about 3:45 to a max of 4 hours.. Until they figure this out plan 5-hour plus rounds.

Had to tee off at 9:15 instead of our planned 8:52, but we had the course almost to ourselves on a cold but beautiful day. The course is in good condition.
