Crazy Roughs
The course is great, Roughs are way too long.
Can literally walk rite over your ball and not see it.
CUT THE ROUGHS
Good value. Shaggy greens.
$33 to walk on a weekday at noon is a great value. Course layout is interesting with many doglegs. Nothing “linksy” about the course other than some strong winds coming off the Sound. It is more open than most “parkland” courses, but still plenty of trees. Course plays longer than its yardage. Not much roll from fairways, and the rough is quite thick. My biggest complaint was the greens. INCREDIBLY SLOW!!! Like putting on a shag carpet. Not even fun to putt on. Disappointing, because the course has so much potential. Hopefully, the grounds crew can cut them shorter going into the fall.
Hot day round
Course was in very good condition. Better be accurate off the tee as the rough is very thick. Really cost me a lot of shots as it’s not here inches high and very green.
Fairway Finder
Fair but tough course..
hitting fairways r a must here..
Rough is brutal..
adds at least 1 shot per hole if u r lucky 🤣
Good course for the money
I really enjoy playing this course. It’s challenging but not excessively playing the white. The black tees are more difficult. Good variety of holes and I enjoy the Par 6 on hole 18 as I usually birdy this hole ;-).
Normally enjoyable, but not this round
I’ve played Cherry Creek Golf Links at least a half dozen times over the past few years and normally like it a lot. Yesterday was an exception. It was a very windy day, and as a result more shots found the rough than would be the case on a calmer day. In a word, the rough was “ridiculous”, more typical of Bethpage Black than a friendly course for non-professional golfers. The ball would invariably sink in deeply, creating a very difficult lie and inevitably poor contact. It was enough to kill our foursome’s round. It also didn’t help that we were backed up on most every hole and spent 5+ hours playing. My guess is the thick rough contributed to this problem, since it often took a while to find the ball in that deep rough. I really like this course and hope the superintendent makes note of this issue and does what’s necessary to correct it.
Not a US open course.
Cherry creek links course is always in great shape , winter spring summer or fall. These people know their grass. With that being said tees were great. Fairways were beautiful but cut too long . Greens were beautiful but very slow. The rough is as tough as a us open setup . Challenging for this golfer to advance the ball even with a wedge at times. There are some nice interesting holes but mostly it’s straight out straight back. Needs 1 more set of tees as the yellow is 6000 yards and the red tees are too short . White tees are 6500 so beware. These yardages play much longer because of the slow thick fairways .
Great Course, Rough too dense
Played this course twice recently. The thick rough begins where the fairway ends. Easy to lose a ball in plain sight. Greens slow today. Place needs a bit more mowing.
Amazing Track Par 6 on 18th
I have no words.. The track was amazing tea boxes, fairways greens are absolutely perfect. I would give 10 stars if possible. Just make sure to keep your ball on the fairway 1st cut just eats the ball and trust me your ball will be impossible to find!! Pace of play was amazing never was waiting on the box. The starter was very informative, the clubhouse was amazing and had everything you needed if you forgot anything in your bag. I loved this track so much I went two days in a row!!! Definitely I must hit for all Long Island golfers.
Fun Time At Cherry Creek
Really pretty golf course that definitely challenges you. Grass in rough alittle too high so need a little extra strength to dig it out. Putting greens were in really good shape and fair. Fun course.
