Good course on a hit deal
Good course to catch on a hot deal. Regular rates are not worth the conditions, layout, or pace of play.
Hello, u000006510319. Thank you for your 5-star rating! Please book another round with us soon.
Great Early Season Round
Played a quick 9 holes on an early spring afternoon. Course conditions were a little on the wet side but for this time of year it was a great round. Played (twosome) in 95 minutes. Played from the front tees, working on contact (ball striking) and alignment. Overall a great afternoon early in the season.
The Rangers were in Texas!
We wound up playing behind a two-some that elected to hit at least two balls on EVERY shot. There were no course rangers, so we were forced to wait a long time on very shot and were punished with slow play on very cold day. When I complained to the starter at the turn, I was essentially told it was our fault for not calling the clubhouse. While the two-some quit after 9, when we got to the 10th tee we found ourselves behind a new group of golfers on 3 carts (you do the math!).
Blustery Day
the greens were in an Ok condition considering it's wet and early in April! Wind was 3 clubs at times , tough to gage distances! Happy to be playing! The price was right!
Great Local Spot
This course is just a mile from my house, so it is my watering hole... It's exactly what you expect from a Muni... you see all the die-hards, you get a place to practice all your shots, and you get a better than average layout to test your game. Honestly, I practice there more than I play there, but I love the friendly nature of the staff and the pricing for practice balls or a game.
I would highly recommend for a fun game or just to get out and hit some!
Not the best day at Fox Den
Played as a single, which sometimes has consequences. On first tee noticed at least an 8 some playing 4th hole. Finally caught 2 groups who let me play. Encountered a slow 5 some next. There were groups ahead of them also. Pace of play slowed also by cart path only. Love Fox Den....just not today!!
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I HAVE PLAYED THIS COURSE MANY TIMES, GROWING UP AND LIVING IN STOW MOST OF MY LIFE. I HAVE ALSO USED THIS COURSE FOR MY TRAVEL BASEBALL TEAM OUTING. I ONLY BOOKED 2 PLAYERS FOR MY TEE TIME BUT HAD THIRD THAT WANTED TO JOIN, WHEN WE GOT TO THE COURSE THE MAN RUNNING THE COUNTER AND THE STARTER ACTED LIKE IT WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF THE QUESTION TO ADD A THIRD PLAYER. FUNNY CAUSE WHILE WAITING TO TEE OFF ON THE SECOND HOLE WE LEARNED THE NEXT TWO GROUPS BEHIND US ONLY HAD 3 PLAYERS. ADDITIONALLY WHILE WAITING TO TEE OFF THE STARTER ASKED US IF WE WERE WAITING FOR THE PRIOR GROUP TO CLEAR THE GREEN BEFORE WE HIT, APPARENTLY HE MISSED ONE PERSON IN FRONT OF US THAT HAD RETURNED TO THE TEE BOX TO HIT ANOTHER BALL. VERY RUDE! I WILL NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN AND WILL NEVER BOOK ANOTHER OUTING HERE!
Still a great little track
It was nice to play on a holiday without having to spend a fortune. Plus it wasn’t particularly late. I am definitely coming back soon
Great shape
The course is in great shape. So glad they re-did 5 & 6, although back to back Par 5's is pretty weird. Course is getting a lot of play, so gotta fix a few divots once in a while in your line.
Was nicer last year
Course conditions were not very good at all. A lot of bare spots in the fairways. Terrible pin placements on holes. The new par 3 green was only halfway playable. Huge dirt spots where it looked like the ground was breaking up. Slow players with bad etiquette (we were almost hit by a ball on the first green. Went in between my friends legs. No "fore" or even an apology from the guy). People had babies with them in their carts, kids running around on the course. The kicker was when I turned off the teebox and was greeted by two dogs that some local was letting run around on the course without a leash. Staff was quite friendly and it was cheap through GolfNow. May give it a try next year to see if they improve the maintenance on the course.
Great Weather and course
I really enjoy the layout especially the new holes 5 and 6. If I loved closer I would play much more often. My only issue is the new green on 5. It is close to non playable. It is new within the last two years and part of the green appears to be falling away from the rest of the green.
Awesome!
Had a nice time. Relaxed and even beat the rain after 18 holes.
Terrible fairways.
This course used to be nice years ago. Every time I go back now it seems to be worse than the time before. Fairways washed out, tee boxes don't have any grass. The one good thing of note is that they did get rid of the ridiculous par 5 that was a 8 iron tee shot. Better layout now for sure. With some care this course could come back to life but we will probably leave this one off the list for the foreseeable future.
Worse than last season
Conditions have deteriorated since last season. Greens have many more ball marks. The redesign of the fifth and sixth holes is not a plus in my opinion. Three par 3's and back to back par 5's on the same nine just does not work too well. Definetly slows down play. Would have been simpler and more cost effective to just cut down trees on the inside of the dogleg of the old fifth hole , where they put the tees for the new 6th hole, thrown in a fairway bunker in the inside of the dogleg to give players a chance to bite off more of the corner but with a little bit of risk with the bunker there to penalize you if you try to bite off too much. Also the green on the new par 3 fifth is in very bad shape, many dead spots, some of which have been patched, while most have not been fixed. Pace of play was slow, had to wait on every shot after the first hole. The Stow girls team out practicing was the beginning of the problem, with the coach out teaching on the course. Saw quite a few handicap flags on carts, another sow down there. But the biggest problem is tee times set on only seven minute intervals. This is a course that I would anytime before, but I don't think it will be high on my list in the near future
