Good place for the price
Course is de wnt they are trying to bring it back to its glory but it takes time
Good local course
This course is super local and is a work in progress. I can see the end goal they want to get to however it will take alot of time to repair the damage done over the years. New owners have big goals for this course. I can't wait to see it
Good for the money
The nines is a nice place to hit a round if you're looking to get some practice time in and have an enjoyable time. The staff are very friendly. The amenities are a work in progress due to a recent catastrophic fire that destroyed all of their equipment. The new owner appears to be working towards rebuilding a course that has been neglected for for quite a while. The greens are in the rebuild process. This course will challenge you if you miss the fairway a lot as the out of bounds areas will eat your ball with no hope of returning it. I like this course if I feel like some ball striking practice with less than three hours. Course pace can sometimes be slow though as The Nines has a lot of new golfers who don't understand golf etiquette and moving along if there are people behind them.
$60 really????
Terrible conditions to be charging two people and a cart for $60. 2 greens are completely marked off and have a make shift green on the fairway right in front of the original green. 2-3 more greens may as well be unplayable from how awful their conditions are.
Was a great place to play (for the old price)
This is where I learned to play golf. I loved this course for the price ($15 for 18 holes and a cart) but with this new price ($32) it’s not even sort of worth it. Tee boxes are okay at best, fairways are getting better, the “bunkers” are grass (there’s more bunkers on the green) they don’t have a grass catcher for the cut grass so you lose balls and your golf shoes get filled up with cut grass, also they don’t mow the white daisies so you’ll lose your balls there too. The owners response was “just hit it in the fairway, but the weeds and soggy cut grass are in the fairway. Also the greens are atrocious. I’m not quite sure how they think they’re a $30+ course, but it’s unfortunate because I had a lot of fun practicing here. You’re so much better off playing Chehalem Glenn in newberg. The tee boxes are great, fairways are great and greens are usually immaculate. Plus the course layout is much better and it’s a full 18 hole course. Sad to say goodbye to this course as I’ve played here probably 60 times, but it’s truly not worth it for the price, it was just worth it for practice. With that being said: all of the employees are very nice and fun to talk to. But if you can play Chehalem for $22-$30, there’s literally no reason to go here.
Greens are horrible!!!
I recently had the misfortune of playing a round at The Nines, and I have to say, it was one of the worst golfing experiences I've ever had. To start, the greens are absolutely atrocious—the worst I've ever seen. They're patchy, uneven, and it's nearly impossible to get a true roll on any putt. It's as if they’ve given up on maintaining them entirely.
The fairways aren't any better. They’re in such terrible shape that it’s hard to tell where the fairway ends and the rough begins. You’d expect some level of care, but it’s clear that maintaining the course is not a priority here.
As for the par three? It’s a complete disaster. They don’t seem to do anything to keep it in good condition; it’s just been left to deteriorate, and it shows.
To make matters worse, there isn't even a driving range on the premises. How a golf course operates without a basic facility like that is beyond me. And don’t expect to see any sand traps—there are none, which just adds to the feeling that you’re playing on a glorified farmer's field rather than an actual golf course.
Overall, The Nines is in such a deplorable state that I can’t recommend it to anyone who actually cares about their golf game. It's a far cry from what a golf course should be.
Stay away!
I recently had the misfortune of playing a round at "The Nines" in McMinnville, and I can confidently say it was the worst golfing experience of my life. The greens were in absolutely horrific condition—completely unplayable. It felt like I was putting on a patchwork of dead grass and dirt, with more bare spots than actual green. I've seen better-maintained lawns in abandoned lots.
To call these greens "the worst I’ve ever seen" would be an understatement. It’s almost as if the management has given up on maintaining the course altogether. The fairways weren’t much better, resembling rough more than anything playable. The whole course feels neglected, as if it’s on its last legs and no one cares to bring it back.
The rest of the amenities were just as disappointing. The bunkers are non existent and the entire layout felt uninspired and monotonous.
If you’re looking for a decent round of golf, avoid The Nines at all costs. Save your time, money, and sanity by playing literally anywhere else. This place is a disaster.
Course under repair
This course is great for starting out. My wife and I have been there twice. The rate of play is great. Course has some rough spots but is receving some work and it's going to look great eventually. Would recommend for starting out.
Amazing
This is an Amazing course for the money greens a little tough but best value course in the area for the $$$$
The course layout is good; the course is long from the back tees. The greens are terrible; I won’t be back until they improve the sorry green situation.
Good golf
The fairways are challenging the greens are small it's a good course the only problem I see is the greens but again the price reflects that. So overall a great course!
Good golf
The course was nice and challenging a lot of dog leg lefts so if you're a slicer... look forward to playing again.
Good for the money
Great course, challenging, staff is friendly, great deal from golf now.
Great layout, horrible greens
Would play this again for the discounted price, but full price no way. Awesome to get out and challenge yourself, just don’t expect to have meaningful work on the greens. Beautiful scene, fun holes though
