Fox Den Golf Course

The course was in pretty decent shape. Had an early teatime so from nine greens real little frozen, which was to be expected this time of year. OK it’s February and we were golfing, so not a lot of complaints other than the price we paid to play this time of year. Could have charged about $10 less.

Look, I get that it was the day before Thanksgiving, but there is no excuse for 75 pounds of goose manure on every single green. If you’re going to charge $40, the player should at least have a chance to putt on one green.

Frankly, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Good test and a course you need to think your way through. Trouble lurked just off the fairway in the landing areas, so you can have an approach with a chance at birdie or you could be taking your medicine. Hitting a 3 wood on a few of the holes keeps you short of the trouble.

I have always enjoyed playing fox den, but recently it has just gotten slower and slower. They over book their tee times way too often that there is just no enjoyment of playing there anymore. Sad that I’ll be crossing this course off of one of my regulars.

Good conditions, had a great time. The starter was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful, getting us in the back 9 for a quicker round.

Most of the tee boxes were tore up and the rough was hard as a rock making shots around the green and fairway difficult. Pace of play was extremely slow as we had a two-some in front of us that were newbies and one of them was a walker. Don't believe you should let out a two-some Sunday morning. Greens were aerated recently which is late for the season.

I had not played Fox Den since the city took it over even though I'm local. I had some GolfNow credits that I had to use or lose and the restrictions kept me to a "Hot Deal" on a weekday, M-TH (bummer), so I had to play local to be back for the kids getting off of school. Previously, it wasn't the best, it was always crowded and I felt you had to wear a helmet with all of the errant shots. I was happy to see they've done some work. There are a few reconfigured holes. The greens are maintained and roll true and not very difficult to read. The sand was even raked and looked to be kept up with. Play was a little slow but being a week day, you can't be surprised by the old folks packing in. This is a course you should be able to score well on. There isn't a whole lot of trouble to get into if you have any kind of accuracy. The only downfall I can see (which could easily be fixed) is to have some divot sand mix on the tee boxes or in one of the jugs on the carts. The golfers there seem to be respectful for the most part with fixing the ball marks on the greens, I'm sure they may follow suit on the tee boxes. Overall, I would recommend the course, especially if it's been several years.

Overall this is a fun course but stay away from tee times after 6:00. Our tee of time was 6:42 on a Friday evening and we couldn’t finish nine holes before it got dark because there were several slow groups in front of us.

County club conditions, public course. Pride of city of Stow. First..... negative. Mmmmm. Ah yes . Play could be slow in prime time. Course gets a lot of play. A real beauty. Great for ladies and gents, Pristine in everyway. Much attention to details, Course gets a lot of TLC from maintenance crew. Any and all items addressed and controlled quickly. Tough holes and easier holes. A real test of golf from the tips. Fairways and greens are as good as it gets. Greens are fast and some could be very difficult. Lot of fun to play. Nice grill room for food and beverages. Club house is always trying to make it pleasant for the golfers with updates. Restroom in the middle of the course is country club style. Not a portapoddy, a restroom with running water. If you have not played it, give it a try. You will return!
