Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
About
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club sprawls across beautifully hilly terrain, providing a course that is not for the faint of heart. The course is defined by the dramatic changes in elevation, which can make it tough to walk. The steep hills make this a tough golf course even for high handicappers. Uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies abound and you'll also face forced carries to narrow landing areas as well as blind layup shots. The more open front nine is player friendly and the back nine is where it gets tougher with mostly tree-lined holes and more strategically placed bunkers. The golf course is as scenic as it is challenging with elevated tees and greens that overlooks the surrounding hills and valleys. The beauty and difficulty of the course has built Chehalem Glenn Golf Club a reputation as one of the greater Portland area's must-play courses.

4th green. Pretty typical of the course. That’s my ball by the pin from about 190 yds. Not bad, made for eagle. Photo submitted by markmcnwa on 11/20/2019

Chehalem Glenn Golf Course Photo submitted by AllenGoodall on 09/08/2015
Very hilly
This is a course I wouldn’t recommend to walk. It’s very hilly. When I played the greens were bumpy and like carpet. You couldn’t even read the greens because how bumpy they were. Your ball will lose it’s line.
What's wrong with greens?
Thanks for trying to take care of your greens, but they're beyond mushy and slow, it's unacceptable. It felt like we were playing golf in the middle of winter after inches and inches of rain. Firm it up a little. It should take that much effort. This course used to be more challenging all around, but that taste started to disappear
Exciting layout with plenty of danger!
Very interesting course layout with plenty of ups and downs. It’s walkable but very arduous. Greens were slow but otherwise course conditions were good. A very reasonable value.
Nice course, softest greens ever- definitely not walkable
Very nice course for the money. The greens were oddly spongy and really slow, never seen that before. Unless you are young and very fit I wouldn’t suggest walking it. A lot of uphill walking and mostly because of the distance between some of the holes.
Slow play
The group 2 ahead of us was slow and the 4 some ahead of them were slow. Come to find out they were all together and they played as a 5some.
Chehalem Golf
Course was pretty nice, only complaint is the greens, so slow and bumpy putting was unfair
Fun and Skills Testing
The course was in great shape. The pace of play was under 4 hours. We like the course for its layout and the exercise it provides with the ups and downs of the layout. Overall a great experience.
Cart Experience Put a Damper on an Otherwise Good Outing
I love playing this golf course and it is in my rotation to play at least a couple of times a season. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I'm always rewarded with a course that is in good condition. I especially enjoy the colorful landscape beds by the tee boxes. The course played soft, but fair from the white tees.
Our usually delightful outing was dampened by the failure of our cart to make it the entire round. After nursing it up the 17th fairway, it finally died on the 18th down the fairway, so our playing partners used their cart to push us the rest of the way and eventually to the parking lot. Upon letting the pro shop know where they could find the cart, they apologized and offered "a soda or a beer" for the inconvenience, failing to recognize that I had paid a rental fee for 18 holes and not part of a round. The pro shop's inability to offer more meaningful compensation put a damper on an otherwise good day on the course.
Our cart was not the only one that died that day as we witnessed a group, two holes in front of us having to get rescued.
I played in the afternoon on a weekend. The water coolers were empty. Everything g else was in good shape.
Excellent
This is my first time playing here. The course is in excellent shape. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The course has character in the sense where you need to have good tee shots otherwise you’re in the woods or in the creek. Nonetheless, there are some very scenic holes with a few holes with water on the back nine. Over all I truly enjoyed playing this course. Highly recommend it if you’re in Newberg.
What a walk
This is a tough course to play and especially walk. The hills, the space between holes made it a challenge for me, but I played well on this beautiful course. I felt the front 9 grass should have been cut but it was playable. I’ll get into shape and be ready to take it on again. Challenging course.
