Top 25 Courses for Pace of Play in the U.S.(2021 #12)
Golfer Reviews
hot deal at willow creek
I caught a hot deal for 10$ & couldn't believe how lucky I got! Course was worth 4 times that. I live in the area and get out to Willow Creek a few times a year. Course was in good shape for this late in the season, greens were in beautiful shape! Would, and will, definitely get it there again this year.
Friendly staff and peaceful golf.
Like this course for the price. Course Is getting better. Greens are in nice shape and some holes offer a good challenge. My only negative would be the pace of play. I would suggest pairing up groups of two when busy so it's not so slow. Maybe they do this already but when I was out there was a large mix of 4's, 2's and singles.
This course very challenging
Narrow fairways with high rough around greens make this course challenging for a great round of golf
Great Course
Fun for beginners and regulars. Course is in great shape! Staff is awesome! My buddies and I love playing this course. Great price, and a hot dog at the turn is a must. (The best hot dog I have had at any golf course in Lorain/Erie County.) Highly recommend!
Decent course for what I paid for.
Using golf now and a promo code, I paid $3 for 18 holes which was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pace of play was slow. A man and his young son would not let me pass them, and that was annoying. Overall, decent course and great conditions.
Friendly staff, pretty property, otherwise typical country course
Recommendation depends on what the golfer is looking for.
On this day, it fit what I wanted. I was looking for somewhere to get out very early, play very quickly and be home early - and get some exercise!
I arrived well before my tee time, and the started let me go off on my own at about 6:45 AM (walking). That was awesome! I walked off the course at 8:55 AM having played 18. 5 stars for the staff!
The course is a low-budget country course. Lots of cart damage, many areas in fairway where there is no grass. Hard to see the difference between the fairway and rough from the tees. The fairways are only about 20 yards wide on most holes. Tee boxes just so-so.
Really, from tee to green, this is not an exceptional course by any means.
However, the greens are in very good shape. And its really a pretty piece of property with beautiful big trees lining each hole. There should indeed be a golf course here!
With more money and some better fairway maintenance, this place would be a true hidden gem.
It has a driving range. Putting green just steps away from first green. Nice!
It has some things going for it, but not a course you will remember.
Water Damage
We played the course right after a big rain storm, unfortunately nearly every fairway was a swamp with bare spots of mud.
With that said, the greens are in really good shape, roll true, very few ball marks.
Owner Mike is very friendly and obviously doing the best he can given the far from ideal weather this year. It'd be great to play the course again once it recovers a bit.
Enjoyed the challenge of keeping drives straight and playing the distances of the water hazards and dog legs.
Loved it
A nice course kind of tucked away. The green were beautiful and a lot more difficult than they looked. The food was great with lots of options also a good beer selection all at a very fair price. I will definitely be back to play again this year. Thanks willow. I had a great time.
This course is highly overated.
While the course was very wet the day I played, the course itself - facilities, layout, difficulty, course conditions, and so on- were no more than average. I would give it an honest overall rating of no more than 3.5 out 0f 5.
Clover Everywhere
They've got to get rid of the clover. It was cart path only, but we were the only one complying. The course was soaked with standing water everywhere. It was really unplayable and will not recover this season if they keep letting people out. People with t-shirts on doing donuts on the wet course. I'll never play there again which is a shame because there some really neat holes.
nice golf course.
I like the course layout the staff are friendly, the carts are clean. I would play Willow Creek more, but the pace of play is hourandious. I will not play there again unltil Willow Creek owners provide a RANGER on the golf course. With the lack of golfers each time we played there, the owners can't affored to lose customers.. Note: if you want to play three balls on every shot go to the drving range, there's one 20 yds south of the first tee. If you play slow please let the golfers behind you play through.Enjoy the game of golf properly.
Gem of a course.
The new owner, Mike, is doing a wonderful job in getting this course back into shape. The day I played the course, that morning we had plenty of rain, the course was in very good condition. The greens are in perfect condition and the fairways also in great shape. Older course so you need to be able to play straight and make good shots. Will be going back soon.
Perfect conditions
Willow is in the best shape I have ever seen. Fairways are groomed and well maintained. The greens are perfect and fast. The course is old and not real long but it is in great shape. I recommend this course. I will be playing it more often now that it is in such great condition.
A whole new course
I played this course since I was young. The old owners didn't do much with it other than cut it. The new owners turned this course around! Grass is beautiful, greens are changed around a little bit, the water hazards are clean, and the fairways and greens are extremely well manicured. Best bang for your buck in northern ohio, and the pro shop staff is awesome! Mike and Tim are both super friendly and personable, and make sure you say what's up to greens keeping crew. They are doing an awesome job! Before the new owners took over, I would drive anywhere else to play (I live in amherst) most of the time out to forest hills. But now I'm sticking with willow creek for my rounds from now on and with golf now deals you can't beat it! Make sure you grab a hotdog (giant all beef) and some beers (they have cooler bags for you at the course) before you leave the pro shop. I give it all an 11 out of 10!
Willow Creek greatly improved!
This course offers a little bit of everything I enjoy on a golf course. The aprons and the greens were in awesome condition for this time of year. New management has turned this course around! Can't beat this course for bang for the buck! Greens were a bit slow but figured it was part of getting them to the shape their in now. With GolfNows hot deals too good to pass up.
Great course
This course has come a long way from a few years ago. Fairways were in really good condition, greens were fast and challenging, and the rough was long. This is a great course if your looking for a quick but challenging 9 or 18.
Great walk!!
Love this old local course. The new owner is making changes that are already visible and has plans for more improvements! He also has a very welcoming personality. Watch out for holes#3 and#4 could be wet! Back nine is a challenge and the greens are nice,Grab a drink at the nineteenth and watch the view on eighteen!
This course is a great walk!
The course has a new owner who is making changes that are already visable.I have always loved this cousre, just needs some time and care! It is an old couse with lots of character. Watch out for #3 and #4 you might be wet, bring an extra sleeve!
New Management
The new managements hard work to get this course back in shape is showing up on and around the greens. They were firm and rolled well. I noticed several trees that were marked that I hope they remove to open up a few shots.
