McNary Golf Club
About
McNary Golf Club is located on the site that once was the homestead of Charles McNary (1874-1944), prominent Oregon Congressman, lawyer, and vice-presidential running mate of Wendell Willkie. Since he was an ardent golfer, it is appropriate that this course was named in his honor at its opening in 1962. The course was developed by Jim Sill who wanted to build an enjoyable course for the average golfer. Initially, the McNary home was used as the clubhouse. Today, modern clubhouse facilities, including the well known McNary Restaurant & Lounge, overlook the course. All the necessary amenities are available. The golf course features lush fairways, spacious greens, and hazards that provide a challenge for all golfers. Claggett Creek comes into play on holes 1, 9, 10, and 18. The challenge and beauty of the course has also been augmented with several small lakes with fountains.

Superb course conditions
McNary is a fun track and although it has houses. It doesn’t seem super congested. The course right now is playing excellent with everything green and in good shape.
Nice course
I played McNary with friends and was really surprised at how nice a course it is. It isn't particularly difficult and it's not hilly, but it can be challenging. It is very well taken care of. After our round, we stayed for drinks on the patio. Service was really good.
Lovely course
McNary golf course is kept in beautiful condition. While it may not be the most challenging golf course in Oregon, it offers a few twists and turns to keep players on their toes. Because the course runs through a housing development, not just crossing streets but also traversing several, taking a cart is imperative. The one annoying thing is the lack of signage between holes, especially on the first several holes. We had to guess which way to go.
I didn’t play course was just aerated not in good shape at all …golf now. Customer service rep. Was to notify me but never did so I was not able to play so I cancelled my tee time
What a gem!!!
Booked a tee time as I got called to Salem for work and had my clubs. I didn’t know what to expect but the reviews looked great. I too can say the course is in excellent condition for the middle of January. Roll in the fairways, receptive and true greens and the pace of play was great. I highly recommend playing Mcnary & will be returning again.
Great Time
We had a great time golfing at McNary. For the Winter, this course has great drainage, the fairways were good, and the rough wasn't too bad.
Check in guy super friendly. Very nice carts with modern tech. Greens were excellent. Fairways very nice. Layout a bit tight with houses but overall fun and challenging. Would definitely recommend to others to play here.
GOOD COURSE - A bit Pricey
This is a good course and was in great condition. The greens held without being too firm or too soft. The weather was great. I like playing this course, but usually only when I find the Hot Deal because I don't think it is worth the regular rate.
Course impressions
Course is well maintained and watered. Challenging with mature trees in abundance rewarding good shots and penalizing poor ones. It seemed like every green was domed with undulating slopes making your putt locations critical. Located in a lovely older neighborhood was nice. Intending to return in a few weeks when leaves begin to change colors.
