Improving but...
Chunks of grass clippings need to be swept after tall grass is mowed. Sand traps were hard as concrete. Course improves year over year. Staff is friendly.
Get some new golf carts!
They need to spend some time and money on the course. Golf carts are worn out. I had to use 3 different carts kept braking down. The greens were very slow don't think they mowed that day. It is a shame because this use to be a nice golf course.
Have played better for less $$
Tee boxes were not kept at all, traps were ponds and would not drain, snack bar/ cafe was closed, no drink cart, greens needed to be cut. Overall not a course I would go back to, when there are several courses in the area that are very well kept, for less cost.
Average course
Went to play a day after it had rained and there was standing water all over the place. Not very good drain system probably due to the fact that this course has a lot of creeks. Nice course for the money and for locals.
The course has straight fairways and is fairly flat.
Not a lot of surpises. I am a senior and it played fairly easy it being my first time at this course. Enjoyable.
Good Price for a weekend round
Course is getting better all the time. Starting to get more grass and less dirt in/near the trees. Greens have almost always been in good shape. They could use a little work in the food & beverage area but it is not bad.
Wet but good course
My son and I attempted to play this course on 7/8/14, but it was flooded. Again on 7/18/14 we had received a lot of rain, but we were able to play. I was impressed with the course, it was in good shape. I will play it again someday.
Great course for the price
Great price, and course is in decent condition. Friendly staff
Not Impressed
Over all not impressed. Would not want to play again. Plays really long, fairways were deep and seems to be recently cut, the greens were so so, and the sand traps were not groomed and severL were full if water when the course seems to be dry.
Pleasantly surprised
Due to the recent rain, front nine was cart path only. However, I enjoyed the course in every way. I think Mike in the Pro Shop made the course even better. He went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and enjoy my visit to Oklahoma and playing a course. Due to the fact that I was a single, I caught up with others, but they kindly allowed me to play thru. Mike provided a better way to get back to my motel in Edmond, than the way Mapquest got me to the course. All in all, it was great round of golf, and I would highly recommend the course to all, and even better with the price I paid via Golfnow.
Good value!!
Got a great deal and the staff was very friendly! Pace of play was excellent until the 12 hole. The guys in front of us were slow and hitting several balls off the tee box. Cart lacked power and the park brake was tricky. Overall had a great time and would recommend it to anyone at that price. Wish there was more grass infer the trees it's like hitting off concrete at times. Solution..... Stay I'm the fairways....
Good value
Nice course, moderately challenging. Usually not too busy on weekdays and pace of play is normally good.
This Sat. played in between two mini-tournaments. Pace was OK until #14; stuck behind a foursome of drunks who played like beginners but didn't let us play through. One of them picked up my husband's ball from off the 16th fairway and pocketed it while looking for their ball. One of their group threw a little verbal abuse at us as they walked off #18 green for ... I guess waiting and watching them while they took well over 10 minutes to putt. (The group behind us had caught up with us and they too were waiting and watching.) Guess that's what you have to endure sometimes on the weekends.
Otherwise a nice round that was briefly interrupted by thunderstorm threat when we were called back to the clubhouse.
Greens are in great condition; fairways are mostly very good. (lots of rain this past month).
Staff is very friendly.
Driving range, chipping area and practice putting green are available.
Good deals are available on Mondays. Also check golfnow.com for specials.
It's okay, but not as good as the other reviews
Course has no place to eat, unless you consider the hot dog roller a restaurant. Cours was in good shape, but I'm not sure I would call the fairways fairways unless you consider a parking lot with 1/16" grass a fairway. Greens were beautiful and the overall course maintenance was good. No running water in the bathroom we used on the course itself. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Pace of play was good, but for some reason they allowed a group of 9 to go off at once and this really slowed everything down.
Decent Course, firm greens, noisy carts
My first time to play this course.
We played on a Thursday morning and the weather was overcast.
The fairways were in good condition. Many tee boxes were a bit un-even. The greens were soft and firm but kept the dew until late morning because of the overcast skies. I noticed a good bit of grain in the grass on the greens which pushed a few putts that shouldn't have had any break.
I played from the back tees and did so terribly, which I cant hold against the course. Nearly all of the tree clusters have bare dirt between so its difficult to recover a misplaced drive from that. From the back tees, many of the par 3s are around 200 yds which was quite challenging. Most sand bunkers were shallow and would be easy to roll through or hit from. Water was not a major player on this course, I liked ending the course on a par 5. The sand infront of this green is shallow and could be rolled through. Wish I had known!
Great Place
Got here early after a thunderstorm, and the staff had done a great job of having the course ready, free of debri. Friendliest people I've ever cone across at a course.
Nice course
Three of us rode in carts. Due to recent rains we were required to stay on the cart path on the front side. Not a big problem. The greens were a little hairy due to rains and not being about to mow. It is not a good walking course as there are some holes that require a long walk to the next tee box. The course has improved over the last 5-10 years and grass is growing where it once wasn't. Still a tight course on the backside. Lots of trees, but not real thick. The course is a change from the OKC courses.
First time at Choctaw
The course was pretty open and had some challenging smaller greens. Staff was helpful and nice. The carts are a little beat up but they got us through 18 holes. Fairly inexpensive and fun.
Cut the greens!!!!
Course was in very good shape!! Just wished the staff would cut the greens down!! Could grab the blades of grass with your fingers!! My only complaint!!! Greens were in great shape, just hairy to the point where you have to hammer a putt to get it to go 10 feet!
Rude player assistant on course
Rude, condescending, heavyset player assistant driving around the course. Walks up to cart, with belly spilling over into personal space while he leans on the cart, to explain rules that we are complying with, then slaps the cart roof before sauntering off.
Course is in great shape
Played on a cool, windy, and rainy day. Strange weather this time of year. Better than average grass in the fairways, greens in great shape. Still a lot of dirt patches which we took relief from. Carts were marginal and had to switch one out. Friendly staff. As good as it gets for the price we paid ($13). I recommend this course!
